My former department (LA Sheriff-retired) has had Beretta 92’s break, Hk USP .45’s go KA-BOOM, Glocks break, M&P’s go “KA BOOM” etc…. There’s so many variables that can cause permanent destruction on firearms and it’s not isolated to just any one brand of gun maker. “If man makes it, man will find a way to break it.”

So far I've broken: Ruger LC9s Pro 3 times & was no longer fixable so Ruger gave me a gun of my choosing: a SR9C (Great gun & has yet to fail), Ruger LCP2 once (stopped carrying as it is too unreliable), Kimber Micro 9 once (kicks worse than my Glock 20 & I'm not kidding), Sig P365 3 times (3rd time a new barrel, slide, & extractor & is the one I pocket carry), Sig P365XL 3 times (twice for dead triggers but is my 2nd best 9 mm shooting pistol), 1st Gen CZ P10C within 1,000 rds. had 3 firing pin breakages, so CZ sent me a sweet sweet 2nd Gen P10C with none of the 1st Gen problems (my best shooting 9mm), S&W PC Shield Plus 4" ported barrel twice (tied for 2nd best shooting pistol), and a Springfield Ronin Elite 1911 in 10 mm once to fix a rough breech face that should have never left the factory (my most accurate pistol of all my pistols, after having a gunsmith adjust the trigger pull from 6-1/2 pounds to 4-1/4 pounds). 1911 triggers are awesome! The list of what hasn't broke is a far shorter list, which does include a Glock 20 but it turned out to be my most expensive pistol after changing out the factory unsupported barrel, trigger connector & Johnny Glocks trigger for a 3-1/2 lb. trigger pull, sights replacement, and grip tape to fix the very slippery grip. It is now safe, effective, and reliable. Don't shoot it much (only 3,000 + rds. with 99% shot with a KKM barrel) as 10 mm is so expensive to shoot but it runs great when I do shoot it.

I have a gen 2 with over 40k rounds through it and a couple others for at least 60k rounds total.... the ONLY issues ever were from my wife, who had never fired a gun before, "limp wristing" it. Once I corrected her technique, they never again had an issue.
Mods wise, I have polished all my parts to work smoother (and mainly to clean WAAAY easier when shooting cheap ammo), a 3.5 lb connector (which DRASTICALLY improved my accuracy), and of course sights.

I always chuckle when I hear people talk about how bad the stock Glock triggers are. For my first 10 years, we were forced to carry the NY1 trigger, which is about 8 pounds. I still use to shoot a 250/250, but it took a lot of work, especially at the 25 yard line.
When we finally switched to the stock trigger I was blown away how much easier it was to shoot accurately.
Are there better triggers out there? Yes. But there are a lot worse triggers.

    • @ergofoxxxy

I swapped out the stock glock trigger for the NY1, because I needed a very perceptible reset to shoot on the reset. I find my accuracy isn't worse, but my followups are faster bc it gives more tension on release to catch the reset better

    • @MDR-hn2yz
      @MDR-hn2yz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@ergofoxxxy it’s funny, because that was the one thing I really liked with the NY1 trigger, that heavy spring gives you a really good reset.

I also barely have to move my finger to get the trigger to push out to reset, which I like as well, bc I like it taking any extra chance for error out of the trigger press. the extra space for movement I was getting with the stock trigger was unsettling even if the pull weight was actually lower. The NY1 pull weight is 8lbs vs my stock 6 lbs

Sir, I totally agree with you on Glock got it right with the G45. The upper 19 slide and the lower 17 grip really makes a good match. now the G49 I heard is the G17 upper and G19 lower, I also like that Glock is giving us the option to swap the Gen 5 upper and lower parts between the G45 and G49 to a full G17 and G19.

Been using Glocks for 35 years. I wasn't overly thrilled with their Gen 3 & 4 grips, ended up milling the grooves off and stippling the grips. Nor was I a fan of their .40s except the model 23. My current full size gun is the model 45MOS with am Aimpoint ACRO P-2 on top which I have to admit, when those and other closed emitter sights came out, I said there was NO WAY in Hell I was going to put a "Mailbox" looking sight on my pistol! 😂I just did and WOW, what a great performer if you can get past the mass of that sight on your gun. Anyhow, thanks for doing this video and pointing out how Glock has made improvements with Gen 5 and reverting back to the Gen 2 type grip so to speak. No more finger groove removals planned!

The Glock 19 MOS Gen 5 is the Glock I personally like because I have medium hands and don't have the same problems that people with large hands have. I agree with you on the trigger pull as far has it being better. If all you had was a Glock 19 and you have big hands, then you could just use 17 round mags and put a polymer extension on it and it would be almost the same as a Glock 45 model. I've always heard the Glock pistol was the AK 47 of the pistol world, because of the loose tolerances. Thats why you see some people on You Tube bump firing a Glock with just their fingers. Yes they are reliable and I like that the Glock doesn't have stuff sticking out of the sides. I have heard also that the mags are polymer only. No they are not, they are metal with polymer coating. Thats why they are so durable and quiet if needed. Also concealed carry and open are two ways to carry, so longer handles don't matter with open carry. Good video, just my 2 cents worth.

I think that you will understand when I say, that Glocks and wheel guns are pretty much Cop proof. Not all cops take care of their issued gear as instructed. I don't change any parts on my pistols, except sights. To rule out aftermarket parts. I had a purchased new Gen 4 G19 completely stopped working at less than 400 rds, the trigger bound up. After disassembly I found the striker spring cups had excess plastic on the edges, appeared to be from molding. That little bit of excess plastic bound the striker up in the striker sleeve. I replaced the spring cups and striker sleeve, ran like new. My take! Sh** happens. But, I wouldn't expect that out of a Glock with 4,000 rounds, much less 400 rounds. Either way people look at it, a $0.02 piece of plastic completely stopped so-called "perfection". I have owned Glocks since the mid-90's in 9mm, 10mm & 45 ACP, the Gen 4 is the only one I ever had a problem with. Switched to mostly M&P pistols several years ago, glad I did.

I'll admit to being a Glock fan, the triggers leave a bit to be desired, better than some, worse than others but they do get better with use and I think many folks fire less than 50 rds and say they hate the trigger, I say try firing 500 rds before deciding, I do not know of any semi auto more reliable than glock and for me that fact alone overcomes any short comings. as for blowups I have never seen nor heard of this except on YT and feel like if it truly happened it was due to ammo issues. I think future Gens of Glock will show more chamfer or radius on the top of the slide and maybe more undercut where the trigger guard meets the grip and I truly hope they never put those damn finger groves back on their guns. Enjoyed your vid.

I bought the Glock 26 gen 5 and put the 2 round extension on the magazine which makes it perfect for my grip . I took it out the first time and shot it from at least 25 feet . All bullet holes were touching. Didn't notice a problem with the trigger. My first Glock I bought in 86 and I don't know the part name but it's like a trigger bar I had that replaced and it must be about 3 and a half pounds now. I can shoot very well with that one . I found a Glock 30 Gen. 4 in 45 caliber and it's not a whole lot bigger than the Glock 26 about an inch longer and heavier of course. It's magazine holds 10 rounds. That is a good compact high caliber pistol . I have extended mags for all of my Glocks . Many years ago I carried 1911's . I do like that caliber.

I would not trade these Glocks for any other pistol. When I hold these pistols, they absolutely feel like a natural extension on my arm. It feels as natural as my hand to me. I have held and shot many other pistols, but none give me that same feeling. As a pure combat pistol, it’s fantastic. I have never had a Glock miss a beat in all those years and pistols. Are they pretty, no, but I didn’t buy them to be pretty. I want it to fire every time I need it to.

I have one each of Gen1 thru Gen3 plus a handful each of Gen4 and Gen5. I still don't LIKE them.
I carried a Gen2 357 Sig model 31 for 20 years. It's still the one I'd choose if I could only have one because I have 40S&W and 9mm barrels for it that make it adaptive to whatever you can scrounge. It comes closest to a Glock "I like."
The Glock grip angle causes me to have to bend my wrist sideways towards my smallest finger to line the sights that it pinches the nerve bundle from the forearm that controls and senses everything in the hand. That's a problem. No one talks about it, but I don't think I'm so structurally different from other humans that no one else has this problem.
I haven't tried any of their new versions of the old plan, but the grip angle is the same, so I don't need to.
I have a Gen 3 and a Gen 4 that have that Streamlight light, but mine are a one piece unit. I hadn't seen the tailcap switch.
Nice presentation. God bless and safe travels.

There is actually a method to Glocks madness. The grip is typically the part that makes concealing the gun harder. A shorter grip hides under a shirt better. I actually like that someone is considering this aspect of the engineering. I do prefer a longer barrel hence, our opposing views on this. I own a Glock 19 Gen 3 and a Glock 29 SF. I've owned the 26 and 27 and while they were great, I felt the 19, not being much bigger at all, gave me more firepower without compromising concealability. Ford vs Chevy. I get your points though. I had to stop and buy a set of padded shooting gloves. My hands were turning a deffinite red. With a solid sting to boot LOL. I am very interested in purchasing a Wilson Combat full size semi auto in .45. I would want it designed to handle. Both the .45 ACP and 450 SMC ammunition. What is your experience and or knowledge.
