- Puppy biting or nipping can be cute until puppy biting gets intense. Learning How to stop a puppy from biting takes a lot of Consistency, Patience, Time and appropriate praise.
That’s how they acquire the skill of monitoring and adjusting the force of their bite pressure in situations. And this process develops ‘Acquired Bite Inhibition’.
So here are 3 tricks on how to stop those cute little puppy teeth from becoming a bigger problem when your puppy becomes an adult dog. Try out these simple tricks with your puppy and let us not how did it go.

@@9hk38f First, Why would they pay me? Second, Not all dogs are same. I work at a shelter where i see dogs with different level of behaviour issues. Helping people by teaching them to start training your dog from young age won't end those dogs life in a shelter. We help to get young puppies adopt too and such training tricks work best most of the time. That was my genuine feedback to Monkoodog. Either you take it or leave it. None of my concern.

This actually helped, the first time I said ouch to my puppy, he stopped and licked the spot where he bit me. Then he was more alert when I said "Ah ah ah" like you would normally say when your dog is doing something you don't want. Thank you, I can't remember anything because I haven't had puppy interaction in 5-6 years!

My 6 week old puppy is a very playful, though everything I try to play or pet him he always keep on biting my fingers, so I'll try to use this trick!

This works for maybe 90% of puppies and all the seven previous dogs I've raised from 8 weeks old. It doesn't work for my 13 week old monster dog Miniature Schnauzer. He is not fazed by "OUCH" no matter how loud, he just gets more excited. If I turn my back he goes after my pant legs. If I leave he starts biting as soon as I return.
If I redirect he comes back again very soon.
Next time do it with firm voice and strong body language. It will work. Thanks

My dachshund bites me and even if i say ouch.. He wont stop.. then one day, I got annoyed that instead of saying ouch, i nagged but in a soft voice.. I showed to him that I am angry and hurt thru facial expressions.. He went silent, i saw little tears and stopped biting me.. Very sweet to me now..lol..i apologized and gave him treats after. I always make sure to hug and say i love u before i sleep...
I used to redirect my puppy luna’s attention on a kong toy when she used to bite me while playing. and this trick always worked. I sometimes had even used to put treats inside the toy for her to drain out her biting aggression on that toy. It really helped me alot. So for me the third trick worked alot.

Oh my gosh thank you so much for this video! I have a nine week old beagle…I tried redirecting but nothing worked until I made noises as if she hurt me. Now her extreme aggression has turned into soft bites that I am able to redirect since she’s understanding what the word no means.

I did the ouch thing plus I would play bite him but with my lips so when he did try to play bite me it was always very soft and mostly him just being submissively growling

My god. NO. Yelling “ow” doesn’t do anything. When my puppy bites, I snatch her by the collar and hold her against my body until she calms down, and then redirect with her toys. That’s the only thing that seems to work but a lot of times she’ll continue to bite me but I keep correcting her. Also, don’t play too rough or get them all riled up, cause that’s when they act stupid crazy

Well these are sometimes useful for sure... but most effective way I could stop my golden puppy biting my fingers was, whenever it was really biting hard I switched my finger with its paw 😁 so that it could know how hard it was biting after a couple of switch ups the bite got a lot softer and eventually went away
I think I need to try this cos no other suggestion has worked

I’ve been picking mine up by the extra skin around his neck or just squeezing it and saying no. Some people might think it’s cruel but I don’t want a lawsuit.
Im going to try this 😂 lol my 2 month old puppy is super nippy and i can't even pet him or else he goes for my hand. I also can't even have him around my 2 year because he goes and tries to bite my son 🙄

We have a 3 month old golden retriever mix from the shelter. Generally he is doing well, but one problem we are having is him biting our clothes and backs of our legs. If I am holding treats he doesn't always do it. It is difficult to walk around the house! If we say, No, and try to redirect, sometimes he will take the toy but usually he will begin to growl and bark at us, chasing as we walk away. He sits, speaks, lays down, and shakes on command so I know he is trainable. Any advice?
because he thinks doing this is normal and at this age puppies have teething problem but you have to be leader among you 2. So make sure he listens to you and treat him with strong body language and use firm voice when he disobey u.

I got a American Bully pup he’s 10 weeks now and he got like super hyper last night and just went full crazy mode, he started biting everything on site and went immediately to me he bit me right in the hand, so I try to redirect him to a chew toy and it worked for a split second but he went right back to my hand and started growling I try moving it but it just made him more stimulated in the end it left me with a lil scratch on my hand. I’m really starting to think maybe he’s getting aggressive, but Im hoping that maybe I’m overlooking it and he’s just rough housing. Does anyone know if this just him play bitting or is it that he’s trying to attack me because he never usually acts like this during the day and really doesn’t show any signs of aggression he lets me touch his bowl, mess with his ears and paws, but I’m starting to notice that he’s just randomly getting hyper and going full land shark mode
Sounds like you ate experiencing his witching hour? Look it up. I'm not an expert but look up Will Atherton and puppy biting. He's amazing. Also sounds like when your dog acts like that he needs to go get exercised.
When I say "Ow" "ouch!" She keeps barking, her body language is stiff. The more I shout "ouch" or "No!" The more she's hyped up. When Im diverting her attention away from my fingers she goes to other parts of my body. She have a habit ot digging her nails even on the clothes im wearing. I just got her yesterday. There is difference between ouch and no. When your pup is biting you have to say Ouch or fake screeming . But whatever it is, it has to be with firm voice not a polite one. And whenever your pup tries to dig nail on you or jump in you. You have to turn your body opposite to your puppy. And not let the puppy do so. My 8 week old Border Collie bit my nose and his sharp tooth slid a pretty good gash just now. Yeah I actually cried. It sucked ...definitely gonna scar ..

I have two dogs, one is 2 months old and the other almost 14 yo
The problem is that Loki (the youngest) always bite Toby(the oldest) and he cries; but Loki doesn't mind and continues biting :(

My pup is 8 weeks old. He was fine at first but now bites the back of my ankles, wrists and hands. I tried closing his mouth and holding him down for a bit to calm him down but wiggles his way out. He never chewed anything but his toys now is biting the carpet, phone charger cables. When I tell him no or stop that and he keeps doing it more and harder. My husband says no and he runs away or hides in his bed. Lol. Luckily he calmed down and is now sleeping by my foot.
after 2 months puppies just start with their teething thing. So at this moment you have to make sure you start home training too. So in order to raise a good pup, start with basic obedience training now only.

We've had our GS puppy for 2 weeks. He's 18 weeks old and was on a farm only coming in at night. No training! My son is 6"7 and isn't home till late so there is little interaction. When he sees my son he barks, the fur on his back stands straight up and he bites his leg. My son has tried to get on the ground with him and give treats but still no change. What should he do immediately after he bites?

Is it ever too early or too late to train a puppy? My pup is a 2 month old pompoo and we've had her for around 3 weeks now. He's been biting a lot more now and much much harder. Its never too late though. Professional trainers start training their pups at age of 3 months. I have trained one of my dog at age of 3 years also. So just be persistent in training and be a leader. Thanks

My dog is 6 Years old and bited me on both hands. I can not touch my dog but he listens to me when i say no or go. I cnow that i shouldoved teached him but i was a chield.
Now i got a nother dog he is 9 months old & i want to teach him to behave.

Re-directing doesn't work for me. Whenever I try to Re-direct with a toy, he always bite my hands. What should I do?

My puppy is very aggressive for a 8 weeks he bites really hard when we try to be very serious with him and tell him no but it doesn’t seems like he understands, when he bites us and we do a yelp, he continues to bite even harder, we have came to a conclusion that he’s going to need serious puppy training.
