    Ian, you literally saved my day!!! My lock freakishly has a broken spring inside. I didn't know that this morning and I was worried about taking it apart and being unable to put it back together. That is until I found your video! Once i took it apart and learned about the broken spring, i knew i only needed a replacement part.
    I even spoke with the company themselves once I knew what was wrong, and they were unsure I could do it since they have no instructional videos online. I told them, "No worries, this guy Ian has got it on lockdown, so I know just what to do."
    I am a naturally handy chick around the house being the first born to a retired Marine Corp sergeant and stubbornly independent. So thank you for making it possible for me to save the crazy expensive cost of a locksmith, and/or another $60 spent for a new one of these locks, by showing me how to reassemble the lock myself!

      Wow! You made my day. I'm so happy the video helped.
      Your father is retired Marine?! I am former USMC also. 1982 to 1986 active duty. 3/4 and 1/6. Tell your father a fellow US Marine thanks him for his service.
      Thanks for your response. It truly brought me joy.

    Thanks Ian.
    I have a set of very old Segal locks & had all 4 tumblers replaced several years ago.
    Inside & out.
    This morning, I was off to work & the darn thing wouldn't lock from the outside.
    Inside it was good, not outside.
    I took it apart & the darn 'Jesus' spring flew off.
    Saw your video & put it back together, with a light spray of lube.
    Mine was slightly different, it didn't have a tab that went under the spring.
    Pretested it, looked good.
    Installed it & it's working like NEW.
    Thx for the clear video & presentation.
    * a 'Jesus' Clip/Spring is one that goes flying off & you go 'Jesus' where did that go.

    On mine the keyhole cylinder is loose but the lock works great. I don’t see any screws to just get the keyhole or front faceplate off without removing the entire lock from the door. Is there a set screw I can tighten anywhere? Don’t see it in the video

    Does anyone know where you can purchase a spring like that? Home Depot perhaps? Thanks for the video, these locks are simple yet effective and it's always great to have a video showing how to put the tiny parts back in place!

    • @iancampbell1316
      @iancampbell1316  ปีที่แล้ว

      Parts? That's a manufacturers question. I doubt the manufacturer would be interested in offering replacement parts for this lock. Not cost effective. They want you to buy a new lock and, in my opinion, that's good business.
      I'm just a guy that figured out how to repair his lock when he found himself in a jam. Figure it out or pay the man. I figured it out. I was so happy, I had to share it. It makes me happy when I hear it helped people. Should have begged for subs. Lol.
      One last thing. My advice when it comes to replacing parts in a lock is, buy a new lock.

    Thanks for the video. I have a friend who's knob fell off her Segal lock and now she can't enter her garage from inside the house. What do think is the best way to open that lock with no knob and can the knob be reinstalled?

    • @iancampbell1316
      @iancampbell1316  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The knob didn't just fall off. It had to be knocked off with force. Not reparable. Solution. Buy new lock.

    Hi, would this help me my knob is very loose, it does turn to lock and unlock but turns alot with no tension?

    • @iancampbell1316
      @iancampbell1316  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm no pro and am only giving my own opinion based on my personal experience. Based on that, what you described sounds like the kind of structural failure caused by some sort of direct impact to the handle. I don't believe it is repairable. Sorry but, I think you need a new lock.

    • @iancampbell1316
      @iancampbell1316  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The video basically shows you how to take it apart and put it back together. If the problem is part of the mechanism slipping out of place or not tight enough, I'm confident it will work. Good luck.

    What can I do to fix my segal deadbolt lock if my knob inside the door is loose? Anyone have this problem?

    • @iancampbell1316
      @iancampbell1316  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not experience that problem but someone did comment on having a problem with a loose knob on the lock. I believe a loose knob is likely the result of damage such as something banging on the knob or the door opening wide and hitting the wall behind it. I cannot advise on how to fix that. If it is really loose, likely it will fall off sooner or later which will leave you unable to unlock the door. Could be a problem if you need to get through that door in a hurry. I'll look into it a little more to see if I can come up with something but my suggestion right now is, invest in a new lock. Sorry I couldn't help.
