There are only 100 people in the audience, because those are the NIN fan club (Spiral) members that get let in early to the shows. I know, because I'm in that video. Best fan club benefits EVER.
I am so glad he gave it his all like this, it's so respectable. And inspiring. To think it was only a soundcheck! I'm gonna hafta keep this in regular rotation (wish I didn't need to use youtube to listen to it tho) Cannot believe I only stumbled upon this today
Agreed! Everybody went all out and elevated a great song to legendary status. No clue why it took me almost 20 years to stumble across it, but better late than never.
there are few better feelings than asking a new acquaintance “do you know TV On The Radio?”, “Do you know Peter Murphy?”, “Do you know Trent Reznor?”, hearing their enthusiastic “Yes!” for each question, and then showing them this, and then witnessing their reaction. thank you for keeping the flame alive
TV On The Radio, Reznor, Peter Murphy, and only about 100 people in the audience? I'm terribly confused. Absolutely brilliant collaboration of talent, and only so many people to witness it.
I been a fan of NiN since the 90's. they literally changed my appreciation for music. I came across tv on the radio around 2007 and fell in love with their style. This is the first time I seen this performance and match up. Seeing this is like one of those full circle moments for me. This is definitely a dream team. Trent never ceases to amaze me with his passion for creating music.
It's funny how Murphy puts up a hand to Tunde and basically says "Stand back. I got this". It also says a lot that Trent and Murphy know all the words to a TV on The Radio song.
Peter Murphy / Trent Reznor / TV On The Radio June 13, 2006 Washington D.C. DC101 Webcast This was not a soundcheck. It was part of a series put on by radio stations for web/broadcast during the NIN/Bauhaus tour. This set included: 1 - Dreams 2 - Final Solution 3 - Bela Lugosi's Dead
i really admire the fact that Trent is not the center of attention for this performance. that shows to me that he isn't one of those people that always has to be in the spotlight. the fact that he is okay with being a backup singer, a very very humble move on his part.
did you see this? Who were the audiance. It was less than a hundred people in an empty venue. Really interested in what was going on there. Sound Check - corporate thing?
Peter Murphy... great voice!!!!! I do get bored, I get bored In the flat field I do get bored, I get bored In the flat field Trent Reznor with Peter Murphy, the words are not enough to say what I feel.... GREAT!
One June 13th, 2006, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Peter Murphy of Bauhaus, and TV On The Radio performed three songs for a small group of radio winners in Washington, DC. The unique set was broadcast live on Washington's DC101 radio station.
Wow, I didn't know Trent Reznor and TV on the Radio were such good bedfellows. This makes sense after listening to "Zero Sum," the most moving and glorious song on Trent's album, Year Zero, which sounds like it was inspired by TVOTR. And it probably was, too.
For everyone saying this was just a sound check, this actually held special for BIN fan club members. For 50 bucks we got a nin fan club card, tshirt, poster, early access to purchase tickets, early access to the shows through the fan club entrences and on a couple occasions access to stuff you see in the video.
Awesome collaboration...Very fine song by TV on the radio....Bravo....This is a meet and greet performance won via a radio contest....They performed this in Pittsburgh also (I think)At the Pittsburgh show they also did a Pere Ubo cover of Final Solution- look for it...it was awesome...
Wow. Is there an MP3 version of this floating around somewhere? Peter Murphy from Bauhaus' voice is perfect for this song. I'm impressed. TVotR is an amazing band.
This is one of the greatest moments in rock history (on a personal note, I adore the way Tunde keeps time on his thigh, it's very fetching, & perfectly compliments Peter's earnest & beautiful delivery #' '#)
There are only 100 people in the audience, because those are the NIN fan club (Spiral) members that get let in early to the shows. I know, because I'm in that video. Best fan club benefits EVER.
From What I Had Heard. This Had Not Been Rehearsed. So With That In Mind, This Is Incredible.
I wish I could have an mp3 version of this to listen to. Like constantly
it is fucking incredible
As someone who was there yes this was all for members of the spiral and this was the first any of them had done this
I can't get enough of this song. Must have been badass to have been there.
It’s a catchy song so it would probably be easy to sing after hearing it a couple times
Peter Murphy sung this like he had been at home listening to this thinking "I wish I could get in stage with them cause this is my shit".
I am so glad he gave it his all like this, it's so respectable. And inspiring. To think it was only a soundcheck! I'm gonna hafta keep this in regular rotation (wish I didn't need to use youtube to listen to it tho) Cannot believe I only stumbled upon this today

+Clay Keyworth technically, it was a soundcheck but it was really more of a special performance for radio.
+thevoid99 I see. Nonetheless, outstanding.
Sound check for special tix holders . Nin fans mostly. These guys were all in town . This was played later that night .
Some of the luckiest people in the world.
yea, no shit. I think they were doing this for art as opposed to publicity.
The break down with Peter Murphy singing gives me chills
Best unoriginal version of a song I've heard in a long time. TV on the radio knows about music.

F/X Art Desk same. Word for word
Could not agree more!!
3 years later.. Same for me. 🙂
It's funny how Murphy puts up a hand to Tunde and basically says "Stand back. I got this".
It also says a lot that Trent and Murphy know all the words to a TV on The Radio song.
both of them have music stands in front of them with lyrics on it.
when you have mr trent and mr murphy singing one of your songs then you know you´ve gained respect!!!
RIP Gerard...take your wings with you...

Still strong in 2020
Respect. You got it when Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy are singing your song. Respect...this band has earned it.
i really admire the fact that Trent is not the center of attention for this performance. that shows to me that he isn't one of those people that always has to be in the spotlight. the fact that he is okay with being a backup singer, a very very humble move on his part.
He can't be the center of attention in front of the mighty Peter Murphy.
for a live recording this mix is amazing
Crowd shot was a classic SPINAL TAP moment!
I can't belive there is only like, 4 people in the audience for this amazing song...
I love this song anyway but Peter Murphy kills it. I love his voice for this song.
This was amazing to witness live. Still can’t believe it’s been that long ago
did you see this? Who were the audiance. It was less than a hundred people in an empty venue. Really interested in what was going on there. Sound Check - corporate thing?
glad trent has sobered up - so much stronger now! make albums until you are 100 yrs. old trent reznor!
Peter Murphy's voice Belongs Everywhere!
Peter Murphy... great voice!!!!!
I do get bored, I get bored
In the flat field
I do get bored, I get bored
In the flat field
Trent Reznor with Peter Murphy, the words are not enough to say what I feel....
GREAT!
All my dreams are over now!!! All my wings have fallen down 🕊
Soooo super! Ein Kunstwerk!

The fans there that were allowed to catch this live were lucky as hell. I'm so jealous.
its not even about the crowd now is it? its for the music..great collaboration indeed..its says alot about tv on the radio..respect!!
holy christ there are 29 people in the audience for this brilliance
It was a sound check that the first people in line got in for :)
Randy Sparks: Quality over quantity on display here, m'friend.
This is just legendary.
Just discovered this gem. How could I have missed such a wicked trio?!
Form me, this version/performance is one of the best things ever. Love it. Well done all around. :)
Wow!! Great song. First for me…
I got to see a few shows on this tour. They were awesome. NIN, Peter Murphy and TV on the radio vibe great together
Wow, I didn't know Trent Reznor and TV on the Radio were such good bedfellows. This makes sense after listening to "Zero Sum," the most moving and glorious song on Trent's album, Year Zero, which sounds like it was inspired by TVOTR.
And it probably was, too.
OMFG, i dind't know they had made a cover of this song, this is so awsome!!! TVOTR rocks.
Three of my favorite music acts together 🔥💯
This is an outstanding version.
Peter Murphy is still one of the best. Trent owes a lot of his success to him. Opening for PM is where he developed his fame.
it's something Vevo will never hide from our ears
Awesome collaboration ❤
Amazing. Great piece of history right there.
Agreed! He keeps smiling, it's so cute.

Trent is a musical genius. Ever listen The Fragile from beginning to end. It's a damn modern masterpiece.
Simply lovely....:Peter Murphy adds a whole new dimension to an already fantastic song
So much talent on one stage. I'm jealous of all those there!
Wild that there were that few people there to watch this.
Oh those sideburns are the purrrrrfect compliment to that beautiful face.
This was amazing - was so happy to have been a part - these guys killed it.
the best video out right now and probably the best band.
I wish this was available on DVD or CD!
For everyone saying this was just a sound check, this actually held special for BIN fan club members. This is the most incredible outstanding colaboration I've ever seen! Thank you so much!
One of my fav TVOTR songs and I love how Peter Murphy rocked it.

(on a personal note, I adore the way Tunde keeps time on his thigh, it's very fetching, & perfectly compliments Peter's earnest & beautiful delivery #' '#)
Holy shit. Amazing.
What a killer collaboration!
It's like the best music of the '80s, '90s and 20-aughts came together and partied like it was 1999!!!

Such an epic performance
Completely brilliant
TV on the Radio is making a new album as we speak...
