    “When I grow up I want to be a MAX driver” I wrote those words when I was 8 years old. And now I am reaching for that dream

    In the UK bus drivers are now known as care workers, babysitters and daycare center workers. Better than we're normally called.

      Hope you got hired and are still there. Too many people go to work there thinking they can make a difference in the world only to find out you get no support from management only negative reinforcement. Do something GOOD you never hear from a manager about it do something BAD and they will go after you full steam. Even though the drivers are what make the company go around they are treated as dispensable. The attitude is we can hire somebody else which is not true anymore. They have gotten thru all the low hanging fruit and can't hire enough people because pesky rules like no drugs. If you work there you know what I am saying if not or to anybody who is thinking of working for them if you are good at being abused by EVERYBODY public and management and can take being treated poorly all the time go ahead and apply and I hope it works out well for you

      It's all smoke and mirrors.They want to look good but when you do something they don't like they will go after you for it. They also don't want to give pay raises more than 2 or 3 percent ans try to take away benefits by making you pay more of your healthcare premium and not giving you a raise to offset it si you end up losing money. Talk to some of the old timers they will confirm this

    That's really one hell of a piece of marketing.

      Said the cripply old fart who needs to do something more than just complain and start making things happen!

      Ya that's the OLD TRI MET the new one is punish drivers who do anything we don't like. Drivers have NO CONTROL over the customers because the customers KNOW they have no control and will call in all kinds of lies. Then you are treated as wrong and if they see you eating and driving they will go after you for that kind of thing

      Actually they were at a point a few years ago where they were trying to get rid of the old timers that didn’t kiss everyone’s backside and let them do whatever they wanted like not pay for the ride and all the stuff that you see them doing now. I would push back and so they found an excuse to pressure me into retiring which was actually pretty good since I didn’t have to work through Covid when they said everybody was required to wear masks but only enforced the rule on drivers and told them they could not force or refuse service to anyone who didn’t wear a mask. Life is so much easier when you don’t have to deal with a toxic environment like that company has become.

    how are they with requested time off?

    • @stepheneckles2345
      @stepheneckles2345 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get the day off by putting in a book but they only give so many people the day off without penalty (time loss) too much time loss they go after you for missing too much work.

      I'm an operator in Vancouver BC. Yeah, money and the benefits package is part of it. Personally, I love the adventure. Every day is different. True, at times it's no picnic with drunks, the weirdos, pervs, mentally challenged, the assholes. But it's what makes it interesting. :)

    What the hell is a bike doing on the front of the bus at 2.26 !! Do you carry them for passengers ?
    Wouldn't worry too much about the electric scooter riders, if they get knocked off the dammed things when they collide with the bus as they carelessly wizz in-front of you - its their fault. They won't be thinking much about you - the 'BUS DRIVER' - and all the paper work they've caused you at the end of your duty. BTW God knows why yanks call a Bus Driver an 'operator'. The bus is a vehicle, so its DRIVEN - not operated like a machine in a factory for gods sake !!.
