Like I always said: great landscape and wonderful nature. It is now my third through-hike with you on TH-cam and I like it! Thanks for sharing that adventure. ATB, Christian
Solo time is good sometimes, but glad you made some hiking buddies out there - the trail looks the most rarely traveled of all that you have done. Beautiful country and very jealous. Keep trucking!
Wow that was amazing! :) Love it! :) Greetings from Ireland! :) I love taking videos of our castles and aerial as well ! :) Cheers and well done! :) Thumbs up from me! :)
Beautiful video, very nice nice capture of the Bob Marshall and Chinese wall. Were you able to see the northern lights over the past few days, we had a G4 geomagnetic storm that was producing some great aurora sightings.
09:55 emmmm!!!??! :O Nutty genius :p Joe thank you so much for sharing this adventure :) You Yanks :p, have one of the best hiking trails system on this planet :) And you're proving that with each upload :) Happy hiking and onward!!! :)
You should consider hiking the Hayduke Trail after you've completed the CDT. It's not as long as the big three (around 800 miles) but I hear the scenery is amazing and that it's extremely challenging.
Beautiful! Unbelievable sunset at 24:34. There is something special about hiking solo. Your are doing a great job. How many miles per day are you averaging? Thanks for sharing. Keep hiking!
Looks like you made a smart choice on the flip flop. I hiked a bit of the CDT near Copper Mountain, CO last week and there's still a good amount of snow... You shouldn't have any problems by the time you make it there. Looks like you swapped out the sleeping pads? I imagine your sleep is a lot better now. -Andy
Joe, videos 6 and 7 have the best scenery/landscapes of all you videos of the PCT and AT! You've got to be digging it. Are you using an insect repellant on your legs? Do you have bear spray?
Seems like there isn't a lot of wildlife through these sections?... or maybe those are not the things you are trying to capture? I would think there would be herds of elk and deer from time to time in the wooded areas, along with other smaller "critters." However, with that being said, I do think your videos of the landscape are incredible. I especially liked the timelapse of the sunset.
Nice upload man, keep it up! I dont know how I would handle the loneliness out there. It's beautiful, but I start missing people after like two days of backpacking.
Wow, downright amazing. How many miles are you hiking in average and how much water do you need to carry along the divide like that? A bit scary. Funny though to see that hut up there. Thanks for sharing!
At least 25 a day is kind of my goal and normally it's a little more. With larger mileage like that, I am never carrying more than 2 liters of water. Normally 1.
Is that possible to carry that little water at that part of the trail? I'd expect at least 3 liters in reserve at 25 miles a day. And that's a really good number by the way. Nice work!
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of financial situation are you in to be able to hike all these trails? I love your videos and I'd like to hike the triple crown someday. Also that hut was really weird, kinda curious as to what that was
Joe, I'm going through your series and was wondering with you putting in so many miles per day, do you ever feel like you are not IN the wilderness, but just going through the wilderness?
Never! I'm always moving at a steady 3mph which is plenty slow enough to see and take in everything. If I find a particularly beautiful or worthy spot, I'll stop for as long as is necessary.
thanks for posting, i got off the couch two weeks ago and began training for the pct next april. at just 6 miles a day right now and i feel it in my shins pretty good.i think if i keep walking and upping the mileage little at a time i'll be ready in april. i'll be 59 .good luck on your trek joe.
markaf1 Careful not to over extend yourself beforehand. Ive been doing this a long time and have come across numerous thru-hikers that injured out early in the trail from over preparing. Probably due to unnoticeable minor injuries that happened while training that get exasperated on trail. Getting your cardio up is all you really need to do beforehand. Stair climbing for a half hour every other day is the way I prepare.
How does this section compare physically to the AT section in the Whites in NH? I don't see any of those never ending stone staircases, but it looks like some sick elevation changes.
Awesome views again. Nature is at it's best. Thanks for posting and good to see you catching up to some one of your hiking group.
The spine of the Rockies! Absolutely beautiful country and more amazing footage! Thanks for bringing us along. Great job Joe!
Just watching your videos again ! Thank you. Heading sobo next year.
Hope your travels are going well

Joe, thanks again for another great video. Awesome trip, camera views are fantastic. Beautiful country.
thanks for another great video Joe

Wide open spaces. man gotta love that. You can see for miles and miles and miles and miles,, oh yeah..

Unfortunately no.

Your best yet! I would love to hike Bob Marshall with a fly rod!
bloodyeyeful I would like to hike Bob Marshall with Katherine Heigle.
shurppa64 I'm sure she'd say yes if you asked her.

Another awesome video. You rock! I wonder what killed all those pine trees? Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming!
Fire, beetles, and fungi from my understanding. Most of what you saw was fire damage though.
The guy at 13:08 was hilarious. The rest of it; beautiful! Love the west!
I always like going South; somehow, it feels like going downhill.: Treebeard:
Thanks for sharing all these! Did you see any grizzly bears on this stretch or the last stretch before this one?
I saw one in Glacier and many signs of them south of Glacier through the Bob Marshall. The one in glacier just ran off into the woods in front of me.
Hey Joe I really enjoy your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure. I was wondering, do you carry bear spray and a bear canister?
Im carrying bear spray through grizzly country.
Joe, videos 6 and 7 have the best scenery/landscapes of all you videos of the PCT and AT! You've got to be digging it. Are you using an insect repellant on your legs? Do you have bear spray?
No insect spray, but I do have bear spray for grizzly country.

left goes to the Gulf of Mexico. The CDT looks like the winner of the 3 thru hikes

When you're doing that many miles, you can carry a little less since you pass water more often.
WOW!
Keep it up! What have you been using as a sleeping pad nowadays?
I'm back to my old Neoair xlite from the pct. so comfortable...
Joe Brewer we were wondering about your pad. Thanks for the awesome video and spectacular views!
Hey Joe, which trail would be your favorite so far?
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of financial situation are you in to be able to hike all these trails? I love your videos and I'd like to hike the triple crown someday. Also that hut was really weird, kinda curious as to what that was

Hey Joe, what's your next big adventure going to be?
That's a good question. New Zealand's Te Araroa? Paddling Alaska's inside passage? Something else? Have any good ideas?
thanks for posting, i got off the couch two weeks ago and began training for the pct next april. at just 6 miles a day right now and i feel it in my shins pretty good.i think if i keep walking and upping the mileage little at a time i'll be ready in april. i'll be 59 .good luck on your trek joe.

What's with all the dead trees?
No Grizzly? I am shocked you haven't encountered any, esp at night....
Only ended up seeing one, in Glacier.
Any grizzly sightings
One in Glacier, but none here.
Strictly maps or do you reference a GPS from time to time?
Ley maps and Guthooks GPS app. The app makes things super quick and easy.
15:08 (other dude - gee, this crossing looks shady) "Hey, do you want footage of yourself for this TH-cam thing your doing?"
Heheh, he fell in while crossing after me :-)
How does this section compare physically to the AT section in the Whites in NH? I don't see any of those never ending stone staircases, but it looks like some sick elevation changes.
I'd say it's on par as far as toughness/elevation goes.
Have you seen any girls on the trail at all?
Yeah, plenty!
