I realy hate that app icons are now round they look horrible and many apps don't have circular icons,I had to uninstall that update

@@konorisx8836 go to all settings , then apps ,then select see all,scrol to the bottom and select show system apps, then find the app called google Tv ,force stop it and uninstall updates

I live in uk but set my vpn to usa then I get the tv app and the round icons but sometimes it goes back to the old layout it's a pain because I like the new layout when you click on the tv app at the top it sorts all the programs into lists like films sports tv programs and others
I bought 3 Chromecast TV on my 3 TVS for few years now since they released it , i have a weird problem & i don't know how to fix it & there is no video about it , my Chromecast started up get me to main page all APPS everything works , BUT don't load the the interface , all apps bottom, up works & play just don't load the interface banner says it cant load, Re-entry & don't work eighter when i click on it ..i tho is my Chromecast Problem but dose the same thing on all my 3 Chromecast TV dongles, i reboot 10 times already everything updated unplugged & plugged back freaking nothing works , just don't load the interface banner , but everything & apps works as usual ..just freaking weird & cant figure it out why because everything is up & running

The circular icons look very good, an improvement. Also unlimited apps on your favourites section.
What I don't like is the way one has to scroll right over to find those less used apps. I'd prefer them to automatically create more rows under the first so that ALL apps in that section can be seen on screen at a glance (like in the apps only mode)
Another gripe: I think the Apps only mode should display the round icons too (or at least it should give you the option).
Otherwise the update is a winner in my eyes.
You and I are on the same page as usual! It would be great to have two rows of apps. Once you get beyond 10 or 20 apps, it's a lot to scroll across the whole screen. I'm also not thrilled with the fact that you can't minimalize the # of apps shown on that row to 3 or 4 "daily drivers" and keep the secondary ones in the Apps Section (Tab). It makes it easier for the more technologically challenged members of the household (that will remain nameless)

Noticed I had the Google TV update on my Onn streaming box as of Monday, March 4th. Other than the app changes (as pointed out, they are now circles after the update) ... not noticing any other changes. I like that I can add more of my favorite apps on the home screen.
I agree. I like the ability to add more. I would also like the ability to have less than ALL your apps showing up there, though. How about you?
@@CordCuttersLIyes, I totally agree. I use some of my apps just about every day. But there are others that I don't, so I have moved them to the far end so they won't show. Now I see them everyday. I would love a setting so I could hide them until I'm ready to use them.

Hi I need help . I have onn google tv box and I have onn android tv box Iam advanced user and tryed many solutions an no luck yet . My problem is on all my onn android an Google tv devices . When I turn the boxs off an back on the boxs will not allow my apps to function but only a few apps will work Tubi TH-cam an downloader works nothing else works . I've powered box off I've powered router off I've factory reset the boxs nothing works . But the really weird thing is if I turn on box an just do nothing for 2 days the box will black screen to home screen an start working perfect again please any help appreciated .

I have sony bravia x80k, got this update couple a days ago..but, instead of your apps bar circular shape, they added pre-installed system apps also. I hardly use 5 to 6 apps but now it shows around 9 to 12 apps which really looks annoying. And the best part is you can't even uninstall those apps because they are system apps. I think,older interface is pretty much easier and more convinient..!! My question is, if you dont want this update, how to shift to the older user interface?? If you have any method, then please do let me know..!! Thanks so much..!!🙏🙏🙏
Unfortunately, you cannot uninstall an update like this, so I'm assuming you can't revert back to the older interface. I don't have one of these Bravia's with GoogleTV built-in, but if you're able to install the downloader app, you should be able to install a custom launcher to get rid if all the clutter and show only the apps you want with a custom background as well. I'm considering getting the Kinhank G1 right now I'm using the Firestick 4K Max in the living room and the ONN in the spare room. On the 4K max I have added 64GB of storage and a Ethernet connection I sideloaded a lot of channels with the extra room, I know that there changing the Firestick from android to a different format and that has me worried. I'm near 70yrs old my question is, stay with Firestick or switch to Kinhank G1 can I count on the 4K Max or will they disable features making it a basic streaming box? If you think I'll be better served by the Kinhank is the set up for use much different than the 4K Max

Depending on what exactly you do with it, the Kinhank might be overkill for you. If you just use official streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, etc. and depending in where you live, you might be perfectly fine with the Walmart Onn. 4K Streaming box for a fraction of the price. Look for my video on that box and see what you think. It's not available in some countries though.

Hey! I updated the system and it says it was up to date. Then a restarted it and went back to system update then it started to update.
That can happen sometimes. You just need to keep looking for updates until it says you are up to date (as shown in my video). Then when all done, restart the device and you should be fully up to date.
I don’t like google tv having to clear data and cash also when I’m watching the picture freezes and starts again its very irritating wish i went with what i had before which was Vizio so much better
I am in Australia, have a TCL C635 smart tv, checked updates, the latest update was September last year, it said I had latest software and a restart did not invoke any updates, may still be coming for us here.
It's not uncommon for some manufacturers to NOT keep up with all these updates, especially Smart TVs with GoogleTV or AndroidTV built-in. Sadly, many of those companies are in it for the quick buck at purchase time, but don't keep up with supporting them later down the line. I'll be curious to see if you eventually do get the update though. Please come back and tell us.
For you is not showing on my google tv. It’s just home, app and library. Anyone know how to fix it
Just purchased a TCL Q65, my first Google TV. I cannot find any way to control my older Yamaha receiver (non hdmi connected via optical) with the TCL/Google TV remote. This was possible with Firestick. Am I missing something? I really do not want 2 remotes! Thanks.
There should be a setting in the Devices and Settings area. Look for hdmi cec. It may take some trial and error.
Sometimes these TVs work differently with different platforms. Good Luck!

Well, the easiest way is not NOT choose a bunch of apps to pre-install when you first set it up. After that, you can just manually uninstall apps. Some system apps cannot/should not be uninstalled though. If you're not sure of any specific app, it's probably best to leave it.
Updating now but all it says is that it's a security patch level update and minor bug fixes. I'm about halfway through with the update according to the progress on my screen.
I've been using the ONN box over both my 2nd gen 4k max and the Tivo Stream 4k. Amazon is ruining the firestick
Make sure you restart after the update finishes even though it may not tell you to. That's how I got this update to happen.
@@CordCuttersLI so after I did the update and restart it was still the same interface with the square icons, I even checked again because it did not update and it said no update available. I'm in the Pacific Northwest but I would think location wouldn't matter
@@Rayraywheelz Sit tight, It'll come. These updates are never rolled out universally all at once. I'm assuming you have a GoogleTV device and not an AndroidTV device, right?

@@CordCuttersLII’m also having the same issue with my 2nd gen ONN google tv box. My interface hasn’t updated. I actually own 2 of the same devices and my other one updated on its own and has the new interface but my second one hasn’t. I’m getting the same issue as @Rayraywheelz
I actualy did the same thing a week ago and I got the new interface. However, the next day it went back to the old interface. Not sure how to get the new interface back. I use a Sony Bravia TV
You're the second person that has said this happened. Are you saying you have the Bravia TV with Built-in Google TV, and this is what you're describing?
This is my pet peeve when it comes to "Smart TV's" in general. They are notoriously BAD at Updates. In many cases, you get one or two updates within the 1st 6 months or a year after getting it, and then they don't bother.
Without having one to test out and report back, I'm afraid I don't think I'll be of much help.
Please do keep us posted though if it does eventually get the new Interface again.

I have a question, how is it that you have so many apps installed on the ONN device with so little storage space and RAM?
These apps are relatively small in size. Also, the apps I show in this video were just installed the purpose to show how many apps you can fit on the "Your Apps" row, but I didn't even open most of them, so they haven't accumulated any data.
It is very easy to add storage if you need more

My ONN box is currently "stuck" with an on-screen message asking to AGREE to Update with no way to maneuver to actually AGREE to update. Quick power/off power/on to try an reset does not clear the message - will unplug and leave power off for awhile and try again later...
Just update. I have 4 Onn4k. I have had no problems with. I have tduk app killer on it and it works with no problems
OOPS! Turns out the stuck AGREE to Update message was actually for my TV and NOT the ONN device. Sorry for any confusion. I'm currently waiting for the ONN update to install. Thanks, as always for your very clear info.
yes, TDUK's app killer still works on AndroidTV and GoogleTV. It's Amazon that broke that on FireTV devices recently by removing the ability for ADB Debugging. Hence the mass exodus to Android and Google.

Unfortunately, you can not with GoogleTV. Every app will be in the "your apps" row. The only thing you could do is install a custom launcher so you can modify everything you see, like wallpaper, apps, etc.

i got the update thursday, then went to my girlfriend's all weekend, and hers did not have the update and wouldn't find a new version. i am now back at my home and it has reverted to the old UI. Anyone else have this happen

If you're referring to the KinHank G1, that's AndroidTV, not GoogleTV, so it will not be getting this update.
