Heres a shortcut , leave the throttle body , throttle cables , airbox on , you can disconnect the intake side from the black rubber block that attaches to the head , just 2 allen key bolts , there is enough flex in the intake boot to push it out the way and slide the head up. These tech videos will help so many . Keep up RMATV
Fantastic video! I have had a few "bad" experiences as a teenager trying to do mechanical work on my mc and decided that "this is not for me". Now, 40-years later there is something called "youtube" and I have decided that I'm gonna learn how to do this! I have seen other videos and reflected on the dirt and dust on the frame above an open motor and wondered... Thanks for straightening that out! :)
Doing a top end rebuild on my 2017 Yz250f right now! Bike startled rattling so I shut it off checked chain and for any other loose parts didn't find any and then it wouldn't restart.. Wish me luck hoping for no major engine damage!!
@@anthonygreen6870 Clutch went bad! Part of my clutch plates broke off and was stuck in the oil pump screen. Intake valves also hit the piston causing even more damage.. Ended up doing a full engine rebuild!!
@@knolysjohnson7244 Thanks for the reply! uh-oh. Looks like i might have a lot of work to do. Heard some knocking when at idle. Did some inspection and then tried to kick again to listen. Kick starter halted mid kick.
@@anthonygreen6870 Thats sounds similar to what happened to me I would check the clutch and top end to see whats the condition. After that you can decide if you need to split cases and work on bottom end also⚙️🤑
Everyone I recommend shoving a rag into were the timing chain is while taking it apart so you don't drop a screw or a pin or anything into the bottom end if you do your going to hate life
Good idea using Pro-x parts, made in Japan with high quality metals. Some of the other ones are mediocre but the other brands cranks blow absolute ass.
Using an hour meter is a great way to track engine hours and to use as a guide when doing recommended services. A compression test and/or leakdown test are 2 of the most common ways to track the wear on your engine and what components might be might need inspected or replaced. 50 hrs is essentially a safeguard. not always necessary but anything past 50 hrs generally the motor starts to loose power/ compression and also more likely to blow.
@@nate.1623 it doesnt lose any compression or power. only if air filters is not well maintained some small sand or dirt particles migth get in the cylinder and wear out the piston. it is quite safe to do 150-300 hrs on a piston depending on your riding style. but anything after that the risk that its gonna blow gets higher

Good video.you don't use your torque wrench to loose bolts.there are for torque only.you damage and take it out calibration if you do.
How many hours were actually on the bike? And whatvyear was it specifically
Awesome vid and edits and filming and bike
Disconnect the battery first for e-start bikes.
Nice vid!👍 keep the m coming
Will this tutorial work for my 2013 yz as well
The process will be the same so yes, it will work for your bike.
Will this work on my seized bike
Is the yz250f and yz250fx the same parts?
Is it fine to only redo a piston on rings?
Why I love two stroke smoke
I want to get an yz250f the cheapest deals I can get are years from 2003-2006 I heard those bike are prone to blow up and can be costly repair

How many piston rings come on a top end rebuild kit I only received four, but the manual shows five am I missing something here
Hey don't know what top end kit based on piston size. how do you measure that? It says bore is 77 x 53 so do I order a 77 size kit?
Yeah think imma just take it to the shop
what'd it cost?
What was the purpose of not dropping the cam chain when you were replacing it anyway?
Just in case you aren’t
Orang indonesia mana nih
👇Like yah
Why would you replace cam chain at 50 hours lmao
Replace the intake valves with the top end change. Thank me later
would this be the same on a 250 fx model??
Yes you can definitely use this video for your 250FX.
Do I need to rebuild my valve train if just gonna install new piston??
