Yes! I've been trying to find the promo at 16:14 for 20 years. I have it on VHS somewhere but no VCR to play it. "For 2 years I waited for Mike Tyson. Then Buster Douglas came out of nowhere and flattened em. They say he has a good left jab, and a hard right hand, and that's what made em the champ. I say it was luck". Always loved that, even though I knew Real Deal didn't believe it was luck at all, it's just a promo. Thank you!!
@@BoxingOutsidetheRopes Yes, I'm not exaggerating! I'm a rabid Holyfield fan and I bought the Douglas-Holyfield PPV as a high school kid which was notable b/c a few reasons: 1) The fight was held on a Thursday evening - can you imagine that? 2) I believe it was the first ever TVKO event, which later became HBO PPV. And I just remember that promo I referenced being played endlessly on my cable tv.
1:04 - Holyfield looked like the champ and Buster looked like the challenger. I remember before the fight I had no doubt Holyfield was going to win. Wasn't surprised he won when I read about it in the paper the next day. When Buster weighed in overweight it felt like it was already over. I remember at the time the fight was like a formality.
It’s amazing how much clearer and sharper Holyfield spoke back then before the brain damage. He’s very hard to listen to these days, not as bad as Bowe though
He sure did, but I'd say overall Douglas has more natural ability and he is a natural heavyweight. But none of that matters if you don't care if you win or lose.
90's Boxing was a blast!
