    I don't need the resistor but I have to say your channel is the best damn 40 series channel on the internet, not just YT, the whole damn internet! Keep up the great work!

    great job! Did mine last year, it was making a horrible noise when I turned it on. I can't describe it exactly but there is a felt ring in blower motor that acts as a self lubricating bearing that had disintegrated. Found a replacement that was close at the hardware store and hit it with some light oil. Your technique is sooo much better than mine I always find or break some irreplaceable part. Well done! Luckily my resistor isn't "cactus" yet. hehe

    I thought it was weird that you hadn’t dug into the motor itself. (Knowing how you do things) Then I got to your explanation. I totally understand why you wouldn’t want to do it again just for filming purposes. Haha! It took my daughter and I almost 3 hours to clean the motor and put it back together again. We lost the springs three times and then took four hands to keep the brushes back as we were reassembling. Such a pain! Works good though. I don’t need the resistor because mine is currently working. Leave it for someone who needs it. Great video!

      Nice to hear your kids are helping you out too. Funny thing is I actually pull it apart twice the first time I pulled her apart to see how it all worked but put it back together the second time I pulled it apart for filming, but the footage was lost, along with some of the other footage for this episode I had to go back and refilm a couple of a bit just to fill the gaps.
      Keep up the good work mate!

    Quality work as usual, only a few weeks ago i too replaced the blower resistor. One thing ill say when you reassemble the dash with your knobs, make sure the cable is well oiled and moves freely. i had a heap of trouble because mine was catching slightly and wouldn't even open the door. Also ensure the back of the knobs are crimped well and will not give way once you actually push the knob for the fresh air pull.This also goes for the heater valve cable. I only know this because after installing my factory ac i realised the door wasn't opening and it all had to come back out so i could re-crimp the back of the knob, was a fun day indeed.

    That comment on the springs gave me a chuckle - took me forever to find one of them when they unleashed themselves on the outside world! I used some clear coat over the motor cap rather than repainting it - worked a treat and I think it looks pretty good too.

    Great job you have done there. I just finished mine. While following the video/instructions an idea popped: instead of painting black, can i just clean it really good and clear coat it? Used fine sand paper to clean, degreased it and hit it with cc. Guess what. Came out great!! Original color as well!!

    I need the resistor because mine has carked it! I’ve jut finished school last year and I bought an absolute wreck of a 1983 HJ47, and being as young as I am my budget is very slim and I’m restoring my car back to original. I’ve spent the last 2 weeks completely re wiring the whole wiring harness (keeping all wire colours original) and the only thing that is missing is the fan resistor. I would really appreciate the help!

    FYI, Brillo makes a perfect foam cloth to us for the door insulation. We found a pack of 6 at Lowe's. They are 4.75 mm/0.187 in thick. So you an just trim to the door size and go.

      If the resister is broken the fan will still work but only on the high speed, if you have no heater fan than there are other problems.

      @47Rolling 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      JP Onefourseven 100% right mate. The resistor is just one part of it. I still need to rebuild the whole heater box as well install a heater tap and run hoses which were taken out by the last owner. I dropped a new 2h in it a few years back so it runs pretty good but haven’t gotten to the comfort stuff yet.
