Same. APM elementals helped me quit drinking and get my wife and kids back. I lost 45 pounds and grew back a full head of hair thanks to APM elementals. ❤
I think the view on Violet is roughly similar to why Trump(hearthstone Trump) has the ideology he has when ranking cards. Where he doesn't give stand-alone rankings on cards. All cards are influenced by their surrounding cards, so it doesn't make sense to make an objective ranking, "This card is good". Djinni is good because Violet is a card, and Violet is good because Djinni is a card. I think if you abstract this game towards a more graph theory PoV, where each card is a node, and directed edges are synergies from one card to the other. Cards are really good when they form closed loops in the graph, and they're bad when there's fewer edges going in/out of it. I'm sure this can be fleshed out more, to make a more complete theory on card rankings. But bottom line, is that standalone rankings don't make sense, fundamentally.
Djinni is just an all around good card in what BGs has become over the years. Battlecry, add minion(s) to hand is generically good because of brann and random elementals at that can spawn more econ like sellemental and refreshing anomaly. Then it has the same on deathrattle so you just get more gold per turn with it as long as it stays on your board and most boards won't cut great econ like that until they find whatever comp they're settling into for the endgame, but djinni is part of some endgame comps so it sticks around permanently.
Is the last evaluation on ascended really fair, though? Because it feels like you're saying "provided that you destroy all the economy cards that support ultraviolet, it will be bad". Which is kind of, at the risk of committing a major exaggeration, saying brann is balanced, you just have to take away the economy battlecries from the game. Do you play genie without ultraviolet? Or rather, does it feel that strong in any other pairing? On another approach, elementals have other scaling over their cycling mechanisms. There's nomi, there's the tier 3 that grows when you sell. I think ultraviolet is strong because it has strong core mechanics. You only need it early, you can commit to it from any point in the game, because it works retroactively in a build that requires no build up. You can cycle your whole board every turn if you want. Need a cleave? Just buy and its ready for usage. Divine shield? Just triple with something. Even in the end of the game, if you manage to buff the shop, you can all of a sudden trade your genies for the ele-demon. On top of that, differently from most of the engines in the game, it buffs itself. Unlike turbohog, tour group, undead champion, brann, drakari, ascended will be your strongest unit, and unlike groundbreaker and spacefarer, it will not require you to forfeit your other units. On the contrary, it makes any unit you buy ready for battle, so you can cycle with a 7 unit board. Dont get me wrong, i do not wish for a nerf in ultraviolet. I wish more stuff in the game was strong in their core. Why is it that nomi makes you have to cycle your whole board every turn to take advantage of his scaling? Also not being elemental, so being so expensive and not being useful with violet. Why is ragnaros to a random unit, so it might just be going for the units you'll be selling. Also, why do I feel like a win when I roll immediately into boar gamer, and i never even look at ragnaros?
Ascendant isn’t op on its own, it’s powerful because you can play cycle elementals without a bran, which is nuts. It’s not an ascendant problem. Ele eco is just very good in this meta, you couldn’t feasibly nerf it without making eles unplayable imo
@bbjoy763 agree. On the other hand, cycle eles, while supposedly strong, does not make any of the other intended payoff cards viable (Nomi, ragnaros, tier 5 that buffs shop, T3 sell ele), so either they are so bad that even a broken kit cannot save them or there's something with ascendant. I just wish there was a shift in power. Perhaps +1/+1 for ascendant, and make Nomi also buff board at tier 5? Or why, when I play sellemental with Ragnaros, I get the same payoff as with party? The difference between Ragnaros and party should be equivalent to the difference between party and rock
I got a win with APM elemental comp today and now I have the confidence to speak to women
