- The Volkswagen New Beetle has long gotten a bad rap for being the ultimate chick car (it does have a flower inside after all), but upon further inspection, the tallest drivers will appreciate the loads of head room, the budget conscious the great fuel economy, and the one that values performance will enjoy the 2.5L I5 with 150 HP and 170 LB FT of torque with a sport mode on the 6AT.
I love bugs so much, they have so much personality and really stand out among other cars.

I still like these models! I’ve had every model of the newer beetles. 98, 2001, 2006, 2008(triple white convertible) and 2012. My 98 and 2001 models were terrible. I wouldn’t recommend those models. But my 2006,2008 and 2012 I’ve never had any issues with them. Anyone looking to buy these models buy a 2006 model and beyond.

Yup I can confirm this. The 1998 - 2005 beetle had more electrical problem, engine issues, and the transmission was one of the worst created. From 2006-2010 they updated the engine, and gave it a newer much more reliable transmission. Seems like they sorted out much of the electrical issues as well. And the interiors in the 2006-2010 look the same but the materials they used seem to hold up better especially the seats. After 2012 redesign I’m not sure but most people seem to get a decent amount of miles on them without too many issues (I don’t like the redesign though).

Kam'renea Valentine yes! So there is a small input hole on the right side of the speaker for an aux cord. I bought one that fits my iPhone XR and it plays my Apple Music and phone calls through the car.
Not a bad car honestly, my sister had quite a few problems with hers. Rear seat room is terrible.
Is there a way to manually open the hatchback? I heard on some models the emblem filps up to reveal a key slot, and on the newer ones you can push the top of the emblem in and the bottom comes out so you can grab it and lift the hatchback. I have yet to find a way to manually open my 2009.
Yes my 2001 rear badge rotates and there is a key slot and handle.

You should take your flip-flops off. Because it will caught on a pedal. Nearly 50% drivers had a flip-flops car accident related. I should recommend to take off your flip-flops before start an engine.
