    Napoleon showed his hubris in 1812 that condemned a half million men to die. Even Berthier's pleas were ignored. Power is a helluva drug.

    Everyone says Napoleon should have committed his guard and that would have destroyed the Russian army. Well, we weren't there, and Napoleon was. If sending in the guard was a sure thing, Napoleon would have done it.

      That's an excellent point. I still believe he made the right call. He needed the Guard to get him out of Russia.
