Nope buddy, you will just harm them, some species will on only slow down but they can walk on a tape. Its better to use baby powder or cooking oil which is available in your home buddy.
Nice suggestion bud, but scotch tape turns darker as it gets old and it will slowly be penetrated by the ants waste especially at the botton part, it will work for some time tho, but your biggest problem will be the lid corner fixtures.
@@Dcolony true, but how about from the outside instead of from the inside, but do this from the get go while things are right and tight. But like i said this is a nice long lasting solution with little maintenance. My suggestion was just A cheap solution for beginners.
I think there's a good moral to the story for this one: Being cheap can be good, but being too cheap, you pay a more expensive price in the long run.
I had 100+ small ants, with 10 queens, escape. The screws on those have to be SUPER TIGHT.
One slightly loose screw and the ants will break out.
Just be careful in tightening buddy the acrylic might break.
You should make any products and sell them, you can turn a cheap ant nest and outwork into a escape proof one, very nice👍

I'm not really sure buddy, but in my opinion the hardy ones does well on this type of formicarium, like the dry loving tetramoriums.
