I'm sad that the Xbox 360 Marketplace is closing, the Xbox 360 was my console growing up, it's really the end of the golden era of gaming 😢. Xbox President Sarah Bond said that she's setting up a new team dedicated to game preservation, hopefully she finds a way to not shut down the Xbox 360 Marketplace. An example of game prices going up because of delisting was when Spec Ops the Line for Xbox 360 was delisted, prices shot up! I'm glad I bought my copy last july for $18.07 before it got delisted from digital stores. This is why I buy all my games Physical and I only buy Digital if physical isn't available. If buying is not owning then piracy is not stealing.
Completely agree with you about software and digital preservation. However I do recognise that companies cannot provide support for their products forever. Could you imagine Nintendo still providing tech support for Famicom consoles?! What the companies should do upon retiring a product line IMO, is to make their obsoleted intellectual property public domain or released under creative commons license or similar.
Sad truth that if we don’t buy a lot of these games the digital copy of the games will be gone forever and most media like all the pfps and stuff like that and character accessories are about to be all lost media
I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to play that space marine game before I learned it was just straight not backwards compatible. That was kinda sad
Dude, 100% agree! 👍 It's time for someone to set up an online game museum, where you can download a game you want for a small fee. I have no idea what the license situation looks like, but someone could come up with something clever.
My major concern is that sometimes i need to be online to authenticate that I own an xbox live arcade game. If i dont do that, it's permanently stuck on the trial version.
It's sad that a lot of great games on the 360 will be gone once the store gets shut down. I'm trying to get ahead of it by buying a few 360s just to mod. Looking for those limited edition consoles. After the store gets shutdown will 360s go up in price?
I'd expect the consoles themselves to remain pretty cheap. It seems most people don't know that the big RROD problem was fixed with the late model 360 fats and are afraid they could die at any moment.
I honestly wish that war for cybertron, fall of cybertron, tf dark of the moon, tf revenge of the fallen, birds of steel, il-2 birds of prey, and spiderman web of shadows, were made backwards compatible on xbox one
Those games are 360 Backwards compatible on the Xbox One/ Series. After the 360 store closes, you should still be able to purchase them there and then have the games show up on your 360's Download list. The real emergency are the many 360 games and dlc that were never brought over to the Xbox One/ Series and will disappear with the 360 store's closure at the end of June.
I read that you can still play original Xbox and Xbox 360 games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S as they plan to continue to support them on both. I know you mentioned it, but I just thought I'd bring it up. But yeah, I'm just as disappointed by it as you are, but at least I can still play RDR1, GTA 4, Saints Row 1 and 2, and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005) since I already owned them on my Xbox Series X.
Backwards compatibility only going back so far, Old school Audio/video cable ports no longer being available so you can't even play games on their old systems. All on top of the switch to digital where when the company decides to take it down, it's gone forever. Game preservation is taking a nasty down turn, as a gamer, pretty upset by it.
If i cannot play my older games, i will have to emulate. The modern game industry is just garbage and not worth my time. Id rather play warband or bards tale.
I started buying all the physical games that I want already . My store has not caught on to prices so even the USA stuff is still cheap now so gonna start buying doubles and triples just in case my shjt gets scratched or want more cookies of my faves
Quick question if we are playing cod on 360 am I able to still buy the game off the Xbox digitally and the DLC or no because Tbh I would rather have play on 360 playing cod then on the Xbox one, I don’t think it’s fair that some people are console bias between the 360 xb1 and series X, if not, I still wish that they could still sell everything cod related or anything else that’s still running on 360 servers on 360
Yes, you can still buy digital games & DLC for your 360 on the built in 360 store. Best be quick though, it closes late June. Classic 360 cod games and dlc is probably better to purchase on an Xbox One/ Series though because it still goes on sale there periodically. When using the same profile, it should show up on your 360's download list.
This was why I didn’t buy into the mass hysteria surrounding collecting its game library these past several months. Even PS2 has more of a fighting chance with its selection of JRPGs, since that’s mostly the reason you’d of bought it over the original XBOX at the time
But it lives on in my mind. I'll be using the Hyperkin Xbox 360 controller as a nostalgic reminder. I have a significant collection of games physically and digitally. It was one of the best generations ever in terms of the games and the significance of HD and playing multiplayer. But it raises a bigger issue of game preservation and we should be doing more to protect these games. If I won big on the lottery I would spend some of it to help bring emulation to consoles. It's something I really care about.
Even though I've never owned an Xbox, having always been a PC and PlayStation person, this is still sad news to me, especially for game preservation. That said, I really hope the PS3 store doesn't get shut down too, because I still use that. Fortunately, there's always physical.
I've been with the xbox 1 for going on ten years now since about 2015 ish, I can't be bothered to buy the new ones, bc the new games sucks nowadays. But with thing with xbox 360 shutting down, will be still be able to play elder scrolls 4 oblivion bc that game is only xbox 360.?
I own only physical disc copies of my games. I prefer offline play vs online and the games can be obtained readily. Also I rock Splinter Cell on my PS2.
@@555Gamingandproductions Games should still work offline. I'm not sure about the DVD function though. A lot of people nowadays stream videos online. DVDs are now considered ancient tech. That's why a lot of games, patches, and DLC are digital.
I really hope that backward compatibility plan Microsoft announced includes archiving all these games that will go away when this closure happens. Maybe one day they’ll try and get around the licensing issues and relist them on an Xbox or the PC storefronts if they at least catalogue them. Let’s just hope going forward consoles will be permanently fully backward compatible and an effort from all gaming corporations to make sure this kind of thing is a thing of the past. This shouldn’t be a thing where only the fans make an effort. Enough is enough.
Completely agree. The licensed games are unfortunately some of the biggest casualties over the years, too. And some of them get ridiculously expensive over time.
The black ops 3 is still for sale for 50$ on the 360. The problem is the freaking mutiplayer is broken and can't be played. Everytime you unlock a specialist perk it freezes. Fix this now Microsoft. I wasted my money purchasing.!
Can we please stop this trend of overly dramatic TH-cam titles? lol only the store will be closing soon, so you better buy all the DLC or games before it's too late. Everything else regarding downloading owned games, updates and the few multiplayer services that are up, will stay the same.
this is why im against new windows stuff and newer consoles. ps5 has a diskless version, it will be useless once it goes obsolete. Windows 10 can use online accounts, and uses the store for most apps. When those shut down too, your pc is useless. Older computers can still be used, like xp and 98. 10 and 11 will be harder
Xbox 360 is my favorite console of all time. It just had a vibe and energy to it that is so unique and unmatched. PS2 is the only console that comes to close to that same magic and aura that the 360 had. I have a Series X but it’s not the same, I still have my 360 hooked up and even though the store is closing, I’ll forever cherish the memories.
They will never support backwards compatibility because those games were better than the games today so if could still play them we wouldnt be buying newer games and these greedy companies wouldnt make nearly the same their making now
I actually do think that's part of the reason why a lot of games never are preserved, but what's odd is that PC gaming proves that you can do both. There's so many PC gamers that play retro games on there, but they also buy new games when they are good. I think the problem is companies don't want to be forced to make good games. Because if you can't access the old ones, like you said, all of a sudden mediocre games look a lot better because it's all you can play.
Well just like the PS2 before it the 360s time has come. It had to happen eventually but I'll always remember the good times I had with it. COD Black Ops, The Force Unleashed, Mass Effect 1-3, Kotor 1 and 2, Skyrim, The Witcher 2, and so many more 😊.

@@linkuriboh471 and apparently Actavision lost the code for War for Cybertron. Least that’s what I remember reading.
@@jangofett1172 Physical Xbox 360 copies are going to skyrocket. They'll give the old school Pokemon games a run for their money. I'm still in school which is why I haven't gotten the Xbox 360 yet
@@linkuriboh471 yeah it’s a shame that both 360 and PS3 are next to on the list of prices that will sky rocket. The prices for Pokemon games now these days are ridiculous.
Glad I still got my Spider-Man Web of Shadows disc.
That game is amazing and it’s so damn sad it will never be backwards compatible
Same, still have my copy from many years ago.
Oh boy can’t wait till they shut down the next thing after people say we shouldn’t worry about that either.
Yeah, it's clear this stuff is all ephemeral now. It didn't have to be this way..
Sad truth that if we don’t buy a lot of these games the digital copy of the games will be gone forever and most media like all the pfps and stuff like that and character accessories are about to be all lost media
Thank you modding scene and all those nerds ive donated to all you since i was a kid.
Hey jay everything good man?
I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to play that space marine game before I learned it was just straight not backwards compatible. That was kinda sad
Dude, 100% agree! 👍
It's time for someone to set up an online game museum, where you can download a game you want for a small fee.
I have no idea what the license situation looks like, but someone could come up with something clever.
I’m starting to do this right as we speak, currently getting the 3 DLC’s for bo2 since we never got those zombie maps on anywhere else.
My major concern is that sometimes i need to be online to authenticate that I own an xbox live arcade game. If i dont do that, it's permanently stuck on the trial version.
Hope your doing good today Jay. Best wishes comrade.
Really appreciate you, thank you! I did not see this at the time, sorry! Trying to do my best. Just kind of had a lot of issues lately I guess.
11:00 It all started „decades“ ago with unobtainable achievements because of shutting down servers e.g.
The final red ring
I would like to see the FTC do something about this.
Wait so if i buy dlc woll that still be available? What about digital games? Can i still play all of that when all servers are shut down?
So for instance I really want to play the saints row 1&2 dlc, with this going on does that mean I won’t be able to purchase the expansions anymore?
Yes, you won’t be able to purchase anything from the Xbox 360 store, everything is going down: full games, demos, DLC, avatars, themes
Get it while you can
Those games are 360 Backwards compatible on the Xbox One/ Series. After the 360 store closes, you should still be able to purchase them there and then have the games show up on your 360's Download list.
The real emergency are the many 360 games and dlc that were never brought over to the Xbox One/ Series and will disappear with the 360 store's closure at the end of June.
Servers are shutting down
Modders: Let us Introduce ourselves!
Everything i touch on the Xbox 360 was a gem already and it bares so much enthusiasm
It's still respect for Microsoft to support a marketplace for 19 years old console.
after shutting down x360 marketplace will you still be able to earn achievements on Xbox 360?
This is what happened to all the PS2 online games and all the old Metal Gear Online modes on PS3 and younger
it's really depressing because theres over 2100 xbox 360 games and roughly 700 are backwards compatible?
Also if anyone has the dishwasher vampire smile and Charlie murder please add me man that game is so much fun😭😭
This was why I didn’t buy into the mass hysteria surrounding collecting its game library these past several months. Even PS2 has more of a fighting chance with its selection of JRPGs, since that’s mostly the reason you’d of bought it over the original XBOX at the time
At least the system link is still available with a ton of 360 games. All you need is some consoles and a cheap switch.
One of the 360's best features! :D
I'm debating whether to buy a bunch of stuff off the PS3 store at the moment
Go for the xbox 360 stuff first than the ps3.
The 360 is the greatest console ever
I never grew up with the 360. I got one in december and have been having tons of fun! Am gonna buy a final shirt on my account and salute at midnight
I've just finished to play dead or alive 4 on the original hardware, online with great players. It was so cool. I love this console
I own only physical disc copies of my games. I prefer offline play vs online and the games can be obtained readily. Also I rock Splinter Cell on my PS2.
I need a full list of what to buy
Planned obsolescence by companies. How do they sell remakes and remasters otherwise?
Dude this really bums me out...
But Heres ONE Question
Will The Xbox 360 Continue To Work As Something To Play Single Player Games And/Or Use DVDS For Let's Say...20 More Years?
Also throw in the fact that you can't set the date past 2025. What's gonna happen to the consoles then?
They'll eventually shut down the online multiplayer for Xbox 360 games. Armored Core Verdict Day on the Xbox 360 got shut down earlier this year.
But Here Is A Question, Will The Xbox 360 Still Function?
@@555Gamingandproductions It should still work offline and you should be able to redownload any games purchased before the shut down
@@linkuriboh471 I'm Not Talking About The Market, I Ment In General. As Both A Console(Like The Nes-Wii) And A DVD Player
@@555Gamingandproductions Games should still work offline. I'm not sure about the DVD function though. A lot of people nowadays stream videos online. DVDs are now considered ancient tech. That's why a lot of games, patches, and DLC are digital.
@@linkuriboh471 the xbox 360 DOES Play dvds. if that function DOES shut down...good thing i have a dvd player!
For me the Xbox 360 and PS2 are still the gold standard for consoles in terms of pure enjoyment.
I think what you’re saying is correct most people like to have that opinion and I respect that
That's why I RGH my 360 with everything, even the indie store
Not in my heart it won’t. 2024 is cold and sterile. No console today can compete with the older consoles.
My 360 gave up earlier this year. Now I can’t play guitar hero 2 and 3 anymore.
Get another working one, as long as the internal hardrive works it can be easily transferred.
Not in my house....
Love me some physical discs! I never bought into the digital lie 😂
The black ops 3 is still for sale for 50$ on the 360. The problem is the freaking mutiplayer is broken and can't be played. Everytime you unlock a specialist perk it freezes. Fix this now Microsoft. I wasted my money purchasing.!
they wont fix like a 20 year old console game bug
Keeping decade+ old games at 60usd is why it failed
Is the original and the one that started at all is going gone 🎮
Can we please stop this trend of overly dramatic TH-cam titles? lol only the store will be closing soon, so you better buy all the DLC or games before it's too late. Everything else regarding downloading owned games, updates and the few multiplayer services that are up, will stay the same.
You do realize not every game is backwards compatible, right?
@@NostalgiaNet8 Sounds like a Series S/X problem.
@@NostalgiaNet8you know 360’s and 360 games are cheap and easy to find, right?

@@Supersonic90444 Source? From what I've seen Game Pass Core will still work on 360
Get the Xbox 360 E Slim edition if you can find one. All you have to do is hook everything, no internet required. Have fun playing og Xbox titles
I have Xbox 360 E version. I can also play without internet campagins of Cod's for exemple
@@Wooltrack726 that's awesome honestly.
this is why im against new windows stuff and newer consoles. ps5 has a diskless version, it will be useless once it goes obsolete.
What a time to be alive 😢
@@galaxygamer247 yeah but we can always revisit those games again if we want.
