Finally, a level-headed review of this game.
Always a pleasure to hear you ramble
Every time I hear people talk about the game, I find that the reasoning behind downplaying this version seems almost forced. This is not a remaster of the Wii version but of the 3DS version, which already introduced a fair amount of new content that those who only played the original version never got to experience.
I’m a developer, and I’m investigating the kind of work done by FE, and I can say that there has indeed been effort behind it.
This is a remaster of the 3DS version, so features like rumble or local co-op on the same console, which were present in the Wii version, had to be re-implemented because they were absent in the 3DS version. Additionally, the game has been brought to 60fps, like on the Wii, whereas remasters like LM2 didn’t double the framerate, for instance. Moreover, the game switched to a new graphics engine, transitioning to Unity, which brought improved lighting that aimed to replicate the original look on the Wii as closely as possible. However, this caused a challenge: all materials, shaders, and particle effects needed to be redone. This is why there are changes in the water rendering, and some particle effects appear different. Furthermore, all textures now have a higher resolution-they look crisp and are no longer blurry like on the 3DS.
That said, even ignoring the price, this conversion isn’t without flaws. I’ve noticed some minor issues with certain effects (e.g., the trampoline flower has lines that aren’t semi-transparent, and the sun doesn’t appear in some levels). Additionally, the co-op currently has issues inherited from the old 3DS conversion, which should be fixed alongside the framerate issues that are likely tied to memory leak errors and the loading time too.
I Definitely Get That, I Was Just Moreso Commenting As A Player How This Isnt Anything New
When I Said There Wasnt Much Work Done What I Kindve Meant Was There Wasnt Work Done On Anything We Haven't Seen Before
The Rumble Is Actually Something I Genuinely Forgot To Mention Tho, And It Is A Nice Feature
why?
