    I purchased this same combination yesterday for content creation. Do you remember if you applied any DB gain to your mic, and if so, how much? (I have trouble with it). Great video, new sub!

      Very cool. Regarding extra DB, it didn't. My way of testing is simply opening different programs like QuickTime or Ecamm and recording to test the limit.

      Thanks dude! Zero processing! Literally plug and play. Elgato does have a free software mixer for download but I don't use it. Only thing I do is add voice iso and loudness in FCP.

      @@KevinKolbe Thanks. Can the PodMic connect to the Computer directly or u need the Elgato Wave XLR? Strange. Any ideas?

    • @KevinKolbe
      @KevinKolbe  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PhillipLearnTeach You'd need to get an XLR adapter to connect an XLR mic like the PodMic to your computer. You'd also need an XLR mic that doesn't require "Phantom Power" since most adaptors are just that, an adaptor.

    • @KevinKolbe
      @KevinKolbe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've also got the Rode VideoMic GO II. Great little mic. The "hollow" sound your describe doesn't have anything to do with cable. Its all about your room and how close the mic is to you.
      I've used mine on a boom. I get it as close to my mouth or whomever is talking to get the best sound. Even then I might add "voice isolation" in FCP.

    Hello, first of all, I want to thank you for this video. I would like your advice. I would like to purchase a podmic with Elgato Wave Low Profile Mic and wave xlr , the Sennheiser HD 560S. what do you think? Are there better alternatives at the same price?

    • @KevinKolbe
      @KevinKolbe  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I think that's a good combo. I've been using the Elgato LP arm for a while now and like it but if the mic is too heavy it tends to droop some. I'm playing with the Samson q9u but too early to share how I feel. Otherwise, yes the Rode Podmic is solid as is the Elgato Wave XLR.

    Thank you very much for this video, I had a question. I have a shure SM7B that I’m going to connect to my wave xlr when it comes in the mail. I want to connect it to my Sony 4K camera. From what I can figure out so far, I have to connect the XLR cord to the back of my microphone and connect it to the wave XLR. But how do I connect the camera to the wave, well also being able to monitor the audio?

    • @KevinKolbe
      @KevinKolbe  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. I haven't tried that but I'm not sure you can connect the Wave to any camera. There might be some kind of adapter but I don't know of one.
      You could look for an XLR adapter that would allow the mic to go straight into the camera unless that mic needs phantom power. My Rode Podmic doesn't.

    Hey, I'm pretty late to this video, but I wanted to say a few things :)
    First off awesome video, love the way you explain stuff, deffo earned a new sub. Second I've had the PodMIC for around year and a half and I can say the Microphone is beautiful and awesome sounding, its only a tad bit quiet, recently I had problems with my audio setup so I had to send back my Elgato Low Profile boom arm that was sliding my VERY HEAVY mic down, and the audio interface Komplete Audio 1 NI had to be returned too, as it was starting to produce a wierd sound on a recording, so I guess my question is would it be worth going for the PSA1 arm or even PSA1+ and would you recommend anything else than the Elgato Wave XLR, cz I don't really like the way it looks and functiones😅. Thanks in advance, much love!

    • @KevinKolbe
      @KevinKolbe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Appreciate the comment.
      I've just recently started using the Elgato Low Profile arm with the Rode Podmic. So far I really like it BUT I did have to crank the knob to the point I thought I'd break it to keep the mic from sliding down. So far it seems to be working. Having said that, I'm still a HUGE fan of the Rode PSA Boom arm. It's the ONLY boom arm I've ever had that stays exactly where I need it to be.
      I do love the simplicity of the Wave XLR but understand that the simplicity can be limiting too. You might want to check out the Mackie M-Caster. I had it for a bit. Neat little audio interface but not what I was looking. Maybe it would work for you: amzn.to/48qI74p
