The COTW seems to throw shade at whitetails. They have very unrealistic racks that are just phoned in and they only max out at level 3. That is the same as small game.
Got my first five star I spotted a huge 4 star mature moose and ultimately decided to let him go when I came back after a while of hunting and a time change and he was a 5 star after a long stalk I dropped him with a heart shot with the 300. When I opened the harvest screen it was a 5 star 97% genetics’ it was a absolute monster.
I got my first 5 star the second day of playing. Just a random herd near the main cabin. I was shaking. 402lb monster for me. I’m looking forward to actually growing my herd with some of the help from your videos.
See that right there is one of the main reasons this game has overshadowed cotw for me it gives you a kind of buck fever, it's actually kinda funny really. This game just feels so much more rewarding honestly you have to have patience and discipline while put in the work to manage the herds and take your time time hunting. Then you start seeing it paying off with bigger and bigger animals truly a awesome game.
@@zackchance4501 Exactly the feeling. Granted when I got my monster buck I hadn’t yet had any time put in managing the white tail herd yet, but it made me see what I can get more frequently and made me want to work to manage it. CotW is great, but the realism in this game is next level.
I hope they make some more realistic giant atypical muleys and whitetail. The drill giant looks amazing. They should model some of the rarer 5 stars after famous record book bucks, like the ones with names.

nice looking white tail, unfortunately I lost my 5 star mule deer lol double lung tons of blood went to track him and all the blood disappeared randomly and never found his body anywhere after searching for close to an hour sucks but back to grinding and maybe find another one
This game is better than cotw imo. It’s closer to hunting, the graphics are better, everything just looks and sounds better. The animals actually act more like animals and they actually put some detail into this game. This game beats cotw easily for me.
Love the animations and models so much more life like then COTW an no outlines make you wait for those perfect clear shots this game is going to be amazing if they add archery stands and stuff like trial cams make more sense with the progression of the deer. Here is to hoping for more non typical racks and archery.

Diamond drill is where the monster lurk I have not 1 not 2 but 3! 5 star adult whitetail bucks in those woods as well as a 5 star mature mulie with good need zones right along that little stream that runs through it. I couldn't be happier with that land pass purchase
This game is great and a much needed breath of fresh air in the hunting genre. I've been playing the hell out of it since I got it and i can't get enough. Once they add new features, weapons, fix bugs and new reserves, it will be even more great. For those of you unhappy with it or overly critical of it with your comparisons to Call of the wild, this game aint for you or your complains.
How? The game was nearly unplayable for me when it launched 3 days ago. The bugs were terrible and the UI was ass. I get games have bugs but if it's not ready, don't release it. This is a half finished project at best. I'll continue to play in hopes that they're actively addressing the bugs but it's far from a finished product.

This game looks pretty amazing thus far, I’m excited to download it and give it a try as I love call of the wild. However I am noticing that 5 star white tail deer you bagged was 177 kg which is equivalent to 390 pounds. The heaviest white tail ever killed only weighed 300. So a bit unrealistic there, devs might need to make some tweaks.
honestly i love this game this is exactly what i want from a hunting game if they just add a few more things and make recoil heavier, better gun sounds, make animal calls sound more realistic, etc this game will be perfect
No it frustrates me that blood despawns at all, blood stays on the ground and bushes irl until it rains. I’ve lost 3 deer in the last 2 hours because of this, and i know they were lung shots. This mechanic of despawning blood needs to go
@@brianfender6811 think its a bug not a mechanic, unless you took too long to look for it, i shot a 5 star mule deer double lung tons of blood tracked it instantly and all the blood despawned and never found him from what devolopers said it was a bug and they were working on it

I have about 7,600 coins and idk what to buy i already have the 7mm and the 300 the 4x15 scope and the diamond drill area so I'm thinking of buying the 308 or a better scope or another part of the map any tips?
Every time I track blood , the blood disappears if I start running or if I get out of hunter sense . And I can’t find the animal, this has to be a bug right . Because if this game is based of realism the blood trail wouldn’t disappear in 30sec

Nice. You described and illustrated why this game has potential as a hunting sim; took time and patience. They need to a 'clock' option: "Real time". Applying sessions and genetic evolution; should take, oh, at least 50 session for you to see any changes made. I mean that buck as to mate (with a genetically non-inferior female); gestation period, etc - we're looking at at least a year IRL, for just one. I've still no idea what the amount is but it feels way to unrealistically short. And yes, make it an option. Tied to Ranger mode (or add a new one "Ranger RIck" mode).
Shot placement should be a big one. Hitting the animal in the rear end wastes a lot of meat even if it went down from that shot (artery hit etc). Using a much larger/faster round than necessary wastes meat (think of what using a deer rifle would do on a rabbit. Obviously lesser extent but the core idea remains). Using multiple shots is obviously more meat wastage as well. In real life I like to make heart shots BUT it puts the bullet too close to shoulder (entry/exit) and often a lot of meat is wasted). The least meat loss seems to be center lung (center rib cage). (I'm not really getting into head-shots ethics etc. :p ) The reason I mention real life is I that it appears this game takes that stuff into account. Meat damage is not just caused by direct damage from the bullet but "hydro-static shock" does major damage and again it appears the game takes this into account (I've seen heart misses in-game that still do small amount of heart damage). In real life I grazed the heart of a buck but the hydro-static shock of the bullet had the heart sooooo damaged, bruised etc it was not usable for human consumption. Yah people eat heart for real. Not weird, grotesque, or ritualistic but 'organ meat' is easily the most nutrient dense part of the animal. Apologies for going off topic, I appear to have too much time on my hands these days. This was actually holding back lol
@@perrys5954 any harvest past 49 is causing it to pull up a error code and deleting data. As well as just exploring the map it's causing the same error code. It's cost me a few missions and some awesome animals .

What rating of animals should I let live like 2 star adults and higher, iv been finding 1 star matures thinking they won't grow anymore and kill them, am I doing the right thing?
It seems 90% genetics rating and higher has very good chance of producing 5 stars. So technically you could shoot anything under 90% so just pay attention to that when you take your bucks down and quickly it will be come apparent what you can/can't take down. Happy hunting! :)

It's unfortunate this game corrupts your save on playstation after 49 kills. It's happened to me twice already..."something went wrong CE-100028-1"...after leveling the perks it sucks, not going to grind it a 3rd time. Hopefully it's fixed soon
I love the antlers and all things associated in this game but I do hope they include three things as far as antlers and the first being non-typicals. The second thing is, as impressive as the large 5 stars ar in-game, something bigger exists. Playing this game is meant to simulate real hunting and I love that element but wouldn't it be fair to inspire something just a little more boundary pushing? Look up real world records, there are just freak deer out there (eg "The Hanson Buck") so having this fictional 500 scoring system limit seems strange and is way too small where non-typicals are concerned. I don't doubt more is yet to come though :) Lastly I'm really not a fan of made up scoring system. Its fine to non-hunters but to those who have experience they want to have something to compare. Its just numbers. So just like the players ability to choose metric or standard measurements, could we not choose what scoring system to use?? Personally I'd choose Boone and Crockett :)

i had a monster young 3 star whitetail and when i was hunting for a large mulie i accidentally shot him his genetics were 96.8

The first 45 minutes of playing I got 2 five star mule deer and the next day I found a 5 star whitetail and today I got a 5 star bighorn
