I am glad you had a great time at your first fiber festival, it sounded awesome 🙂. I really do love the extra big skeins that you can get a whole sweater out of, I’ve grabbed some from Miss Babs before. Out of the sweater patterns you listed, I would pick the honeycomb sweater from Andrea Mowry. However, if you’re up for a challenge, Stephen West has single color sweaters as well. I would do the Wooly Waffle sweater - I know it’s DK but I’ve knit the majority of my West Sweaters in fingering weight. The fits are my favorite, I think, but ymmv. My chest is 36 as well and I’ve had luck knitting the XL. You’d have to swatch and work a little math. Oh and I love the pikachu plushie!
Welcome to the spinning rabbit hole 😄 My little tip is to definitely keep your first spin! It is fun to look back at it over time & see how you have progressed. Plus, as the yarns we often spin on our first spins are so varied in texture, as you described, they actually are super interesting knit up in the right project- just like intentionally spun art yarns. I’ve used them as parts of shawls, cuffs on chunky mitts and hats. It doesn’t sound like you are unhappy with your first spin like some folks are with theirs (because of the size inconsistencies,) so you probably don’t need my tip, but I’ll write it just in case! 🤗 (PS, I always wind up spinning my hair into my yarn😂)
i am absolutely keeping it, and will be knitting with it! i'm actually really partial to thick-and-thin yarns. i definitely prefer finer yarns over chunkier yarns overall, but i think the inconsistencies are what make this special!
I like the honeycomb sweater, check out the garments by Shanalines Designs. They are easy, but interesting construction. I made her Recalibrate and you could easily turn it into a longer sleeve option.
What a wonderful haul. The round part on your spindle is called a whorl. Your spindles are top whorl spindles. Combed top is a worsted fiber preparation where all the fibers are parallel and going in the same direction. A bat is a woolen fiber preparation where the fibers are going different directions. You might try Craftsy for some classes on spinning. Since you are using drop spindles you might try to find a copy of Respect the Spindle by Abby Franklemont (I’m not sure of the spelling). Have you thought of looking on Ravelry for your yarn and seen what kind of projects others have knit with it?
i think my phone just has a really warm display, because re-watching this video on my computer, the latta superskein and PY mini are actually both pretty color-accurate on screen- maybe _slightly_ warmer than they are in person but not massively, and the "accurate" images are too green. just picture highlighter yellow and a true chartreuse 😅
I loved knitting the wool and honey sweater by andrea mowrey (I knit mine from a recycled eddie bauer sweater), that colour would be *chef's kiss* in that pattern. Curious about what job you have to afford that haul. Love your content, looking forward to any and all that you put up for us! blessings.
it's not that i have a really good job, it's that im 18 + live with my family so i don't have to pay for utilities, rent, food, etc 😅 once i leave for college i will definitely not be buying yarn like this lol
some of them have sheep, but this one didn't. it was literally like a farmer's market for yarn dyers etc, a convention center full of different booths set up with makers selling yarn, spinning fiber, tools, notions, etc.
I love a good haul video! ❤
Thank you! And I'm looking forward to watching your haul! How exciting!!!!! ❤😊
You made my day. Your enthusiasm is wonderful.
I enjoyed seeing all that you bought. I am feeling inspired!! Thanks!
Look at you! Over 200 subscribers! Onward!

Top is a combed prep. The yarn is prepped to keep the fibers running in the same direction.
Check out Jacey Boggs

😅love happy little yarn. What do you mean by a fiber market? A sheep and wool show?

Will you go to SAFF??
october is a really busy time for me, so i'm not planning on it for this year. anything is possible for the future, though!
