I love how the Royal Blues and Silver Streaks are getting new custom paint and mods. Yours is really really cool. I can’t wait to see the finished engine at speed. 👍
Well we are small group but the engines from A.C. Gilbert have a big heart and with a little love we can have a great fleet of fun and good looking engines. I hope to extend the life of every remaining Gilbert engine large and small for a very long time. I am so happy I can make the Armature and Brush Holder updated to modern performance as a DC Motor. And fix the Trucks to support all Wheel Pick Up for reliable operation. the 3D Smoke house can afford every Flyer engine with good old smoke! The Fire Box dresses up the Cab area with flickering fire and space for a engineer to guide the engine. Now as we move further into digital we have a Custom Flyer PCBs for reverse, AC to DC conversion, Sounds and Smoke Control. Soon we will have even more new stuff to share and a whole new mounting for he engine shell that would allow Custom 3D Printed Bodies to bolt on the the tried and true Gilbert Steam Engine Chassis. So at the heart of all the creations will be the core of AC Gilberts American Flyer. That is my dream. I have about 5 years left to make that mark and I will need help. Anyone interested contact me. Makers, EEs. Builders and Detailers. It needs to be an open set of standards for fitment and interfaces. To Survive in the Long term, D
@ I’m an old school collector, but after running Lionel’s Polar Express Berkshire this Christmas I’m suitably impressed with modern electronics. I think Gilbert tried to go DC in the early days with their Directronic Propulsion, but the technology just wasn’t there yet. It may sound weird, but I think you are carrying on a dream of AC’s. I wish you the best of luck on your work. 👍
