Instead of using a black marker, you get marking compound - I use Dykem, it comes in red or blue (they're the same, but people are almost religious about it) - it dries pretty quick and comes off with acetone but doesn't rub off - I haven't put it in the pickle pot as I don't want any potential contamination/staining but I don't even think it would take it off.

"Get over yourself". That's really funny. Chris, that's impossible, you are TOO cool. I enjoy following your vision and train of thought on this fabrication, super fun!

very solid practice and advice tbh, not entirely practical to be making your own catches or clasps all the time but for when you do it definitely helps to know how to do it as well as you can, then be able to apply it to any size needed. theres many different types of catches/clasps and many different ways to do it but as long as it does the job intended and is consistant then thats what matters and i think this vid def helps for a lot of ppl to get an idea where to start.

Yes I have more brooch videos to make and was going to mention jewellers usually just buy the parts nowadays! Practicing fiddly jobs can only benefit a jewellers skill tho
