Did DUKE Do RASHEED SULAIMON Wrong? Stunted Growth

  • TODAY'S FEATURE:
    Rasheed Sulaimon. Was he done wrong by the program that promised to nurture and protect his youth? Or was he unable to learn the lessons life was trying to teach him? Either way, his situation at DUKE has followed him into his professional life. Was sexual assault charges enough to black ball him, or was he simply not good enough?

    I coached this kid when he was nine years old, we would play one on one after practice and he told me the that he wanted to attend Duke and become a doctor. This was his dream school, so it was gonna be almost impossible to convince him to sign somewhere else. Coach K f_cked over another high level Houston kid, Daniel Ewing as well.
    On another note, Rasheed was not a fifth year senior, he graduated from Duke in three years and was eligible to play at Maryland right away.

      Daniel Ewing.. now that's a name I haven't heard in awhile.

    • @DukeBlueDevilFan08
      @DukeBlueDevilFan08 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ewing didn’t pan out that well overall at Duke because I respectfully believe he reached his potential in 2003. K had a 6’3” Ewing playing the 3 but in the ACC it doesn’t work out that way especially when going against Florida State, VA tech, Maryland’s of the world. ACC usually is a bigger player as far as frame type of conference. 2) when Dockery went down with injury in 2005, Ewing was forced to play point. Ewing didn’t have the best handles but was able to be an on court coach when needed. He’s best when people set him up vs setting up others offense for them. Looking back on it, K has stunted a bunch of players development (and I’m a Duke fan so I’m qualified to say such). His ceiling wasn’t high but K and staff could’ve helped improve on his handle and defense and strength. Dockery’s confidence was shot during his tenure at Duke and he was a walking bucket in high school

    • @sethcollins748
      @sethcollins748 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ewing acc tourney mvp had a great career at Duke wtf u mean fucked him over gtfoh. Sheed got in trouble for sexual bullshit that was false but at the time dukes lacrosse team had just fucked a bunch of strippers. Duke couldn't have any sex allegations. If Duke fucked sheed what did Maryland do to him? And Duke damn sure ain't fuck ewing. Ewing played big minutes every year he was there. Both were given the opportunity. Ewing one of my favorite all time players I can't say nothing bad about. Sheed was a bad shot taker. He would make some, but would go cold and shoot Duke right out of games. K loves Ewing, Ewing loves k. Same with sheed.

    We played Rasheed Sulaimon in high school my senior year. Our best player went toe-to-toe against him. It was one of the best one-on-one duels I’ve ever seen. We wound up losing in triple overtime. But our guy had 26 while Rasheed finished with 32. I always thought that Rasheed had potential to be a great at Duke and in the NBA, which would’ve made the high school battle story even legendary. But knowing what I know now, it kind of dampens the mood.

So....how about doing a switch- up every now & then,& comprise a few videos of players who DEFIED the odds,& made it to the league. Maybe title it.."unexpected growth". Like...a Ben Wallace, Miami's Duncan Robinson. Obviously, most guys in the nba were expected to at least have a better than 50% chance at making ut, but how about those who weren't on anyone's mock drafts? Just an idea. Keep up the good work!! 👌

    No sexual assault charges were filed against Rasheed, so there's no proof he ever had sex with any alleged victim/s. Dont make baseless assumptions regarding serious accusations against that young man. If Duke's basketball program was so pristine and the faculty and coaches valued it's image, why wasn't coach K's grandson released from the team after being charged and later convicted of a DWI? Not only was he allowed to remain on the team, coach K allowed the scrub to play after that incident. During the mid nineties, Ricky Price got into trouble for plagiarizing a term paper. Price was more of a NBA talent than Rasheed, yet coach K made sure he didn't play much during his remaining time at Duke. J.J Redick was Busted for a DWI or DUI during his time at Duke, yet he was allowed the opportunity to become Duke's all time leading scorer. Is anybody else recognizing a pattern of double standards for Duke basketball and coach K? Universal Justice may have been administered against coach K for his unjust handling of players. That may be the reason he entered retirement like a scolded dog with his tail between his legs after UNC humiliated him repeatedly. I won't even mention how good ol' Mike ( coach K ) made sure Tommy Amaker wasn't hired as his successor. He made sure assistant coach Jon Scheyer who had no head coaching experience filled that position. There's an old adage that goes, when the Devil tells you who he is, believe him.
