    My Sonicare just broke which I was a bit frustrated about so I decided to give Oral B a shot. The difference is dramatic. With the oral B you feel like you are getting a deep clean where the Sonicare felt very surface in comparison. I now understand what everyone was raving about with the Oral B. If you are on the fence, just pull the trigger on the Oral B. You won’t regret it.

    Sonicare's travel case also has a charger. Even nicer with a built-in USB cable.
    Thanks for actually showing how to brush. I still not sure whether I brush properly with the sonicare. But will try Oral-B now. To see if there's a difference.
    Update: I'm more happy with Oral-B IO because of showing insufficient as well over-pressure. Also it doesn't stop automatically at the end, philips stresses me somehow that I need to finish within the time. Cheaper brush heads as well. I'm not sure about quality of brushing, I might be subjective about IO being a little better. Still carry the sonicare on trips though because of the nicer travel case and brush head cap.

  • @autogatos
    @autogatos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Thank you for all the info! I’m buying my first electric toothbrush and struggling to decide between the iO 9 or one of the older (non-iO) Oral-B models (I really like the look/colors of the Genius series). However I’ve been trying out my husband’s Oral-B Smart Limited and it’s kind of intense, even on sensitive mode.
    I have very sensitive teeth, and very fragile gums, and I’m worried this might be too intense for me and also don’t love how loud it is, but I still really prefer the round brush head of the Oral-B. Is the iO 9 much quieter and more gentle than the Genius and Smart lines?

    • @TheMamaDentist
      @TheMamaDentist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      One thing they really tried to improve with the iO series was the volume, I find it's much much quieter than my sonicare!

    So far I watched 5 youtube videos for the best brush And none are the same. The reason animals don't get cavities is because they don't eat sugary stuff and never brush.

    • @TheMamaDentist
      @TheMamaDentist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's why I like to share the factors I look for in a brush. What is most important to you will dictate what is best for those factors. And most humans still eat sugary, acidic, and/or starchy sticky processed foods, so preventative measures are needed.

  • @RandomActsOfBlindness
    @RandomActsOfBlindness 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m looking into the I09. I’m completely blind, so I’m a little nervous that I won’t even be able to turn it on. Is it dependent on a physical power button, or is it all operated from the touchscreen? Apps are usually accessible, is there a power button in the app by chance? Will I still be able to use the pressure features without seeing a little smiley face? Lol I hope this isn’t too weird, and I truly appreciate your time! Thanks for the video.

    • @TheMamaDentist
      @TheMamaDentist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The power and mode buttons are separate and distinct from the touch screen on the handle of the brush. The pressure sensor unfortunately doesnt offer an audible cue, only color change. There is a dostinct buzz encouraging moving to the nezt quadrant every 30 seconds. I am not sure about app accessibility but on instagram OralB is very responsive and can likely answer in detail.

    • @TheMamaDentist

    I love the video and the comparisons and I would like to ask a question and that question is that is the oral B I O series 9 electric toothbrush okay for a person who has sensitive teeth and receding gums? Because all the videos on TH-cam it seems like every dentist or dental hygienist always recommends the Philips sonicare for people with sensitive teeth or receding gums and I have always used oral B but my oral B toothbrush has finally broken down and I want to buy a new electric toothbrush so if I went with the oral B IO series 9 or IO series 7 would that be okay for a person with receding gums and sensitive teeth? Being that it has the magnetic motor and is gentler on teeth from what I have researched so I'm having a hard time choosing between which toothbrush to get and would love your input and looking forward to your answer And thank you for putting out videos like this that are very helpful & good

    I bought an oral b, and it lasted like 3 months. The cleaning was really good, and it felt great. But it was so disappointing that it damaged so fast. Now I'm not even sure it's worth it to buy another electric tb anymore because they are really expensive for them to be damaging like that

    • @TheMamaDentist

    • @annjfk

      Same, I know there was some research out that concluded that the oscillating-rotating technique of Oral B was significantly better than the sonic type brushes. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24282870/
      I went for the cheapest, simplest pro version that uses 2 AA batteries. I really enjoyed using that simple device. I think mine was called the pro cross action and it was a black toothbrush.
      Oh another thing, maybe I’d go buy the brand that has the cheapest one or that comes with the cheapest refills. Very important for me.
      Of course, everyone says, those power brushes are better than manual toothbrushes and toothbrushing in general is mostly about technique.

    • @aaronv7820
      @aaronv7820 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Timers are literally one of, if not the most impactful benefit electronic tooth brushes provide. On average, the simple fact the toothbrush pushes you to clean for 30 seconds in each quadrant has the biggest impact on teeth. This is for most people and not someone who already cleans for 2 mins.
      Those who clean for 2 minutes with proper technique achieve similar results with manual toothbrushes vs electric.
