As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if Swifty is sponsored by Razer; this video showed how the moving parts move, and how a real gamer really uses the game pad during games. I was looking at using the Orbweaver for BDO when it comes out, and this video, unlike "talking head" videos, helped me feel confident buying the orbweaver. Thanks, Swifty, for being thorough and helping me pull the trigger on this purchase.
LERSE able I think he makes it pretty clear he's sponsored and being given gear by them. Granted, it'd be terrible if all information out on it was like this, but it's nice to have some videos that aren't just people trying to recoup costs making a shitty youtube unboxings.
He's not a salesman, he plays games for a living for crying out loud. Razer sponsors his equipment and maybe the trips to gaming events, but he surely doesn't sell the product the way a salesman does. He reviews it, and in his special case, it might even help in decisionmaking - plus, there are many people like him who are missing a finger, and might want this to optimise their game. Selling computer hardware myself, it's always good to have a review like this, because let's be honest, the packaging and the basic information on websites doesn't always help.
not so sure on the validity lol, he says that he used the nostromo for years, and if you look closely, you can see that it still has the little plastic wrap on the sides
***** You don't get used to gaming pads that quick unless you have used one before, so I am pretty sure he uses it. Plus the design of a normal gaming keyboard doesn't favor those with a missing pinky.
Dimitris Rozis Lol is losing a pinky that big of a deal, least important limb on your whole body, you can do 99.9% of the same stuff as with one. There is a csgo streamer who lost both his legs and both his arms, and got some specialized setup making him able to play, forgot his name.
Hey dude sorry to hear about your accident. To make you not feel as bad for losing your pinky about 1 year ago I broke my toes and they cracked the wrong way so now they are permanently broken. :/
Why is everyone saying sorry about the accident? It must've happened like 6-10 years ago at least because I remember watching Swifty so long ago and never hearing anything about this stuff. Unless it was like last year people are so freakin' weird.
+Lex Edmonds It was kind of a feature overview, which I found helpful. Feedback from a gamer is important to me, seeing how it operates is nice too. Did feel very promote-y, but I'm not sold on switching from a keyboard myself (Currently using a BlackWidow). Is the whole idea more keys on demand and better ergonomics for comfort I guess?
Idk about the orbweaver but the naga has been the best mouse ive had and it lasts for so long. I still use my 2014 naga for wow to this day. May I add the same naga I bought in 2014. The one and only razer mouse i ever bought.
I feel so bad for your accident man, no one ever told me about it and i've watched you for a month, you are an amazing man and keep up the good work on streaming and these videos!
What are your thoughts on the glue that gives out after a month of use and leaks all over the pad? Has Razer fixed this issue? And don't tell me "Oh, mine has never done that." Tons of people have had it happen, so one working out of a hundred thousand is irrelevant.
***** I contacted Razer, and the rep personally assured me that the Orb Weaver only leaks if manufactured incorrectly and that if it did leak, Razer would replace it with a new one as long as I held onto the purchase information. Not the serial number or proof of purchase, but the sale receipt itself. Maybe I'll get one after all. I'll let you know how it turns out.
The Razer Orbweaver Stealth is the product which finally managed to push my old gray, black, & orange Belkin n52 into the closet after a decade of use (actually both of them, i have 2, got a spare when they stopped making them). Personally, I recommend the stealth version over the regular version of orbweaver. Also, the orbweaver is kinda for bigger hands, I'd get the tartarus if you have smaller hands. I'm NOT a razer fangirl, but they finally surpassed the old Belkin design. Kudos razer.
I was looking at this or stealth version and the Tartarus. I see this has 5 more buttons. So does it do the same as the Tartarus but 5 additional buttons? Also is the stealth just smaller then? I believe the Tartarus can allow for thumb stick to act as a function key. So the 15 keys become different keys depending on which way you push thumb stick.
Chris Danna The tartarus has a smaller keypad area as it has 5 fewer buttons. This makes the tartarus more ideal for anyone with hands that are small to medium sized, as you can easily reach everything. The orbweaver takes a somewhat large hand to comfortably reach all 20 keys. The stealth version has mechanical key switches that take less force, so the keys have a more soft-touch feel, and are noticeably less 'clacky' sounding. I don't recommend using the 8 direction thumb stick for toggling key loadouts, because its very easy to hit a direction other than the one you intend. The old Nostomo's 4way Dpad was much better gor doing what you're describing. However there is a button above and below the thumb stick, which are ideal for toggling the keybinding loadouts. Most use only the upper button for this, and the lower button as a familiar-feeling spacebar for jumping. Personally, I program the spacebar onto one of the 20 main keys, so I can tap it while using my thumb for moving (forward, back, strafe L/R) on the thumbstick. The advantage becoming immediately obvious the first time you encounter a fence that you need to move forward while jumping to cross. This free's up the lower thumb button to be an additional keybind loadout toggle.
kathrynck I just use the space so I am used to my thumb already hitting my jump for me. as far as movement and jumping I have never had issues at all. the advantage as you said would be getting used to the thumb to move. still use up the same amount of slots though. as far as binding like I said to toggle key loadouts. for the most part I would probably just go with 2 additional loadouts. however I would use 3 buttons for one and 3 buttons for the other. take a compass for instances. or just in general North, South, East, West. North being up, South being down. I would go with Nort, North West, and North East all for the same toggle. and same with South, South East, and South West. 1 reason is I don't think I would ever need any more then the 3 toggles for my button layout then. and the second is that way I wont accidently push the stick North East when I wanted to be at North. I then can use the East and West just as a button something simple if I want. like maybe a bind on rules. this way I know I want to hit the bind that says no cheating of any kind. I can stop pushing buttons and then go to hit the West or left on the thumbstick. or just keep them as blanks. if the orbweaver has the 5 additional keys then that's cool. even if slightly hard to reach those can simply be binds or things that are not commonly used. the part I am not sure on is if I go with using the thumbstick to move with, which I may do as well so that when I go to my brothers house and play on a console I am some what partly there. but using that I would have to see how it works with strafe jumping. also I read that both the stealth and the not stealth are both mechanical. the stealth makes less noise as it uses a different mechanical mechanism. I guess one uses the blue type (non stealth kind) and the other a brown type). I have not used mechanical keyboards and such yet so I did not know about that stuff and still don't lol.
Since I am on a low budget, would you reccomend me getting the old orange and silver Belkin if I found one cheap? I know it's like the Nostromo, I am just worried about outdated or no software.
I have a belkin nostromo n52. and it works fine. at least with windows 7. I just had to go to belkin site and download the latest drivers for it. it has some less buttons but works great for me. had 5 keys across the top, 5 for the middle row, 4 on the bottom row and the 5th key is a mouse wheel. then it has 2 thumb keys and the arrow 8 way direction key. I use the direction keys for the shift. and the top thumb button as a toggle between each of the shift options. but you can select any key to do that for you. so most don't use a caps lock so you can have that be your toggle or shift key. for the most part if you keep your wasd keys, on each part the same then toggle works great. has 3 shift modes for it. you can also set up macros. which are great for fighting games or skateboard games or what not.
I watched your reviews on both the Nostromo and Naga, brought both and now cannot game without them, totally awesome products. Think maybe time to upgrade.
"my favorite peice of equipment" $500 earned in that sentance. of course hes ganna say its awesome because its a sponsored video! razer hat shirt and eqipment!
I've been waiting for this Orbweaver for a while now. Just ordered it along with a Goliathus pad and a Razer Kraken 7.1. The Green LEDs match my Naga and Deathstalker keyboard. Got an absolute steal on Amazon with an Open Box that was missing the manual. Thank you for the great review!
First video I've watched of this guy and I honestly can say he seems like a stand up respectable dude. Very down to earth and seems like he knows a thing or two about what he's doing. Got my subscription.
This is just what I needed demonstrated. For many years I've been just clicking while playing WOW and haven't wanted to use the keyboard because i don't like how it feels when simulating how it would feel to use it. Today I was exploring maybe getting a gaming keypad so wanted to see a demonstration of one being used. Excellent....thank you so much!!!! :D
I've only seen the Orbweaver a couple of times, but this just makes it look amazing! Also, pretty stellar fighting in those arenas in my opinion. I haven't played my Warrior in months, and now I'm itching to jump back on him.
I just got the Orbweaver after running with a Logitech G13 until just about two months ago, when I gave it away to a friend of mine. The OW was definitely worth the buy, and I haven't even used it in any gaming context except to try it out and bind its keys. It's extremely easy to work with. Just another piece of gear to add to the Razer Naga, the Razer Anansi, and a Razer Vespula mouse pad.
Hey Swifty I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I got the Razer Orbweaver because of this video. It showed me how useful it is. Thanks so much.
Not sure if I'll get a response to my question considering the age of this video but can you explain your key mappings on the gamepad? From everything you were saying about the options for the d-pad and thumb buttons I saw you use your thumb maybe three times during a fight. What are you doing that makes the game pad that much more useful than a keyboard?
always loved your videos swifty my computer has been down awhile wish i could have seen this one sooner to win the orbweaver but congratz to whoever won! another great video to the best warrior i have ever seen!
Love the video! I have the Razer Tartarus keypad and am working on programing it for Arma 3. I really like the adjustable features on the Orbweaver. This makes gaming on the TV so much easier and comfortable.
I find the D-pad to be a Godsend for movement. It changed my life. Beats me that some people don't take the time to get used to it. You are wasting 3 fingers for WASD movement and it slows your maneuvers and ability mashing.
Way to go Swifty! That was incredible! Thanks for all the heads up about the Orbweaver, I think if I ever get it that it'll be an insane piece of gear to game with! Keep up the great videos :)
do you just game using it? i'm looking into purchasing either the orbweaver or the tartarus, i paly some games, but not many, mostly it'll be used in conjunction with a 3d mouse and a tablet for content creation and to essentially get the keyboard out of the way. if you've used this for content creation, how's the experience?
Dude, you were part of convincing my missus that I needed one of these. Since you and I have something in common....when I was 14 years old I was mowing the lawn at my parents house on the ride on lawn mower and my pinky on my left hand got caught in the exposed drive chain and got cut/torn off right to the third knuckle. I have stuck things onto my keys to raise the control key up a bit which worked.......sort of, but the Orbweaver is what I need. I had an old Belkin Nostromo lying around but its keys are clagged up and stick down or dont press at all. Time to start saving a dollar when I can to get one. Can you tell me is there a big difference between the one you use in this video and the Chroma series? Cheers mate and keep up the good work.
GOD! I SWEAR, I was in ''shock'' when I knew you are from Puerto Rico! Keep doing this videos man! Saludos desde Venezuela con mucha admiración por tu trabajo con Razer y el genio que eres al jugar World of Warcraft. Suerte Swifty.
Hey Swifty, I know you made this vid a couple years ago. I was wondering if you had ever thought about using the thumb pad for directional use? Or do you think it doesn't work as well? Thanks!
Dammm with that setup you can see the matrix can't you? I use the same setting the Nostromo and the Naga, Keyboard and mouse gaming sucks without them. One tiny correction Belkin had the original N52 which was red and grey, than they had the N52 Tournament Edition which was the first time it was paired with the Razor brand. So is the Orbweaver a big enough upgrade to justify the purchase from a Nostromo?
I am looking at switching to a gaming pad away from a regular keyboard because there are always so many abilities that you need to have ready at all times that a keyboard just isn't 100% for me. Right now I rely heavily on in-game macros so I can get everything I want done in games. Your review was very helpful!
(Note: Never heard of you before) My thoughts on this were "Wtf is an Orbweaver, and why is this joker goin' crazy over it." Then I watched on and thought, "That, sounds incredible!" (Also, great overview. Didn't sound biased and gave a great "idea" of how it works.) Then I saw the gameplay. You rocked the house and with the Orbweaver barely moved! Merely a few twitches here and there! Now I'm hooked. I HAVE to buy the orbweaver and try it out. If I get my unemployment... And the mouse! Need it!
I know I'm not swifty, but it depends on what you want The regular orbweaver is really tactile and springy, but it's loud, and if your a let's player it may get annoying The stealth is quieter, less springy, but it will be less tactial I personally, after using both kinds of blackwidows, would reccomend the stealth due to audio issues, but it is all your opinion Stealth - Quieter, less tactile Normal - Really loud, very springy and tactile
Long time ago I bougth Belkin Nostromo key pad just to test how it works, and fell in love with its easy controlling. Since then I haven't used regular keyboards in games. I have now Orbweaver Elite. Different compared to regular keyboard? Yes, it's different, easier and funnier to use. Just my opinion, but it works and feels better than a keyboard.
Okay, this guy is like my new best friend. I am such a fan of Razer, since about Christmas, and I have the new 2014 BlackWidow and 2014 Naga, a Megasoma 2, and a Kraken 7.1. I literally have the ultimate versatile gaming outfit. It's amazing. I hope you've upgraded to the newest, Swifty, because it's amazing.
I know this is a really strange question, but can you use this thing effectively with you feet? Cause I have carpal tunnel in both hands and if I can use my feet to more efficiently play games rather than clicking manually on abilities using my mouse with my feet (i.e in dota the spells and abilities) that would be fantastic
Having so many buttons available with one or two fingers REALLY frees up a lot of mobility, making the entire playtime extremely easy on your hands. I find using a standard keyboard/mouse, my left hand gets 95% of the work, making me get fatigued after a while.
Is there a wireless version of this? I want it so bad but it's useless to me if it's not wireless as I game on my 100" projector screen sitting about 8 meters back.
Totally agree. What's the point of having this awesome piece of equipment if not using the 8 way joystick? I mean, you can just remap a simple keyboard. Sick pvping btw!
***** What do you think of the Razor Tartarus compared to the Orbweaver/Nostramo? Getting back into WoW and I use to use the Nostromo. Which would be a better upgrade?
So this replaces the keyboard? I'm confused lol. I'd still like a left handed razer naga to go with my blackwidow razer keyboard but I can never find them when I go to the store.
Bought the razer naga shortly after starting wow and I could never play without it. About to invest in the orb weaver. 10/10 for Razer 2 year old mouse and still kickin
Believe me, in high level Arenas as a warrior, you don't need health numbers. As far as binds, they're 100% personal preference, and for where his abilities are, I assume he does something similar to me, and puts a lot of things together in macros, as well as putting less commonly used abilities on those side bars, and them hiding them.
A few years later but I had a question. My son is into pc games and he's only 7. Keyboards are a little big for him so I got him the razer turret bc its smaller and a quality brand. Its a good size for typing but still a little big for gameplay key placement. He's interested now so Im doing what I can to harness his interest now. I don't want him to get bad keyboard habits from the way he has to reach the keys for gameplay. Would the orbweaver be a good alt for him (2016 version of course)? The orbweaver looks a little big too but the ability to program keys means we can program the ones he can reach lol. A mouse with the number pad on the side would be awesome but their far too big for him yet. Thanks Ill sub so I can check back on uploads.
I think Obweaver is too big for your son. I'm 17 and I have big hand size for my age, but I can't use the top corner buttons without moving my hand. Maybe a small keyboard will be good instead of Obweaver. If you Google "60% keyboard", you'll find some keyboards which is 60% smaller than average keyboard. Sorry for my bad English(I'm Japanese), I hope my suggestion will help you and your son:)
Sir...can pls answer if u can... I have a question.. I think i want to buy gaming set... But , i got some prob coz i dont know which is better , steelseries or razer... Ty!!
Swifty love your videos man I'm a big nostromo guy myself, im about to upgrade to an orbweaver and new naga since my laser decided to stop working on it out of the blue
Swifty! I'm a long time follower and love your videos, but this one gets me! I have used the N-52 since Vanilla! I thought i was the only one! Glad you're on board with this equipment from Razer!! I would love to win the Orbweaver ^_-
great video bro, can I use this in fighting game & program all my combos special moves to each button? I play a lot of fighting games & I do a lot of combos & special moves. so I want to know if this will work with my fighting games.
As much as everyone hates on Swifty, he's a great player... there is no denying that. And I honestly couldn't think of anyone better that Razer could have chose to represent/promote them & their equipment/products.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if Swifty is sponsored by Razer; this video showed how the moving parts move, and how a real gamer really uses the game pad during games. Yeah, well he isn't. It sucks to lose a pinky or any limbs at all, but it's also nice to see that he can still have fun.

this makes me happy :D

you get used to it but everyday my toes hurt :(

Huh?? He's sponsored by them, and gets free gear.
razer makes really good stuff their pre built laptops and desktops suck considering how much you have to pay
Yeahh I agree with you 100%. Got myself a naga too!
this is by far the best product review i've seen in years. Someone reviewing a good product that he actually needs

Eric Qian how did you know? Is it the razor mouse, keyboard, gamepad, tshirt or his cap?
I'm just kidding. Look at all that razer gear.
WHY CAN'T RAZER MAKE A LEFT HANDED VERSION OF THIS
For the glory of satan ofcourse
Wouldn't it technically be a right handed version? AYYY LMAO
+Jean Paul Blanchette I agree, it would be nice. I am ambidextrous though so I have no prob :P
Learn to use your right hand on the mouse, think of it this way right handed people need to learn how to use their left on the keyboard
Kel'Thuzad Yes, and right handed people cad to learn how to use there left hand to ride a bike.
I had the old Belkin until it broke. Your video got me nostalgic for it so I just ordered an Orbweaver. Keep up the good work!
Naga 2012 and Nostromo has been my setup of choice for years.
man, the orbweaver is perfect for people who are serious about pvp etc. good job on the review swifty
Last arena battle was just pure warrior poetry.
amazing videos as usual Swifty! following you since Lichking!
that last battle... that was amazing
Even though your not swifty, I appreciate the respond. It's good to know from other user experience before getting one. Thanks, it helps a lot! :)
Thanks!
Loving that twins of duality aong in the background
Dammm with that setup you can see the matrix can't you? I use the same setting the Nostromo and the Naga, Keyboard and mouse gaming sucks without them. One tiny correction Belkin had the original N52 which was red and grey, than they had the N52 Tournament Edition which was the first time it was paired with the Razor brand. So is the Orbweaver a big enough upgrade to justify the purchase from a Nostromo?
My wife encouraged me to read old PC Powerplay magazines to make sure I didn't miss anything. I'm SO glad I did! Gotta get one of these:).
I am looking at switching to a gaming pad away from a regular keyboard because there are always so many abilities that you need to have ready at all times that a keyboard just isn't 100% for me. Right now I rely heavily on in-game macros so I can get everything I want done in games. Your review was very helpful!
Love the gameplay, how long did it take to get use to using that thing?
That braided cord...unraveled and was a nightmare. I've got pretty good and ALT+ and CTRL+ But I see the benefits of this
Swifty you're great, watching you made me start to pvp on my warrior again, and taught me some really helpful things.
Need it!
I know I'm not swifty, but it depends on what you want
The regular orbweaver is really tactile and springy, but it's loud, and if your a let's player it may get annoying
The stealth is quieter, less springy, but it will be less tactial
I personally, after using both kinds of blackwidows, would reccomend the stealth due to audio issues, but it is all your opinion
Stealth - Quieter, less tactile
Normal - Really loud, very springy and tactile
Long time ago I bougth Belkin Nostromo key pad just to test how it works, and fell in love with its easy controlling. Since then I haven't used regular keyboards in games. I have now Orbweaver Elite. Different compared to regular keyboard? Yes, it's different, easier and funnier to use. Just my opinion, but it works and feels better than a keyboard.
I was just doing some thinking what good the ORDWEAVER IF YOU HAVE A ONE SHOT MACRO beside comfortably
That was so amazing, and sorry for what happened bro. But it is still crazy you can do that. Please have fun with your orb weaver, and peace
Bought this partially because of this video. Haven't regretted it at all, it's a kickass piece of hardware. Thanks Swifty :)
Could I see what keybinds you put on your Naga? I have one and I have my actionbars on there, and I'm messing up my right wrist...
I love the sound that that mouse at when you pressed the keys
Vghs made me fall in love even more with razer, i have razer electras, razer keyboard, razer mouse all razer and probably going to get this.
Amazing. I've used anything like this for gaming, always used standard keyboard. I may have to look into this. Thank you for introducing this to me.
Would you choose orbweaver or nostromo? I heard that orbweaver has a bit of wobbling going on. Is it true?
God, that was crazy to see you dominate those arenas by yourself..
do you even use the 8 way joystick for moving, or did you program wasd on the keypad itself?
Totally agree. What's the point of having this awesome piece of equipment if not using the 8 way joystick? I mean, you can just remap a simple keyboard. Sick pvping btw!
ManOzzY I think he uses the joystick for modifiers/modifier combinations.
ManOzzY I use the joystick as a modifier and to look around . playing games with one hand while doin homework :p
Pandaslaya WTF
watching this video I hope Razer make a version of Orbweaver to use with right hand. To use just like you, but with my left handed Razer Naga
***** What do you think of the Razor Tartarus compared to the Orbweaver/Nostramo? Getting back into WoW and I use to use the Nostromo. Which would be a better upgrade?
***** Thx yea i brought one two days after the post. Forgot he doesnt really reply on these. Thx Light
That last kill was too sick
So this replaces the keyboard? I'm confused lol. I'd still like a left handed razer naga to go with my blackwidow razer keyboard but I can never find them when I go to the store.
Only whilst gaming, the only thing you will ever need a keyboard for is typing:)
go to razerzone.com
go to store
go to mouses
click on razer naga
there is a drop down box that says "right hand"
click left hand
MAGIC!
I agree with Thomas i have the mad catz striker 7 but i do think that with a pad on the side it would make my collection complete !
Bought the razer naga shortly after starting wow and I could never play without it. About to invest in the orb weaver. 10/10 for Razer 2 year old mouse and still kickin
I've always wanted a Razer Nostromo, and now there's this! oh my god!
This would be HUGELY helpful for support spells on my Paladin for arenas!
I'm contemplating whether to get the Nostromo or the Orbweaver, what do you guys think is the better product?
Yes that helps, thank you. Before I was just typing small or kid keyboard and they were all junk. Ill check them out more.
Greg Hines , yea I just got one and My hands are huge, still it just about perfectly fits my hand.
Sir...can pls answer if u can...
I have a question..
I think i want to buy gaming set...
But , i got some prob coz i dont know which is better , steelseries or razer...
Ty!!
Love that green light up
Just got a Tartarus and I love it, thanks man for the video I am becoming less of a clicker every day
Swifty love your videos man I'm a big nostromo guy myself, im about to upgrade to an orbweaver and new naga since my laser decided to stop working on it out of the blue
Swifty! I'm a long time follower and love your videos, but this one gets me! I have used the N-52 since Vanilla! I thought i was the only one! Glad you're on board with this equipment from Razer!! I would love to win the Orbweaver ^_-
Keep the good work up Swifty, u are the reason i started playing wow again!
nevr seen one used before nince to know you can still enjoy gaming with it
im really proud of that you keep play with your fingers !!!! its amazing
Why can't you hit alt without your pinky? It's right by space, it's a thumb button.
great video bro, can I use this in fighting game & program all my combos special moves to each button? I play a lot of fighting games & I do a lot of combos & special moves. so I want to know if this will work with my fighting games.
As much as everyone hates on Swifty, he's a great player... there is no denying that. And I honestly couldn't think of anyone better that Razer could have chose to represent/promote them & their equipment/products.
why ditch the keyboard for one of these? I don't get it ... like why would I wanna reach up my desk to type?
Any chance I can buy your old Nostromo, mine is broken and the Orbweaver is shite by comparison.
