I believe it was 26-14 when he checked in with the team absolutely floundering, unable to make a stop and leaking points at a frightening rate. Russ dove on the floor immediately finally getting the first stop? and then put on a dime dropping clinic on the two man game with Joke. He changed the tone, that was very obvious to see. (Russ was crap in the 4th but tremendous in the 1st!)

Peyton watson is getting to play Jokic right now, and he's playing great, but I don't really draw conclusions from it on how he is gonna play from the bench without Jokic. We know Jokic makes everyone better, I hope Payton can be good off the bench, but it's not gonna be as good as he is playing with the starters.
Maybe AG could be pulled early for PWat so he can still play more minutes with Jokic plus with that, we get AG wit the bench and the bench needs that. Win win situation imo

The thing is we can't expect everyone to get minutes with Jokic. And Jokic alone can't play close to 40 minutes a game either. The alternative is MPJ and/or AG get more playing time with the bench. I like MPJ playing with the bench because Russ needs all the spacing he can get, but not so much for AG as the backup center. During the regular season or up against bad teams, we may squeeze by without a legit PF/C and have DJ as the backup 5, but in the playoffs that's not going to work. AG can play backup center, but it doesn't mean he should all the time. We still need a backup PF/C for Jokic and AG. That's the long term solution. There's a reason every NBA team has a legit backup center. If only DaRon Holmes didn't get injured.........
The craziest thing is we've missed (in my eyes ) our second best all around player 4 10 games. AG is gonna make us so much better defensively and athleticly.
I agree, securing defensive rebounds is a major flaw better teams will make pay. I guess part of it is long rebounds from 3's but also Joker is quite flat footed as the anchor. Hopefully AG can shore that up but then again he's not exactly a demon on the boards...

We're playing DJ because all the other bigs we have now are either unplayable by Malone or injured 😒. PJ Hall at the 5 sounds like a disaster tbh. His defense might be on par with Saric and even if it's better I do not wish to find out.....We need to just trade for a capable PF/C instead. I hate to even suggest this, but as a last resort we can try trading for Jeff Green from the Rockets. Funny enough, Zeke and Jeff's contract actually matches this year. I don't believe Jeff Green would be the answer (obviously not long term because he's old af) but if he's playable or is at least decent on the floor, then I doubt mind. It's a way to dump Zeke's contract too. The crazy thing is this whole thing started because Nuggets let go of Jeff hoping they can develop Zeke and have him be the long term backup center for the team. It's safe to say that his projection is looking pretty grim right now. In my opinion, I don't think Zeke is unplayable. He's just unplayable as a backup center. If the team starts to view him and use him more as a PF like a Jarred Vanderbilt, Zeke can thrive as a 3 & D wing/forward or at the very least he wouldn't be as bad as he is now. Basically, Zeke can't be the only source of rim protection/paint presence. He needs to be paired with another rim protecting big. Yet, Malone refuses to utilize him as a 4 and insists on playing him as a traditional backup 5. And why is Malone so stubborn on playing Zeke as a 5? Because the team as 0 rim protection at the center position and front office refuses to sign/trade for one. Malone is atrocious at developing backup center and bringing out their potential. That's why he's sticking with DJ at the moment even though I dislike the idea myself. Because yes, DJ is earning himself playing time right now and it may look like he can hold his own, but against contending teams he's getting cooked 24/7. If we have to rely DJ as the backup center, that's not a good sign but as of now it beats Saric and Zeke as the backup 5 with Russ off the bench.
