    Love the modern style of the cat. I have been looking for a pattern that featured black and white type fabrics and this is it. I recently lost my black and white feline helper, she was 20. She and I started quilting together 18 years ago. I will be making this to honor her and the tradition we started long ago. She took me from a domestic machine quilter all the way to a long arm quilter. Keep the kitty patterns coming. Thank you 🤗.

    Loved it Rob. Reminds me of our 23 year old black cat that we had to put down 5 years ago. Once made I'll never have to put this one down. Sweet.

    I really like this little quilt! I'm a quilter and yes, I love cats. As I watched this great tutorial I had 2 year old Arthur on my lap. He is one of our rescues and looks rather like a Norwegian Forest cat. He is the cat on the right in my profile pic in here. That is a baby pic. Arthur is huge now! The other one is another rescue named Evan. We have 9 cats in the house, 2 in the garage and 1 in the barn. All are rescues.
    Keep these great tutorials coming, Rob!

    Thanks, Rob, for another great tutorial. It can be a great one for practicing my free-motion quilting, which you have inspired me to try. My black cat, Jazzie, thanks you too, she also tells me to quit sewing at night by climbing on the table and laying down on my fabric.

    I like what you have done, looks pretty easy to understand as well, I have two options to suggest. 1. snowball the black square with the gray fabric, put on outside of block. 2.snowball white fabric with tan or pink fabric, turn the white snowballed square around so the snowball is between the two ears. Now you have white and black cats with noses. Let me know what you think!

      I like that Rob used a ruler most beginning quilters have in their tool box. Knowing how to use what you have and not thinking you must buy something new to make a quilt allows a quilter to grow in their new craft.

      I have used any large surface I have depending on the size of the quilt. A blank wall. A bank of doors. I use carpenters tape (blue tape) to hang the blocks up. Some shops will let you use their classroom to work in. Happy Creating,

    Love the quilt. I have a cat who gets jealous of my quilting time and will jump on my machine when she feels i have done enough! How would you make this quilt a larger size?

    • @juliebeers5575
      @juliebeers5575 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lucinda Meyer to make it larger, you could make the quadrants 3 by 3 instead of two by two. Or 3 by 2 if you wanted to make it rectangular.

    Any chance that a pattern has been printed yet? I sent in a comment a while ago and still have not gotten an answer. Please let me know if one will be available. Missouri Star Quilt Company has been wonderful trying to help me get an answer. They have followed up twice with me to see if I have gotten a response. The fabrics are just sitting waiting. Also I would like size options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Is my math is correct? The cat head blocks are 8 1/2" each, so the quadrant is 16 1/2" without sashing? The 4 quadrants with interior sashing are 32 1/2", so with sashing and borders is it 38 1/2"?

      I work it out about 40 inches square. The HSTs and squares were 4.5 inches unfinished, so each "head" would be an 8 inch square. 16 inches per quadrant, an inch for the sashing and inner borders and then whatever the outer borders were (maybe 2.5 inches finished?).

    • @donnasteward7670
      @donnasteward7670 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I you sell your quilted item, wall hangings are much less expensive to make & sell. For a larger quilt all you need to do is add another row &/or column or 2 or 3 or more & walla you have a large quilt.

    • @wendywilkinson1733
      @wendywilkinson1733 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick - It is possible to take the blocks on a wall hanging and make more to create a larger final quilt. Once you know the final size of a block, you can add as many as you want to get to the final size you would like. Most wall hangings can become King Quilts if you want. I think Rob likes to do wall hanging demos because he has an audience of very new quilters who might be intimidated by making a full size quilt. There are no limits, Rick! Go for it!
