    2:18 ... in 2 to 3 years they will look back at this period and say that they caught the bottom keel of the hedge fund market.
    july 2017: as of june 30th 2017, skybridge G II fund annualized return for the last three years -0.66% whereas the annualized return for the S&P 500 index is 9.61%.
    yeah, i totally want to pay that 5.75% fund sales charge for your superlative returns.

    • @ioannisimansola7115
      @ioannisimansola7115 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In all my career I was asking this question. Why mahagers had to repeat the others and mainly on proven mistakes. My explanation is , they are very low level managers and try to advertise what they do by justifying it as the idea that is on fashion . And because those above them are by far more useless and irrelevant to the topic. I have seen it repeated so often that I consider it as a theorem . It still works now that I am retired. People are afraid to fight for improvement , they just want to justify their existence to a post.

    Hedge funds are to HEDGE against risk. Like he said his firm was down 19% while s&p was down over 60% in 2008. Yes indexes perform better than a lot of hedge funds in the long run but that’s because more risk = more return.

    the people who are supposedly doing well "the distressed assets and activist investors" are really just using the power of litigation or creating synergies to create earnings. what hedge funds have traditionally advocated as their strengths - to identify profitable positions, those guys are losing bad.

    Scaramucci is a sharp money manager. Sure talks the talk. Putting 25K into Skybridge is a good move. But If there was no stock market, the economy would be much more productivity-based. And the wealth of the country would be more evenly spread. True, less reward for the risk-takers. But hard-working jobs would be rewarding. To provide funds for Creativity, Corporations could still finance their R&D without a stock market.

      I'm not a fan of Romney, but am of your statement. I grew up very poor, even got welfare from time to time, and currently make more money annually than I thought I could ever make, and it was from hard work, taking risks to my career, and not taking no for an answer. I, sure as heck, was not handed anything. The rich are not to be hated, frankly, they employ most of USA, those that they do not employ are either in business for themselves or like @MichelineBergett waiting for money to fall from the sky

      which would make me identical to Anthony... The whole idea here is that hedge funds are meaningless, especially for long term investors. Since these funds manage a lot of funds for pension boards, and union trusts, their sub standard performance in the long run (and evidently the short run as well), makes them pointless.
