I just finished the campaign on Legendary and it was frustrating and terrible, alone.

Rob And if Emile had any situational awareness, or paid any attention to his motion tracker, Noble Six would’ve gotten on the Pelican. Then Noble Six would’ve been right alongside the Master Chief throughout the Halo campaign, and the battles after that.

what spartans were made to do
I remember doing this mission on SLASO (Solo legendary all skulls on) and it took me 3-4 hours. Every time I died I needed to back out and load it again to be able to get the checkpoint and avoid starting over. I was following this guide when I did that (minus the concussion rifle boost), so I'd hate to imagine how long it would take without the despawn and speedrun exploits. The funny thing is that straight after I finished my insane playthrough; I did the entire mission again on 4 player coop Laso because my friends wanted me to help them do it. That was hands down the most intense Halo campaign experience I've ever had; I had a lot of trouble sleeping after it because I was so pumped.
Watching this in 2015, still amazing, I love to come back to it every now and then

Back when this game was big, this level took me and 3 other friends 4HOURS to complete, it was long and hard, but after I saw this, I felt ashamed

@ The whole point of speed running is to finish the game as quickly as possible. The whole point is to find the best exploits and skips. And if it takes "no skill", good luck trying to do it yourself.

I just finished this mission on LASO, using this method!!!!! I am actually so happy right now! I did it in about 30 minutes though, as i was being pretty careful and didnt want to die. I am no pro at halo reach, but i got through the mission pretty easy.

I remember this weekend. It was hell. Me and my 3 team members were yelling at each other for 6 hours. We all wanted to quit and began wanting to kill each other because of the frustration. We made it eventually, but we realized that it wasn't worth the credits. However, now it's worth it that we can say we remember and we were there during the Reach era.
I know they're only video games, but if Naked Eli accomplishes only his mastery of Halo for his entire life, it's a huge accomplishment.

@PopulistSilver6 Having teammates helps only if they don't die repeatedly, I know your pain. Which part of the Mass Driver did you mean? If you are referring to the final 2 shots into the Covenant Cruiser, have full shields and health then use Hologram to the left to distract the phantoms and banshees while you blast the 2 shots off and end the mission.

@grahamsayles I found that crouch jumping sometimes pushes you off the pipe so I just do the frag + 3 shots. The conc rifle pushes you in whatever direction you aim, so just aim straight down. If you are on the top of the pipe trying to get to the mass driver, try to shoot yourself directly up and then move your analog left because if you are too close to the wall you will push yourself off on a little overhang. I'm glad you were able to make the jump tho!
just beat reach today, first time, legendary. of course this pops up. i had to have spent an HOUR just trying to kill the three elites before the cannon because stubborn >:( lol but it was worth it. anyways, wow... dude that was quickkkkkkkk gg bro! after spending that much time and patience on the pillar, it blew my mind seeing it done that quick. nice work my dude.
I followed another video that made me do concussion jumps to the MAC. It was brutal and took most of my time, which is now at 45m. I shot everything from up there, but no more phantoms are approaching. I now have infinite checkpoints and I'm scared I will get another if I jump down. I'm only on heroic...

Again, go look at them.
Skirmishers- Green/Red/Gold, run around a lot and carry a large variety of weapons.
Jackals- Two kinds- Shielded and unshielded. The unshielded ones have little glowing blue headset things to help with sniping. The latter are the ones in the video.
They are NOT Skirmishers. Also, don't take my insults to heart. This is just simple correction on an internet forum.
My buddy and I tried this a month ago, it took us an hour to do it, even with the mac gun strategy. Thanks for showing another way to do this. We also went for the 200,000 points weekly, though.

@MrBOOMheadshot32 After forum feedback, Bungie decided to remove the Blind skull from the LASO Challenges. I'll be doing a full LASO a.k.a. Mythic run soon for HSH, as will Ultimate RC I believe.

@Abridgedfan07 an easier way is the take the drop shield from the bugger cave all the way to the end and use it on the top of the railing behind where I do the concussion jump in the video. From there, you angle the concussion and shoot twice to boost you up to the pipe.
I learned along time ago, you just have to shoo the ship in its weapon to kill it. Hold on, I may sound stupid, but you just have to shoot it in the weapon at any point. I would hop in the mac gun and immediately shoot the ship in its weapon, because it already counts for that hit, so when the moment comes when you're supposed to shoot it, it will automatically end the mission, because you've already shot it. I'm not sure if this works with the mythic skull on, but it is a point where you could shorten the time if it works.

hey i've tested the jump to the mass driver. What do u actually do ?? While your are laumching yourself ip to the railway, do u keep looking down? When i dont i get launched away from the wall.
also Eli do you think learning and doing the speedrun strat for this level is harder than just clearing it the normal way?

@megamuffin15 Timing is important. I know in the Mythic thread someone said you can take however long you want, but that's not true. You need to drop from the rafters immediately after the phantom leaves or else the hunters will spawn. Try crouch jumping and do it exactly as I do in the video to hit those jumps!
@Nub901 yep. If you click on the Weekly Challenge in the Challenge Menu, it shows you all the skulls you need. Blind is not one of them.

@JJAB91 Right. Cortana is both a mental clone and physical representation of Halsey. She chose to take a human form like her "former self", unlike some AI who take non-human forms or look crazy like cowboys.
I has a ?: at 7:07, I noticed another Elite w/ a cuncosion rifle(terrible speling FTW). So would it be possible to kill that Elite, take it's ammo, and to the trick at 11:04 again instead of going through the intended way?
Checkpoints still occur even if Iron skull is on, it's just that they don't matter, because you get to start all over when you die. However, they do matter if you save and quit, which you still can, and you will start from the last checkpoint. Regarding Blind skull, which controls HUD, you do need it for real LASO, but for the LASO challenges Bungie provided weekly for the game, the skull is not necessary. Therefore, Nak3d Eli is not playing real LASO, just a challenge version.
@SeaworthyGnome Cable, but that shouldn't matter for Campaign runs if you are playing alone.

@Nak3dHalo What Capture Card do you use? I'm going to guess you either use Bungie Video or the Hauppauge HD PVR.
@halocod27 Place the grenade under your feet, concussion 3 times as fast as you can, and move your spartan to the right. Then turn around, walk up the pipe until you see the white marker, and concussion once straight down and move your spartan to the left. Then run to the Mass Driver and the fun begins!
Is the original Reach different than the MCC reach?
Cause when I did skulls there was no hud, no crosshair, no chief (can't see weapons in hands)
Yes. OG Reach had weekly challenges, one of which was "Complete X level on LASO". Challenge LASO did not include the Blind skull.
Even with these awesome short cuts that you've found, I would never be able to get past most of the covenant hordes without dying.
@Dommusfly No lasers on solo, only co-op. But yes that's a good strategy right before boarding; otherwise the phantoms are quickly replaced.

I tried it today, but I totally sucked at speed, but thank you very much for the tips, it cut a lot of time for me, by the way I wasn't able to do the jump to the MAC cannon and destroy some Phantoms early, I had to deal with all the dudes in there and with some elites by the MAC too, but totally use the needler rifle technique. Thank you again!
@GamersHeaven100 Half correct. Cortana is the only AI who can duplicate herself to be in multiple locations working independently at the same time. "The Package" is thus a copy of Cortana that is reunited with the original Cortana on the Pillar of Autumn :)

I haven't done a speed run, but when I get the chance I take a spiker. It's always good to add your melee, plus most of the brutes have them. That lets you have ammo at all times.
I can't get over how hilarious the upper-left banshee's piloting at 0:59 is.
@Shirsaha I did it on my first try actually. But if you are having trouble, you can bring the drop shield from the bugger cave and position it at the top of the staircase railing, then concussion at an angle onto the pipe. It's a bit easier but you can't sprint to that point so it's a tradeoff for time.

@srsharma27 That's a great idea! The only issue might be the positioning of the Field Marshall because the route I take inside forces him to move to the area where I assassinate him. But I honestly never thought about that; I'll definitely test it out!

There is something weird about that disappearing BoB and not just that he disappears (litteraly). But if you are running this mission on Easy (I'm just getting the par time achievement, don't bust my balls), it seems that he might be the only enemy who carries a concussion launcher. He can be killed if quick enough. It's just sorta odd that he's in the middle of a speedrun path and otherwise seems to disappear with the weapon which allows us to jump up to the MAC gun early. Did they put him there for a reason?
@xDarkxAssasinx LASO = Legendary All Skulls On, but for the Challenges you can omit the Blind Skull.
@MrOther912 Tilt skull allows you to survive the shots. Sometimes you can even survive a stick from a plasma grenade!

Seems like you have to be fast with the Nade+Concussion jump, otherwise the first Phantom is too low to, can't aim that low with the MAC.
You can: 1) Aim as low as you can, 2) Start holding RT the moment you get in. It takes a second to get going, but I'll start automatically if you hold down the button.

Just a tip which I've been using, at the very end grab a spartan laser and blow off the concussion cannons on the phantoms. It'll buy you some time to crack the second shot since they can't do crap to you without their concussion rounds, plus gives you spartan laser kills and something to do instead of camping at the very end (basic tip for anyone).

Can this even be done anymore? The splash from your concussion rounds are doing 4 hp bars per shot, but the video shows them only doing 1 each!
I've practiced this at least 200 times over about an hour and a half (yes, I've been keeping track), and I have the actions down to within a virtually non-existant margin for error.
Can anyone confirm they've done this on PC MCC?
Did it need tweaking to account for whatever's different with it?
(And yes, I have tried it both with and without the cowbell skull for the increased explosion acceleration.)
@@TheKhopesh Same dude, the concussion does a LOAD of damage, you can't "rocket jump" your way to the cannon

I found another method along the same lines, essentially you stand on the railing while walking forward and fire a conc round at the ground instead of using a grenade.
The timing is tricky, but with some practice I got it to work.
i did campaign a year or two ago on heroic and spent who knows how long on the wraith fight and final brute fights, this will make finishing legendary alone now so much easier

Holy shit i fukin love u nak3dhalo i beat the campain on legendrey solo and if i saw ur speed run videos it would be so helpful but its to late this mission to me like 2 nights the part were you go in the boneyard map was the hardest shit ive ever done in halo. But now I know 4 later and do legendary speed runs 4 halo ce annaversery and halo 4.
@PopulistSilver6 That's the worst when you think you beat it but then you don't hear Keyes' voice and the mission restarts! Luckily that has only happened to me in practice runs. I wish there were a better way when you're alone. If playing with teammates, at least there are lasers and you can take down all the banshees and a couple turrets at the end.
