Let me share you a story guys. You see, my late father was diagnosed with renal failure and was undergoing dialysis. Back in his heavy drinking days, when he was drunk, he'd sing this song out and belt out the words roughly but with a lot of emotion and power. After his song, he'd turn to me and tell me the story of his past girlfriend and how they separated because she went to United States. I always hated it whenever he'd turn to me and tell me that story after his song time and time again. During his last two weeks, he was singing Carrie in front of the computer and ushered me to sing along with him. I didn't know that my first karaoke session with my dad was the last. My dad was never the type to open up but when death was fast approaching, I'm glad to say that I became his friend and was able to open up a lot before he died. Dad, it's been two years now since I last talked to you. It's your birthday in the next two days. I wish you would sing this song with me again. Talk to me about Madelle again. I'll listen to you just like I always do. Thank you Dad. See you again.

One year ago today I married my wife Carrie. Before I went into the chapel, sitting in the parking lot with my best man, this song came on the radio. It was obviously meant to be.
this was played at my best friend's funeral (her name was also Carrie). every time I hear it I feel as though someone kicked me in the chest, she was murdered by her psychopath ex boyfriend. it's been 13 years & I still can't believe she's gone.... love & miss you pinky.. RIP 😢😭😓😪💔💔💔💔
I am so sorry for your loss. I'm dealing with a boyfriend who is addicted to drugs and when he's clean he's awesome but when he's on drugs he's very scary. Your comment made me think.
It's officially been one year since my aunt Kerri lost her battle with breast cancer, and every time I hear this song I think back to when she only had a few more weeks left, and she would tell us not to cry because it would always make her cry as well. I miss you aunt Kerri❤
this was when being a rocker was much more than using a guitar and relying on musical instruments to do all the work. This is pure artistry, there's just enough of everything from vocals to the instruments that follow perfectly in the background without overpowering the singer's voice. I wish we'd go back to real rock like this, with words that meant something.
What is wrong with relying on musical instruments to do all the work? Classical music is mostly only instruments and it works perfectly fine.. some songs are written one way some song the other.. you can’t have every song have somebody sing all the way.. you need some change thru the song and if that means having let’s say a guitar solo that lasts over a minute then why not? ...song that repeat their verses all the time are those songs that are completely pointless and get boring after a while. Songs that have lyrics written like it’s a story combined with the instrumental artistry is pure magic.. the best example is Bohemian Rhapsody.
@@i-deni-i5138 I think what wizarro meant was not so much in the over-reliance of the musical instruments but how today's rock singers don't seem vocally up to par with those in the past. Rock isn't just loud guitars and banging drums with the singer just shouting angrily or growling through the songs. Think Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Rob Halford, et al.. They really can sing. I emphasize *sing*. They have the vocal range but I think especially, for lack of a better word, they bring 'soul' to what they sing. Maybe it's me but I don't hear that with today's rock music.
Why in the world did they stop making this music, that's what i wonder every time i listen to a song like this, this is way better than 80% of music they make today

For you to cry. We've been through this before
In every time, in every season,
God knows I've tried
So please don't ask for more.
Can't you see it in my eyes
This might be our last goodbye
Carrie, Carrie, things they change my friend
Carrie, Carrie, maybe we'll meet again
I read your mind, with no intentions
Of being unkind, I wish I could explain
It all takes time, a whole lot of patience
If it's a crime, how come I feel no pain.
