About ''Here Comes The River'': Watson explained that it took him ten years to complete the song which was inspired from a photo postcard he had found in a Beijing market traveling several years ago. Patrick Watson helped us visualize the picture by describing the postcard’s scenery to show: A flooded street, with cars on the hood; a sad scene, but one that spoke a lot to me. I kept it in my pockets. I let the image settle in my subconscience, and only five years later I was able to write the first lines of the song. The rest came to me by talking to my hairdresser. This philosopher friend of mine, who had gone through many difficult times in his life, said to me: “Sometimes, the only way to break free and let things go, you need to flood until the flood is over, cry until you can’t cry anymore.”
Im from the netherlands and for me he is a world wilde sensation. Saw him live at lowlands festival years and years ago and he still hits me again and again with New beautifull songs. A True world wilde sensation to me and i guess a lot of others
This whole album helped me immensely in understanding and accepting my feelings regarding my grandmother’s passing. I don’t think something has ever entered my life at such a perfect time, nor matched my emotions so precisely. Thank you, Patrick Watson. 💜

This is the loveliest song I've heard for a long time. It makes me happy and it brings me to tears. We all have our rivers. I love it. The best poetry reaches straight into your soul and this does that.
@@cbcmusic Right. I'm sick because of this beauty. You have allowed this session to exist and as a pro musician myself, I know the kind of price for this kind of concert. I wish my songwriting and music to be exposed in the same way. I'm truly grateful for this session of Patrick Watson, this rendition is beyond the original recording. I would love to have this recording in Hi Res.
❤ Bravo M. Watson ... Votre grande sensibilite me touche ... Vous avez réussit après quelques années comme vous dites ... à decrire en mots et en musique ... un evenement sans pareil, un drame, une tragedie humaine ... un moment en Vie ... un moment disparu ... Ouf ... " Didn't know it was going to be so hard ... " Merci et Bravo à tous les musiciens et musiciennes, chanteuses ... qui vous accompagnent. Malgre Toute la peine ... cette chanson est et demeure Lumineuse... Grandiose ... Chapeau !
Yes a beautiful song. I will be learning to play this on the piano and although not a singer will be trying to do the lyrics too.. very moving song and comments. Love to all.
The windows turned to fishbowls The city to seas The cars were drowning underneath your feet The children were swimming from the top of the trees Crowds of umbrellas were staring in mis-belief Well Mary kept sewing Holding on to her TV Even if the water was rising past her knees Now here comes the river Coming on strong And you can't keep your head above these troubled waters Here comes the river Over the flames Sometimes you got to burn to keep the storm away Sometimes Sometimes you got to just Nobody told you it was going to be this hard Something's been building behind your eyes You lost what you hold onto You're losing control There ain't any words in this world That's gonna cure this pain Sometimes it's going to fall down on your shoulders But you're going to stand through it all Here comes the river Coming on strong But you can't keep your head above these troubled waters Here comes the river Over the flames Sometimes you got to burn to keep the storm away Sometimes You gots to just

How dose this only have 70 odd thousand views man, this literally brings tears to my eyes. Its profoundly beautiful☘️✌️🇮🇪
The most beautiful song I’ve heard in many years ... speechless
I'm in agreement
Each time I come back I cry... a river... and each time I want to like the video... one more time again. But we can only do it once.
It really is beautiful. You can only like it once, but you can share it as many times as you like!

His music takes me away from solitude and gives solace , trapped in my head to released as a bird in a summer sky
Wonderful to see him live yesterday evening in Lille. So much tenderness, darkness and laughter

Where has tune been all my life, stunning
Really great song and piano and the band growing in like a river...
The windows turned to fishbowls
The city to seas
The cars were drowning underneath your feet
The children were swimming from the top of the trees
Crowds of umbrellas were staring in mis-belief
Well Mary kept sewing
Holding on to her TV
Even if the water was rising past her knees
Now here comes the river
Coming on strong
And you can't keep your head above these troubled waters
Here comes the river
Over the flames
Sometimes you got to burn to keep the storm away
Sometimes
Sometimes you got to just
Nobody told you it was going to be this hard
Something's been building behind your eyes
You lost what you hold onto
You're losing control
There ain't any words in this world
That's gonna cure this pain
Sometimes it's going to fall down on your shoulders
But you're going to stand through it all
Here comes the river
Coming on strong
But you can't keep your head above these troubled waters
Here comes the river
Over the flames
Sometimes you got to burn to keep the storm away
Sometimes
You gots to just
