The Spirit FF was my first RC car, back in 1987. Great looking... functionally horrible. I'd love to put one in my collection now. Yours is beautiful. Thanks for the memories!
Hi, honestly they run pretty smoothly if set up properly but they have to be spot on. If any of the steering arms are off it will show in running. A perfect set up and a steady drive demeanor and you’ll be fine. Cool car and fairly reliable many runs later. Thanks again definitely stay tuned as a Pegasus is coming to the channel. Take care
Very cool car and one I have not seen before. May way back when in magazine ads but certainly not running around. It has that Hot Shot aggressive looks for sure! Thanks for taking the time to share it with all of us!!
Thank you for your support and it’s my absolute pleasure to do. Honestly I’m the happiest when I’m restoring any rc. Total tranquility my fellow rc brother.✌️
Great to see another Spirit FF fan! Love your video, very accurate and comprehensive. I thought I was the only fan in the world…😊 I am finishing a nib! build while watching your video! Found it on local trading site. I had this car in 1986 when it was already quite exotic. I still remember seeing the boxart super wide rear tyres for the first time in the Merkelbach toystore at Kalverstraat Amsterdam. The store has closed already decades ago… Thx for remarking the shape of the roof, I had initially overlooked that. Should be finished like the boxart represents it indeed imo😉
The whole restoration was a joy. Really was. The drive was better than I expected. A wonderful experience. Enjoy your Spirit FF. Thanks for watching.☺️
So my daughter tells me dad can you just play the music and not speak in your videos. Kids these days.🤣 - thanks for all your support. That’s a huge compliment and it’s rc peeps like you that Keeps the hobby amazing.👍
@@LukesVintageRC thanks Luke, TH-cam is a tough one at times, and one thing I do is support and do my best to support us small channels. Your channel is so unique my friend with the lovely RCs you save. Keep on going I look forward to seeing the next Video 😎 and I love the fact you run everything you build.
Thanks Keith, so yeah you’ll enjoy it. Odd running as my video shows it pulls to one side under hard acceleration. Right now hunting an Aristocraft Hi tec Wildebeest. If you see one let me know need that for my aristocraft rc line video. Thanks and happy RCing my fellow rc brother.😊
@@LukesVintageRC I think I saw one on eBay just the other day but I cannot remember if it was eBay, eBay UK, eBay France, or EBay Germany. I search all 4 platforms daily.
I use to sell Nichimo model kits or static Models and would see these rc cars and had to get one. Thanks for watching more great vintage rc videos coming. 😊
That's pretty neat! I remember seeing these in all the magazines when I was a kid. always wondered how they would go, wonder how they would have did on jumps with all the weight up front? Nice to see it in action.
Hi buddy, yeah I always was curious about these too. The jump scene I wanted to do but no point as one shock, too low and pretty nose heavy. It wouldn’t go well. Thanks 😊
Awesome video bro!!! Would love to get one of these cars in my collection one day. They are really cool design and I can’t get over the weird spur gear!!! Definitely cool 😎
Howdy, so yeah it’s a strange design but kinda makes sense I guess as there’s more room to have a unique single shock design but these types of designs are really good for metal to metal not plastics. Industrial machines use this architecture drills, blenders but rc not so good as I nearly ruined my HIROBO Celica once with too powerful motor but turned out great that’s on my channel same principle design. Thanks for watching.😊

I owned this car in the 80s, best RC around. got it cheap cause company went out of business. use to race it. it sucked batters though, they only lasted 15 minutes. also the t bone axles for the front wheels always fell out if it hit to hard.
Howdy Paulee, there’s various kit types I have the Japanese version only with Carbon Fiber touches. Please note: some use plastic abs, others Fiberglass Resin plastics are especially rare too even today. To have an rc car with specialized components as such would be an extremely expensive investment for any manufacturer in the 80’s-nothing common with FRP. In 2023 Carbon Fiber sheets and Fiberglass Resin Plastic are readily available and nearly identical in price. Keep watching and Subscribe.
@@LukesVintageRC lol. The reason I asked is because I have two of them in RC storage. Got them back in maybe 1987 ? I plan to go through storage this summer and maybe put them up for sale. Together with my vintage Yokomo DogFighter.
That was my first RC, It was quite terrible. Almost Ruined the hobby for me. It is a very interesting car though. Just not great for a broke 12 yr old kid. It was easy to break. I had no money for parts so it spent most of its life broken and sitting on a shelf.
Howdy sir, I wasn’t lucky enough to even see one of these in 86, I was a 14 year old kid grooming race tracks at the time with my uncle’s for Rc10 heats. Oh and slot car body painting. Pretty much me in 86 rocking a rat tail. lol. Anyhow I will say the FF Spirit seemed to run great. No rocket ship but does alright. I have the Nichimo Exceed 443 coming to the channel soon should be fun. Thanks
I have one that I purchased new. I had a blast with this thing. I am about to rebuild it and have fun with it again.
Thanks and have fun
There are others doing vintage rc cars on TH-cam but you have unique cars none of the others have. Awesomeness!
Thanks so much for watching. Truly Means a ton. 😊

Well done brother she’s a looker 👍

Pretty sure that's just FRP in black and not carbon fiber, but great car and great review as always.

Luke, nice to see a restoration video. How much can you get one these days ?
Hard to say as these are tough to find. Try eBay. Lots of other great rc videos and more to come. Thanks

My very 1st R/C car brand new in the 80's. Cool looking thats why I bought it but the worst ever off-road with front wheel drive.
Howdy, as you can see in the video this one drives pretty good. Sometimes all you need is a setup. Please like and subscribe for more great content.
I just saw a nearly new one for sale in Japan on Yahoo!
That’s pretty cool I’d say a total grab as these don’t pop up every day. 👍
