I once had a really great de-icer. It was called a garage and worked like a charm. The garage is now called the alternative storage space where all the "useful" stuff that won't fit in the house goes to be forgotten about. It doesn't matter, though, as I got rid of the car 😁
My car came fitted with a device capable of generating over 186kW of heat, perfect for clearing windows on a frosty morning. I think similar equipment is standard on many modern vehicles.
@@catcake I imagine you sitting in your frosty car, bouncing off the rev limiter to get all of the watts, early in the morning waking up the whole neighborhood.
In my neighbourhood they don't get rid of the car, they just park it on the street to ensure inadequate snow clearing that they can complain about later.

A PROPERLY built drill might use twice the copper and steel, but it doesn't go for 4 weeks, it goes for 8 years. All this plastic, steel and copper could go into a PROPERLY made machine that would last nearly a decade instead of just filling up landfill. Furthermore, there's so much pointless crap like these. I have taken to getting disposable vapes and removing the battery and recharging and connecting to a headset lamp and you get at least 40 charges from a battery that was meant to already be in landfill. Not surprisingly, I have quite a stash of these batteries. Some brand include a bigger canister and smaller battery with a built in recharger. I love those. One I have even has a battery charge percentage displayed. Like actual LED 2 digit display. It apparently only gets 3 charges once the canister runs out. What a waste of an LED display
You should be well chuffed with that. I only get about 0.5% off with my Tesco card. (It's a bit ragged around the edges - beware that's what happens after years of abuse).

"If Ray Hong is a person, I'd like to say that Ray Hong is a dbag" is now one of my favorite Clive-isms. I actually know someone who got scammed by this very obvious scam. Made me realize that the scammers are far more intelligent than I was giving credit for.
This reminds me when my father would place a space heater in the car overnight to keep snow and ice off it and keep the car warm. He used to use an old work light as an extension cord for it. I don't even know how that lamp cord didn't burst into flames.
To answer why the cord didn't burst into flames, consider that if the lamp has a built-in socket it was made to be used as an extension cord. In the US all extension cords are 18awg or thicker which is conservatively rated for 10 amps (or 2/3 of standard circuit ampacity). This rating is enough to keep the conductors below 60 deg C in relatively adverse situations, such as if it's stuffed under a carpet. If it's exposed to open air, especially cold winter air, it will stay _much_ cooler.
i feel like you and computer clan should do a colab because you both talk about these scammy products. You could cover the technical part of things and ken could cover the web presence and ads and stuff
See the advertising videos. "The camera never lies". Thanks for exposing such fraudulence. Trying to do this in my own sphere 25 years ago cost me my career and business. Seems Govt. departments have the power not to be exposed. Not a single driving instructor on TH-cam has taken up my challenge to give me a demonstration drive on cam. Says it all really. Hopefully your electronic insights will save many from wasting money on disappointing junk.
One of the radioactive 5G blocking pendants might be more effective as a windscreen de-icer than the air freshener. Which reminds me to patent the uranium glass used in decanters as a self-defrosting windscreen with interior glow lighting function.
Seeing that fake car alarm being sold as a molecular de-icer…how long until we see fake ODB-II devices at double the price for having combined fuel saving promises *and* being a molecular de-icer? 😁 If you are doing a live tonight, my sincerest apologies as I won’t be able to join but Happy New Year to you and all who you love Clive 🎉🎉
I bought a couple of these and have had no issues with ice. Of course the fact I live in Florida and it hasn't been below freezing in a couple of years might play a role in that, but you can never be too safe.
I live in Akureyri, North Iceland. As it rarely gets above freezing in the winter, if you scrape the ice off your windscreen in September you don't need to bother again until May. You do however have to sweep snow from the car several times a day
years ago before heaters were standard in cars, you could get a 12 volt wire wound ceramic heater that you fixed to the window with two little suction pads one at each end🙂 it only did one side of the windscreen though
They still use those with a computer fan blower in snow plough trucks in the US and they are 200 watts. Even saw one place in Australia that sold them. There's a better cheaper trick. You cover the grille with a sheet of cardboard held on by zip ties and the car heater will run hotter.
I have a 05:30 start for early morning office cleaning. If the weather forecast is for overnight frost, I have a fan heater ready inside the car (which is parked off-road) with an extension lead arranged just outside the door. If It's frosty plug into power outlet. Ice is all clear by the time I'm dressed, and keeps clear driving for long enough till the engine has warmed up. In the UK, only necessary for maybe ten-fifteen days a year.
The fact that these videos even need to be made justifies the latest lawsuit against Google. People have no clue what's going on, misleading them is just wrong.
Dunno Clive, maybe you should have ended the year on a positive note, lol. Like sodastreaming cheap wine and turning it into champa... uh... sparkling wine Had enough of scum and dirt bags for 2023! 😁 Happy New Year, Everyone!
I recently purchased a fizzy drink maker that *can* actually put fizz into fruit juice; and wine; safely (as well as good ol' water). Yeah: it works: I made some very cheap cask wine fizzy. Wasn't too bad, either. 😉
Some are now "microwave" (some of the air toxifiers) and others are "inverter" (horrible, dollar store, USB lighter socket power supplies). I was curious about the solar cell, so I looked these up thinking maybe they'd at least be cheap, they are all ridiculously expensive. I hope you got your money back.
Advertising standards have regressed 100 years! On TH-cam I've seen get rich quick schemes, miracle medical cures, room heaters that use no energy etc... Obviously TH-cam / Google are not bound by advertising standards and are making a fortune off them.
"Molecular vehicle de-icers"? I'm offended by this name. Outraged really. Haven't these people heard that the new bullshit term to randomly slap onto things is "quantum", not "molecular"? I mean, if you must, make it "quantum-molecular" but you _gotta_ have "quantum" in there. Guys. What are you doing here? Really now!
Some people had/have the mentality that you got rich and sod everyone else. I just hope no-one buys this ridicules item along with the stupid electric fire that can heat you whole house in less than a minute. Informative video 2x👍
The best de-icer I have is my remote starter + defrosters. Not the best I've ever used (if you consider a garage or manually scraping with an ice scraper, heated ice scraper or using a heat gun to melt the ice/snow), but it does work as long as its not too frigid outside. If it is very frigid outside, I remote start with defroster heat on max for a max cycle (20 minutes), then I go out and spray some of the de-icing spray and run the wipers just before driving off. Whoever sells those molecular de-icers, especially those that are really air fresheners or glorified blinking LEDs should be sued for intentional false advertisement.
I want to say scammers should be held accountable, but the absolutely braindead consumers of these items really must be held responsible at some point too.
Yep, seen them being sold. I thought, what the what is this? Here in Manitoba, Canada, some including me have a car warmer which is a 120 volt 650 to 850 watt heater with a fan to circulate the heat in the interior. Usually have it on a timer so it runs for about 3 hours before I leave for work and it keeps windows pretty clear in -40 F. I usually buy used ones at garage sales. (Of course they are the size of an old 1970s cassette recorder.) So this little gizmo would be amazing!
Two theories on the design 1. LED gets hot. Hot defrosts windshield. 2. Intentionally using bad cells. User gets frustrated defrosting LED doesn't work and always leaves it plugged. It eventually starts a fire. Fire gets hot. Hot defrosts windshield.
I use an old hot water bottle. Scrape off what you can, then use a hot water bottle (filled from the hot tap, not the kettle) to melt what’s left. Also keeps your hands warm while you work, unlike spray cans of de-icer.
Big Clive gives a great example of tactical swearing within the first minute of the video. Doesn't swear very often, so when he calls someone a "douchebag", it has impact.
Also, happy new year, Clive! I feel that this year is gong to be a good one. As long as it's less rainy. We had enough rain last year, so a little more sunshine would be nice.
Many many people have no idea about even basic physics. They don't seem to let that stop them from having very strong opinions on things that involve a lot of physics though.
Ooh lovely! One of these would compliment my fuel molecule alignment magnets and vortex inlet generator, not to mention my three wire power boost box! YESSSS!
the best de icer is thinking ahead and getting the vehicle warmed up before it is time to leave. or have an EV with preheat like my work van, nice and toasty before going anywhere near it in the morning.
@ShadowzGSD 50 years ago VW 412 had a petrol fired heater under the back seat. It had a 10 minute spring motor timer on the dash. It worked very well....until it it worked too well :0
I mean you can buy a bag of molecular deicing powder that works without significant heat. It's called salt lol. Just pour it over you car and it won't have ice on it. Plenty of other problems but not ice😂
why are these people getting away with selling false products saying they do things they don't do its not till you get one of those things you realise you have been conned it's just a glorified air freshener they are making money on false pretenses 🤔😱just love your brake down of this fake product as usual you hit the nail on the head
I bought something from a suspicious seller once that was advertised as being genuine and new, but I had a suspicion was not. It was tech item that had been superseded by newer models but was still very capable, and the price was cheaper than it should have been, but not out of the range of plausibility for clearing old stock. Their playbook was to have absolutely glacial handling and shipping times, and when I complained they deflected onto the carriers and said I needed to wait on them. When I continued to complain about the slow delivery and how the tracking showed they didn't even tender the package to the carrier until after my estimated delivery day, they ghosted me. After I was ghosted by them I opened a case with the marketplace they sold it on, which after more than an hour on the phone and explaining I thought they were trying to stall out the clock and never deliver they said they'd open a case... but they couldn't issue a refund until the seller had been given time to provide their side of the story. Eventually the seller failed to respond to the marketplace, I won the marketplace protection ticket by default, and they issued me a refund. Three weeks after the refund case closed I got a used, grimey, broken (but genuine) version of the product I ordered in a padded envelope with no invoice or retail packaging or instructions or anything. So tl:dr; I'd expect them to stall by insisting you're using it wrong, then eventually issue a "replacement", before finally ghosting and leaving the platform they sold it through to clean up the mess (if they didn't manage to drag things out longer than the marketplace's window to make claims).
What pisses me off is that I am getting ads for these pieces of shit from TH-cam every day. However when I try to report the ad for being fraudulent the process is so convoluted I give up. TH-cam either doesn’t know or more realistically doesn’t care as they are getting revenue from these fake companies.
I use my debit card every time, literally never been an issue, my card just has some scratches. If its too hard to scrap with the card let the defrost thaw it for like 2 minutes and you are good to go. This is not a hard concept.
Not even one freaking laser beam, total disappointment! lol
0:23 got a big chuckle out of Rayhong 🤣
i feel like you and computer clan should do a colab because you both talk about these scammy products.
I saw an advert on TH-cam for one of the mystical de-icing devices you showed us last time. Bloody thing.
It's a pity most people don't understand physics, so they get scammed over and over again. 😞
"Physics huh? Know what else begins with 'f'? Family" -Dominic Dorito, The Daft and the Dangerous.
It bothers me so much when ads about these pop up on TH-cam, thank You for keeping people informed!
Seeing that fake car alarm being sold as a molecular de-icer…how long until we see fake ODB-II devices at double the price for having combined fuel saving promises *and* being a molecular de-icer? 😁
If you are doing a live tonight, my sincerest apologies as I won’t be able to join but Happy New Year to you and all who you love Clive 🎉🎉
"The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than the energy needed to produce it."
_~~ Brandolini’s law._
When I was a kid, public information films came courtesy of a little boy called Tony and his cat called Charley.
You boy, stop that, we obey the third law of thermodynamics in in this house.
The fact that these videos even need to be made justifies the latest lawsuit against Google. People have no clue what's going on, misleading them is just wrong.
The USB hot glue hooks are higher tech than these "molecular de-icers".
Dunno Clive, maybe you should have ended the year on a positive note, lol. Like sodastreaming cheap wine and turning it into champa... uh... sparkling wine
Had enough of scum and dirt bags for 2023! 😁
Happy New Year, Everyone!
The electronic one might be hackable to do something at dusk, IF it is cheap enough
Where has education and common sense gone?! 😭 How come people fall for these scams 😱
There's always been a naive section of society. Snake oil is nothing new.
Pretty sure Ray is a long time business partner with Ben Dover .
Two theories on the design
Also keeps your hands warm while you work, unlike spray cans of de-icer.
mine worked all summer long....till winter came along and broke it
Big Clive gives a great example of tactical swearing within the first minute of the video. Doesn't swear very often, so when he calls someone a "douchebag", it has impact.
Correct. No casual swearing. So when you do spit a swear, it actually means something.
@Rapscallion2009 also known as the Stephen Fry school of swearing.
@@ParanoidMarvinMk2 and you don't need a Babel fish to translate that!
:-)
Also, happy new year, Clive! I feel that this year is gong to be a good one. As long as it's less rainy. We had enough rain last year, so a little more sunshine would be nice.
I must admit, that I find it hard to believe that anyone could possibly fall for such ridiculously fake, scam items.
YESSSS!
Have you also remembered to put a couple of anti radiation stickers on your mobile phone to prevent fuel contamination while using your car?
the best de icer is thinking ahead and getting the vehicle warmed up before it is time to leave. or have an EV with preheat like my work van, nice and toasty before going anywhere near it in the morning.
@ShadowzGSD 50 years ago VW 412 had a petrol fired heater under the back seat. It had a 10 minute spring motor timer on the dash. It worked very well....until it it worked too well :0
“Does not generate heat” We respect the laws of thermodynamics in this house Rayhong!
Those also protect from 5g and provide ionizing rays that heal all ailments
I'm almost tempted to buy one of these, just to see what BS they come out with when you tell them it isn't working.
"Sir, you clearly used the device on the wrong type of ice, resulting in failure of the de-icing function. No refunds."
@@DeadNoob451 It obviously only works on Ice III.
It might actually work to remove ice if you took the pad with the chemical on and wiped it over the ice. It's likely to be alcohol based 😆
A: Start car B: Set defroster on high C: Wait 10 minutes D: Tada!! Molecular defrosted!!!
I get it, but we have real -40 defrosting to do in some parts of Canada. Some mornings 10 minutes isn't enough. Except for this winter...
If someone pays for it, it's a market to serve
Indeed. Snake oil salesmen have a LONG history.
👍👍Yet again Big Clive does the job that Trading Standards should be doing 😡
@@Matt_Quinn-Personal_Account Well said.
Your comment doesn’t just apply to trading standards.
What pisses me off is that I am getting ads for these pieces of shit from TH-cam every day. However when I try to report the ad for being fraudulent the process is so convoluted I give up. TH-cam either doesn’t know or more realistically doesn’t care as they are getting revenue from these fake companies.
I can see the usefulness of a fake car alarm. I wouldn't buy that thing from those charlatans.
I wonder why such videos trigger a temu ad quite often. 😂
That super duper aroma thing looked suspiciously like a prophylactic... with thorium oxide for the extra long-lasting de-icing energy.
the glass on that solar cell is so CHUNKY!
I use my debit card every time, literally never been an issue, my card just has some scratches. If its too hard to scrap with the card let the defrost thaw it for like 2 minutes and you are good to go. This is not a hard concept. People just love making problems out of nothing to come up with overcomplicated solutions
It's hard to believe anyone falls for this stuff. All you have to do to de-ice your windows is squirt some blinker fluid on them, and you're all set.
Hi Clive. I hope that you had a great Christmas? Anything planned for tonight and New Year's Day? May I ask where you gained all your knowledge? Was it by experience and apprenticeship or via the university route? Thanks in advance 🙏🏾👍🏾
Apprenticeship as an electrician and the ongoing career.
My god.. those pieces of crap ore over 8 bucks on the famous auction site...
LMFAO!
I do however anticipate the teardown of the "alarm".
Next de-icer video: Candle de-icers from Poundland. 🤣🤣🤣
Happy New year! First vídeo that I saw!😂
At least you could use the second unit to discourage people from breaking into your car in order to steal the first unit -- right? 😲
I just love how Chinese companies never can’t get around using some typical Asian slang in their brand names. Like they could have called themselves CarTec or Heatronics but instead it’s always something like HooLir, WuMag or LeeStar.
Both as Minggin as a famous Tain cheese. Almost forgot, have a good Hogmanay, Slainte.
The Chinese have no scruples whatsoever. I'm afraid it does rather annoy me.
If you think the Chinese are bad you should check out your local government.
The Chinese were always said to be inscrupable or something like that.
@@Rob-e8wRemember the toxic baby powder/milk icident a number of years ago in China.
Some guy decided to change the ingredients in the baby powder to save money, and killed a number of kiddies.
He put in melamine, which is a plastic.
6 babies died and others fell ill.
They have cheaper, mass produced, fake scruples.😂
Please do not generalize .. there are many descent and skilled Chinese people. ;)
Due to the increase in prices in supermarkets we have a fantastic de-icer, it is called a 'Debit Card'. It works quite well until the edge goes dull, at which point we rub it on the wall to re-establish the edge. Thanks Clive and everyone have a safe and happy New Year 🎉 🎉 🎉 ❤ 🎉 🎉
I saw one of these adverts and thought it would need your attention.
😂😂😂 maybe it’s everyone’s electronics melting the ice caps!
I wonder how many de-icing molecules that air freshener gives off, when your car is sitting overnight in sub-freezing weather.
This is the kind of trash my father would fall for
Splendid. Thank you. Keep working!
Like Foster Clark's quick imitation custard, you'll have flatulence all day and night. Happy NYE.
The only way those molecular de-icers will ever melt snow is if they catch fire on a landfill site. 🤔😉
How blissfully oblivious and tragically gullible one has to be to buy into this kind of shit?
And that's why they sell so many.
The reading is off the charts ! I think it blew a diode in my Gullimeter, at least is seems to be broken now, the needle is stuck to the far right since this video.
The dramatic zoom in as you called rayhong a douche bag 👌
I think it’s the same company that make electronic rust prevention for cars 😂
Clive, think you could do an episode on Amazon fuses? I'd love to know how many Amazon fuses aren't their rated amps.
I spotted Louis's video. Hopefully he knows that a 2A fuse doesn't blow at 2A and even at 4A it will hold for a while.
