- I'VE ALWAYS BEEN BAFFLED WHY THE FIRST SHOT OF SUPERMAN RETURNS WAS OF LEX LUTHOR. IT REALLY TOOK ME OUT OF THE FILM. WHEN THE TEXT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE TOLD US SUPERMAN DISAPPEARED, I FOR ONE WANTED TO KNOW.... WHERE?!!
BRYAN SINGER FILMED A WONDERFUL RETURN TO KRYPTON SCENE TO EXPLAIN THIS. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN BAFFLED AS TO WHY IT WAS DELETED, CONSIDERING THERE WERE MANY OTHER TOTALLY USELESS SCENES IN SR.
THIS IS HOW I THINK SUPERMAN RETURNS SHOULD HAVE OPENED. THAT IS TO SAY, THIS IS HOW I IMAGINED SINGER ORIGINALLY INTENDED IT TO OPEN. COMMENTS, POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!! - บันเทิง

Why on God's name they took away this intro??? This intro gives a new whole dimension to the entire movie and it would have saved the film and Brandon Routh's career!

blame the studios,. the keeps pushing and cutting rewriting and messes with the original intended vision of the director ,. this happen a lot with movies,. just look how awful BVS ended up to be,. they butcher the movies down to fit that certain 2 hour max window,. if it is longer they cut it down,. cause they fear people wont see a long movie over 2 hours ,. its crazy , but this is how it works,. this scene cut here costed about 10 m dll,. to make,. did not matter , cut it away!!

This opening would have given Superman Returns its own flavor at the start instead of feeling so much like a remake.
Well , the story behind it is that Singer was supposed to make the
sequel to SR and wanted to re-release SR in IMAX (maybe 3D) just before
the theatrical release of this sequel. And THIS Krypton intro was
supposed to be re-edited in (along with a few other scenes, including
the ones explaning that the news about Krypton was a trap from Lex
Lutor, all along, to send him away during his trial...), making the new
release more of an event, kind of like the Star Wars Special Editions...
But SR, although not being a bomb, underperformed, and Singer never
made his "Wrath Of Khan of Superman movies", with the battle of "New
Krypton" at the center of it.
This explains a lot to were Superman left and to have a glips of his planet it got destroyed before the scene of Superman crashed lands the crystal ship to his mum's farm.Thank you 😊😁

They did actually film a death scene for Brandos Jorel..... It's on the blu ray special edition..... however it was never used.
It's left up to the viewer how they died..... I always wanted Jorels death scene as well.
Death scene? They were blown to smithereens.
@@maestroclassico5801 yeah, they had a scene where JOREL is killed by debri & Lara is by his side. As you said though , they all perished in the end, so Donner obviously saw fit to delete said scene as it served no real, actual purpose.
@@VERMISIMILITUDE Zach Snyder just had Zod KILL Jor-EL BEFORE Krypton exploded.....that was a "choice"
Awesome! The travel from Krypton to Earth makes more sense. I loved this movie and it's homage to Donner's/Lester's first two films. I don't understand the publics disdain for the film. Just saw Man of Steel and liked it greatly, but it lacked the heartfelt emotion of it's predecessors.
AlanScotti69. Man Of Steel made almost 4 times the amount of money that " Superman Returns" made. " Man Of Steel" was the better film with a bigger and better cast playing the iconic characters from the Superman DC Comics stories.
Without John Williams Superman Score this scene feels like it is from the movie Alien(1979) with Sigourney weaver !
Superman Returns turns 18 on June 28, 2024 next month. Brandon Routh Clark Kent / Kalel / Superman vs. Kevin Spacey Lex Luthor.

Dricent yes I did. I actually was messing around with the cut & decided for some reason to take it out. I’m think of doing a brand revision of this scene actually!! Thank you for watching though!!!

can you add anymore extra footage on this that not on the movie? that been also deleted?
I shall do 298Nova, I actually completely redone the whole movie with all deleted scenes. I even put in the scene where Brandon Routh comes out of the Daily Planet closet in his Superman outfit.... & when he runs down the alleyway, I cut to a close up of is face.

Yes indeed there is. There's a very interesting scene where Perry meets Superman.
the entire movie cut was over 4 hours long,. but then the cutting started, and we ended up with what we have today,. same happen with mos, and bvs,. they cut and butcher the movies down to fit that 2 hour window,.
+Thor Kipperberg Absolutelly. Very true words. Te sad state of play within the current mainstream Hollywood system is this ridiculous "under 3 hours so we can get more viewing fitted in" attitude. It makes utterly no sense to me, they're not giving the audiences the respect & intelligence they deserve.

exactly,. instead of giving the director the potential to tell what he wants to tell the story fells short in time and development, Making what would be a good film into a cut and butchered mess. It has happen on several occations.

His stepfather died in the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve as Superman. His Stepmother is still alive.
he should have worn chris reeve suit.
