  • It seems to be the most popular trend on TH-cam. All of our favorite creators are claiming they are leaving TH-cam. I get it. I wanted to share my thoughts on why I think so many people are moving on.
This video was filmed entirely on the Osmo Pocket 3 with DJI Mic:

I haven't watched you (no offence, just life happens) for a long time, since your wedding videographer days, but you hit the nail on your head.
Although one thing you also missed out is, there's quite a few people leaving or taking some longer extended breaks/cutting down uploads purely down to ... they've earned way more than enough and for them it's almost like it's time to just live life how they want with their savings now.

Thanks for coming back. No apologies needed, I'd love for you to hang around more often. You're absolutely correct as well. There are a ton more things related to this topic. I agree that's a huge one for some people. They've realized money doesn't buy happiness, but now they can use their money to enjoy doing what they truly want.

I remember Rush Limbaugh used to say often, if you want to be truly successful find what it is you like to do and figure out a way to make money from it. And so right he was. Nothing motivates like the love of doing what you are doing. Warren Buffet, well into his 90s, still goes to work every day working hard on his “long term” investments. Clint Eastwood also in his 90s still making movies. David Attenborough 97, possibly the greatest nature documentary filmmaker ever, just finished his latest work - Planet Earth III. These people are motivated by love, not money. Focus on doing what you love doing and do it as best as you can. Don’t worry about the money. The money will come.

I can sum up the "why" in one short phrase so everyone can stop making these videos: It begins feeling like a job and that burns them out. There, done.

Great summary. I agree. I really enjoy watching these videos though personally, I like to hear everyones perspective. You should make one as well.

Technically, a job is still a job. Even if its a dream job, it's still a job 😂 Best example would be the first guy who reached 100m subs, who now casually uploads

This was a fantastic message! All aspiring content creators should hear this. In my opinion, it is important to have realistic expectations with an evolving exit strategy.

So good Scott! When I do a video on this I’ll likely surmise that the reduction in long form viewership due to the shorts feed and a shift in content consumption is also a factor.
Imagine waking up one day and your income is literally chopped in half?

Definitely an interesting conversation for sure. I’m just glad that I don’t do TH-cam for videos, that’s all I know

You are so on point with this message. I successfully completed your 30-day vlog challenge a few years ago and instantly imagined everything you just stated. I literally told myself I did not want TH-cam to be anything more than an every now and then fun thing to do. At first I thought it would be cool, but after really giving it a hard look, I stayed in my lane. Successful TH-camrs work incredibly hard to build that brand to reach the income level you speak of. I never want to reach "burnout" of the things I love doing so much. So far, it's working. I love making content, filming, and photography. Believe it or not, video production and photography is now my full-time job, but I only work when I want to work which is about one job per month. 🙂

Yes. It's a tremendous little camera for sure. Gotta change some of the settings on the audio device, but it's been fun to use.

In a nutshell: For now TH-cam is still a place where successful youtubers can still make money and get personal satisfaction, but the less people get paid the less motivation they have to produce good content.

Yep. But when some people are going through a rough patch in their current situation, they forget that it didn't always feel that way, and they have to do what they can to get back into things feeling positive and what caused that. Not just jumping into the next thing.

For TH-cam you pretty much have to make videos that you love like Rick Beato. Don't care about the sponsors and reviews and just have fun.
