I really want to start experimenting with PPC campaigns. I think it will really improve how I look for wholesale offers. Can't wait to see how this works.
For clarification, these ads only work if you're already getting the buy box? The ad isn't running for you already and when the customer clicks on it, the customer is taken to the listing and AMZ puts you in the buy box? That's something I heard somewhere else.
Thanks Jimmy, as usual, great info. Can you explain how to set up SKUs by date please? And how it ties into how it is pulled into the ad campaign. Thanks
If you use InventoryLab you can have it automatically create your MSKUs for you by pulling in the date, supplier, and cost information. We then use that to add our SKUs to a monthly Ad Group because we just add all the SKUs from that prior month.
omg- finally someone is explaining what I’ve been looking for! I’ve done one previous campaign and it went very well- but that was for a private label item. I have a retail product that does not have much traffic but the product sells very well on generic listings. This is not a generic product so those listings risk getting removed. Issue: the parent listing sells for much lower and I’d like to create a PPC campagin to link it to my product at my selling price. But this listing does has a supressed buy-box (no buy box). is it still possible to run a PPC campaign on a supressed buy-box listing?
Thanks Jimmy! I have been wanting to learn more about this strategy. I appreciate your expertise. When you list a sku to your inventory you put month/year for every item?
Jimmy, it is truly a blessing to have seen your video today on 5 cent ads! I've been doing it wrong for over a year and have made a BIG MESS. I had $20 daily limit (Amazon says: "Daily Recommended $110"). Setting was at "up and down". Clicks were 0.07. One big unmanageable ad group of 4720 SKUS. ACOS is currently 27%, Sales $2,200, Spend is $600, Manage inventory says I have 700 products so most of the 4720 SKUs are not active. I am NOT tech savvy. Do I slide my current campaign button to inactive and start fresh or try to adjust / fix my existing campaign? In very easy to understand steps can you tell me how to transfer my 4720 SKUS into groups of 500? I'm grateful for your help. Many thanks
Hey Jan - glad I put out the video! Sorry you've had a problem with the original campaign you set up. I would definitely turn off your current campaign and start over fresh - it's probably easier to start over than to try to fix the other one. When setting up the new campaign, in the Ad Group settings you can enter a list of ASINs/SKUs, so I would download all your SKUs from Seller Central (or InventoryLab if you're using that), then copy 500 rows at a time until you have completed setting up all the separate Ad Groups within that new campaign. I hope that helps I know it's not as easy to understand in a couple sentences vs a full video but those are the steps I would take!
@@AskJimmySmith" Jimmy, I do have Inventory Lab. I go to Inventory tab in Inventory Lab and click on FBA ( I only do FBA). Now what? Do I copy FNSKUs or MSKUs? How do I DOWNLOAD a SKU? How do I download 500 SKUs? I know how to copy/paste . In Seller Central Advertising Under New Campagin page I see PRODUCTS heading. Under this heading are three subheadings: SEARCH , ENTER LIST, and UPLOAD. Where do I go from there? I understand that with 700 active ASINs I will have two ad groups : one group of 500 SKUs and one group of 200 SKUs. Going forward I would create a new campagin group each month titled 6/22, then next month 7/22, etc. Correct? I appreciate your guidance.
@@janwishau Ok, in IL you go to FBA Inventory and at the top right you can click to export your FBA Inventory, then you will take 500 of those at a time and use the "Enter List" feature of the Ad Group. I personally would put all ASINs in there in case you were to ever replenish some of your old ones as well, so do the 4720 SKUs so that you have them all in there. And yes that is correct for each month after. Hopefully that helps!
Jimmy is it possible to get an ASIN impression report from your ads? I would like to see which of my ASINS are getting impressions. That way if not and they are not selling I can get them out of my inventory.
I'm pretty sure you can see keyword reports and ASIN reports, but I'm unsure how since I've never looked into them. I'm sorry I don't know off the top of my head!
It's going to cost you way more. I recommend a 5 cent big to keep the costs low, but you can always test it at a higher bid and see how the ads perform
Jimmy thanks for the vid. Will this work with variation listings like shoes or clothes? I ask because I'm wondering if they would have to search the exact sizes I have for sale, thanks
It should. There's no harm in running this on those listings because if you don't have the buy box then the ads won't run. So it would work the same if they are searching for the exact sizes you have for sale
Amazon does not give us this statistic. However, with the low ACOS and ROAS it's worth it for us to get the extra exposure potential and it's always good for Amazon to see an account running ads on their platform even if they are small
Just tried this using your settings. I was only playing around with this as a test but I wasn't getting anything so I changed the dynamic bid to up and down and tried the $31 daily budget thing to see what would happen. Within 40 minutes the total spend was at $13.57 and I only converted 2 sales, so I shut the ads down. The cost per click was only 8 cents so it wasn't anything too crazy. I'm really unhappy with how this test turned out. I recently made a really bad huge purchase and was looking at using something like this as the only way to save me. Is there anything I might've did wrong?
Tried again today and it's going a lot better! I set it to only 3 cents per bid but left the budget at $31. Already have more sales than yesterday with 10x less cost. I appreciate your help!
Hey! This is why I recommend a daily budget of $10. Also you’ll want it to run a couple weeks to see if it works for your products. It takes a while for the system to learn what’s working vs what isn’t. It’s totally up to you thought if you want to run $140 of ads over 2 weeks to see how it returns
Also bad purchases are rarely fixed through ads. Then you’re spending money on products that won’t sell still. Your best bet may be to recall them and sell on eBay or just lower your prices to get some money back

Going to give this a try today Jimmy
Awesome! Good luck!

Correct, they only work and only run when you are in the buy box
And in the video you say add your SKU's, is that my SKU's from my ASIN's or the SKU's of like minded products I want to add too?
Thanks Jimmy, as usual, great info.

You can run a campaign but it won't work unless the Buy Box is showing. Ads only run when there is a Buy Box

Yes we do, only for new listings though. It helps us to make sure we put it in the ASIN Ads Campaigns

No changes here!

Jimmy, does this strategy apply to FBA too? I only have 1 FBA product currently selling
Absolutely!
Of the roughly 210,000 in sales, how much of that was an increase over what you were selling without the ads?

Do you turn off the previous months campaign, then turn on the new month? Or you leave them all on?
We leave them all on :-)
Waity is this for a single ASIN? Or is it all your ASIN's in one campaign? I am a Brand not a reseller so I only have 6 ASIN
All ASINs in one campaign
don't this skew up your buy cost?
Not necessarily. It gets taken out of your profit at the end of the month but it's still a cheap strategy all things considered
