I've built many PC's, as I work in tech, and I always go for 4K 60fps for single player games if I can help it. I love it. Also can very much see the difference on my 28 inch monitor at a normal viewing distance, but I have very good vision

9:13 - The ray tracing settings only apply to shadows in the game. Upping the ray tracing quality reduces noise and pushes the effect out a further distance from the camera. Edit: I think it affects global illumination too actually, but that one's harder to appreciate.
7:30 the difference in graphics settings you see immediately when you're used to higher ones is the pop-in near the camera and lower density in vegetation in general, everything else looks just fine as long as you don't go below native display resolution. At least that is a feature of the engine, it never looks atrocious

Depends on screen size. The actually important thing is pixel density (i.e. size divided by number of pixels). With a small screen (say 24 inch) you can probably get away with 1080p.

@Mitchriz can you tell about the different route split before the 16min and why did the Enir Ilim climb saved 2 minutes? Didn't seem to be anything different.
Before 16 minutes, we used to go to the Gatefront grace to get Torrent from Melina, but now we get 3 total graces in Limgrave so she will show up at the third grace we get, Seaside Ruins. This causes it to be a bit better to do the pathing in a different order, so the splits don't match up. In my previous PB, I died in Enir Ilim. This time I didn't die, so I saved 2 minutes.
you can easily have both 60fps and 1440 or 4k with elden ring. it's too beautiful a game not too.... just give 1440 a try sometime. you'll be glad you did.
Bruh 1080p vs 4k is not a fair comparison to 30fps vs 60fps. Anything lower than 60fps is atrocious. Theres plenty of great options between 4k and 1080p. The same cannot be said about 60 and 30 fps.
Hey Mitch, nbd if not, but I am colorblind and can’t tell the difference between the + or - on the time split, depending on if you’re ahead or behind. Would be greatly appreciated if you could use something other than red/green. Thanks!
Thank you for the comment, it is something that it would be great to fix if I could, but... Unfortunately, I don't know that there is a good solution. The problem is, if I used a color other than green and red, it might be easier to distinguish that the colors are different, but now everyone would have some difficulties figuring it out. For example, I've seen other runners use colors other than red or green, and then even I have to manually check the symbol for whether it's plus or minus to see if they are ahead or behind. I've seen players use yellow for non-gold splits, and I just never know if that's good or bad. Blue seems like a good replacement for green, but it can be a lot harder to see in some situations. Unfortunately, it seems to me that either colorblind people will have some trouble distinguishing red/green but everyone else can easily tell at a glance, or everyone will have to manually check the +/- at least for the first few times they are watching, before eventually maybe settling in and figuring out which one is which. Given that a lot of viewers are first timers, it seems tough to force them to learn my colors that are different from almost every other runner. So I'm really sorry, but I think it will have to stay. If you're looking for a solution that can help you personally see the difference, you could compare how the split time changes when a split happens. If the number goes down when I finish a split, that means I'm ahead (in the green), and if the number goes up then I'm behind (in the red). That way at least, you could skip to before and after a split happens, and quickly tell what happened. I hope that helps a bit.
Using the screens at the size you are using for gaming the difference in 1080p and 4K is not really noticeable. I'd never use anything over 1440p especially at a 26in screen, I only really feel the benefit of 4K resolution on my 65in TV I watch movies on in my living room.
Most consumers (see: sub 110IQ midwits and worse) have no idea what pixel density is or how it works. They also have no idea what diminishing returns are. They just see bigger resolution number and higher price tag and go "derp, must be better! ur poor if u disagree!"
It isn't auto proc for the crit, hippos hitbox to execute the crit after the stagger is just like half his body. Many creature warp you to proper crit location when critting so it's seen as intended, wonky but intended

If this speedrun is 58:05, why does the final boss die at 1:07:15? This practice of turning off the timer during loading screens is stupid. It's like running a marathon but only counting the time you spend running, so you do it in 100m sprints and rest for a few minutes after each one.
