2023 Lexus ES300h F Sport Handling POV Drive and Impressions!

  • Huge thanks to @LexusUSA for providing this 2023 Lexus ES300h F-Sport Handling for a week in a gorgeous shade of Ultra Sonic Blue Metallic 2.0. But boy do I have some thoughts about this particular model. The ES as a platform, shared with the defunct Avalon, is due for an overhaul, but it remains a solid seller pushing over 40k units a year in the US. But out of the ES250 and ES350, the 300h stands out with 44MPG and smooth FWD Hybrid powertrain.
Though as a luxury sedan first, I will admit a “Handling” package is not necessary… even if I quite like the F-Sport specific styling inside and out; not to mention the gorgeous (optional) triple-beam LED lights. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
[@Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Under the hood of the 2023 ES300h is a smooth 2.5L 4-cylinder paired to a hybrid system to produce a combined 215HP to the front wheels through an eCVT. The advantage? Up to around 44MPG combined. ]
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This package is $2k more than the F-Sport design and simply adds Lexus’s Adaptive Variable suspension. And while the suspicion works as advertised, my week of testing led me to conclude it’s not meant for the ES as in all situations the car felt like it was forced to be stiffer/tighter; something its not meant for. Nonetheless, the ES is comfortable, very efficient, and the New Lexus touch interface is welcome.
But at $54k, my tester lacked a HUD, lacked premium camera, the Mark Levinson audio system, lacks heated rear seats, and lacked a panoramic roof. I love the F-Sport seats, the LFA inspired gauges and even the Circuit Red interior… but if I were buying an ES, I would personally choose the Ultra Luxury, Luxury, or even F-Sport Styling trims just for that softer, more appropriate suspension setup.

Quite possibly my next vehicle. 40-45mpg compared to the 16-18 I get now would be a huge savings in money

I recognize the area your in, which has alot of bumpy roads. I test drove this car in Mt Kisco. Nice ride but debating on this one, a regular ES300 , ES350 or last but not least 2023 Honda accord Touring. Im new to the Lexus brand. this car is not a handling car but it is so smooth of a ride.

Not sure what is the biggest thing you are looking for but I suggest test driving a accord touring 2 liter 10 speed. 2 liter won't be made anymore by Honda so you have to get 22. The 2 liter accord moves.. look at it's 0-60 vs the es 350 0-60 and accord rides and handles very well. I have 25k on my 21 and still rides like it was right off the lot.

And the wireless charging pad also doesn't work - there is no on off switch in the car anywhere- 😢

I love comfort and es SEEMED ok to me except I wanted luxury or UL package. F sport makes things too firm.

Got mine in April ES300h. It's the Ultra Luxury trim, which is what we wanted and is the highest trim for the ES hybrid.
It is the Cloudburst Gray exterior with Acorn color semi-aniline leather interior.

Averaging 43+ MPG City/Hwy driving and I had the oil and filter changed at 1,000 miles for my own peace of mind. Just For Reference: I was not going to wait one-year or 10,000 miles to have the factory installed oil & filter changed. And, I shall be changing the Oil (Liqui Moly 0W-16 Spec V) and Toyota filter every 5,000 miles from now on. Like Scotty Kilmer says, oil & filters are cheap, engines are expensive. LOL 😎

Does it make noise when in park mode and or can we hear the engine charging?

    • @Allcarnews

It really only makes noise in EV mode for safety reasons
