    Very much agree with this. When I teach women I focus on either knife techniques or empty hand techniques that can transfer to the knife. I want the women I work with able to survive an attack by a larger, stronger aggressive male who might also be employing a weapon or have friends. This also goes for men. If the other guy has a weapon, you want to both understand how it is used and hopefully have your own. Of course for men the threshold for deploying is higher on both ethical and legal terms, but for men and women it's a good option to have.

    When I was in the marines I was learning FSF
    During my travels
    I was learning martial arts from both South Koreans and North Koreans that has special forces backgrounds
    Then I went to the Philippines and IMMEDIATELY I recognized FSF as possibly the best knife fighting martial arts
    I myself have a third degree black belt in ninjutsu
    I trained with real blades to get to that level…. However I won’t try it against FSF because there’s countless ways to counter MY counter
    I never had more trouble disarming someone until I went to the Philippines…. I strongly suggest anyone reading this to definitely consider learning for your own self defense. I’ve incorporated it into my trainings so instead of the knife fighting techniques I learned in ninjutsu, I replaced it with FSF
    And it’s just a thousand times better

    I had a female friend from Paris who told her and her girlfriend were once nearly kidnapped in Paris. I tried telling her to start carrying a knife of some sort and she got mad at me.
    Women especially need to see this kind of training.

    As a kid, my father demonstrated basic self defense to us kids and it came handy when dealing with bullies in the playground. In third grade, using a pen, I did stab a boy who was a known bully, he was taller and stronger than everyone in the class While I was punished for that, it made me realize self defense is a great skill for girls and women. Instincts kick in when you are in a situation and learning even just the basics is a great help.

    Just be careful carrying fix blade knife in California. Fix blade is an "open carry only" in California, meaning it has to be worn with sheath on your belt and should be visible. Folders can be concealed. If you get caught hiding a fix blade you can get charged. Please read California knife law carefully.

    • @paulrodriguez1282
      @paulrodriguez1282 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Please be aware, That in California the folding knife blade can't be longer than 4 inches in your pocket, to be legal carry concealed.

    • @tonmage29

      I think neck knives as well as buckle knives are considered fix blade or daggers so could be illegal if concealed.

  • @PsyX82
    @PsyX82 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My 2 cents on this, you should tell the woman not to present the blade to scare someone off... a guy could easier defend against and even disarm a woman with a knife if he knows that there is a knife. If he doesn't know about the knife it might be almost to late for him. Another thing is, that these cuts and stabs will possibly kill the person. If you stab in the armpit and yank the blade around in this area you might damage the axillary artery the axillary nerve, my guess is it will shut down the arm and maybe puncture the lung. The person will probably bleed out before he could get help. I think a normal person (without medical education) will not be able to stop/slow bleeding of the axillary artery. You will also have to deal with the legal side if you maim or kill the person.

    wow she looks like a woman that could be working in a grocery store... a realtor... at the post office... a librarian.. but hearing this upper-middle aged lady speak fluently on self-defense is pretty neat.
    I would suggest one thing: she is showing the attackee (not the attacker aka the man) *already* having the knife in hand and ready; showing how to draw the knife from concealment would be helpful.
    Thank gosh she isnt showing the usual corny tactics of "poke him in the eyes with your fingertips" or "just run away" or "Yell for help", or "take your car keys and fit them between your fingers then go for his face".
    What she's showing IS good stuff.

Before I became sick I practised some kung fu but that’s too physical for me now, would you recommend learning this or is there another, better way?

    • @ch37383
      @ch37383 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Would highly recommend learning this system. It focuses on understanding angles, using leverage against larger opponents, and the most realistic understanding of how to defend yourself with a knife or against a knife. The right concealed blade and knowledge of how to use it becomes an unexpected force multiplier in a violent situation. You must place your own safety above anyone else’s from the beginning so you don’t hesitate when it is time to save yourself.

    In today's environmemt I think it is necessary for a trained woman to condition her guidance in this regard (knife defence) with an emphasis that a knife must ONLY be used in the most dire of circumstances. I think she was a bit remiss in not doing so. I wouldnt want society to downward spiral into a state where women think its ok to pull a knife on a man for all sorts of disagreements or confrontations. We are close enough there already.

    In the US where everyone is potentially a gun carrier, a potential agressor would carefully watch at her hands all time .
    The whole thing of taking out the knife in a way to surprise the opponent is in itself a science which requires training.
    Without doing that part properly you are likely to be disarmed and have your knife turned against you.
    The only time that technic would work as such would be against a heavily drunken man, half conscious or a complete beginner mugger a little bit clumsy and unaware.
    Unfortunately experienced muggers are likely to be trained in self defense technic.
    So best way is to avoid place and time where that could happen.
