After seeing her on Terrace House, I knew after a few episodes that she would be the most successful one, and is probably one of the most intelligent and talented ones on there. And now, here she is on her path to success - and her biggest achievements will come after she's done and "aged out" of modeling. All those haters can stay envious. :P

Like Lauren I'm super inspired by Japan. I'm glad she decided to travel there and learn Japanese and then later on in life decided to live there again. Her work is amazing!! You can really tell her creative energy manifests in Japan. Trying to slowly learn Japanese also and I hope to travel there one day.

I wish I spent more time in Tokyo so I can really feel how Tokyo youth culture is. I was only there for two days but I already loved it. I love Tokyo scramble because it kind of symbolizes the life in a city like Tokyo. All different types of people tangle and meet in a place and make the great scene!

I think there are these communities of openness and expression, but Tokyo in general is very unaccommodating to standing out. Japan in general is resistant to standing out, and it's really profound to see these communities thriving in the city. I think it's really down to the density of likeminded people, comically enough. Lauren's cool as hell though. Way more vision and ambition than I think the streetwear fashion industry is used to seeing from someone who also models.

Why the hell would I do that? All I need to know is that you don't live in Tokyo, which I do know. You should keep your mouth shut about Tokyo's culture.
It's kind of surprising to hear that the foreigners are accepted in Tokyo. Also, I think it's partially because she's young, pretty and Asian/white mix. Japanese people accept white or white mix people, but I've heard negative stories from non-white people (including other Asians that are not native Japanese) who lived in Japan, unfortunately. As a native Japanese, Japan definitely has ageism and sexism (on top of racism) which is one of the reasons I left Japan and also, you're right, if you stand out you get 'hammered down'.
Yoko S This part of Tokyo (most of the area within an hour walk of Shibuya station) is like heaven for attractive, rich, young western hipsters since they are so idolized there and can afford all of the expensive clothes, if they fit, and expensive entertainment. It's a bubble that is a lot different than the rest of the very large city. That said, if you have the money, you can live in or near there and have a great time. Also, average westerners don't really get special treatment in that area since they see so many tourists and expats, you have to stick as cool and attractive like Lauren.
