This is the second time I've heard DFW say that he was the only person in a T-shirt and that he forgot to bring a notebook. The other time was on a cruise ship.

@@nicholasshipley34 ok thanks for the feedback. My channel just got monetized this week and wasn’t sure how the ads would work out. I’ve turned off the ads during the videos but there will still be ads before and after the video. If that’s still annoying I can turn off the non-shippable ads before the video

Thank you! Yeah ads before videos aren't an issue I just put your vids on at work or doing things around the house where I can't be skipping ads during videos all the time. Really appreciate your work!

I love how DFW is meant to go interview the top dogs for these pieces but ends up not actually interviewing anyone and just observing.

Watch the interview with his former editors. They talk about this especially pertaining to his article about McCain.

I have to read this for my Lyric Essay graduate course tomorrow and absolutely didn't have the time for it-so I'm really glad I can listen to this on my commute! Thanks for posting this, your reading voice is so good! Consider me subscribed to your channel. 😊

19:59 This is one of my favorite parts of the essays where he describes the disconnect he has with eating meat and simultaneously feeling sorry for the animals in their pens.

@@Pallettown I really like your reading voice. Very good. For a brief few weeks, I read written material as it was recorded for the blind, at the studios operated by former radio announcer Hap Hapgood, who himself was blind. There's much more to reading than one might think.

I love how all these kids in college are supposed to read but they can’t be bothered and just listen to the TH-cam video in-between bites of a cheese burger while boldy t-shirted.

Thanks for the videos u have made. You actually sound like him. He writes so casually it's easy to not realize how great he is, just like tennis players on tv. I got into tennis from the videos u made.

I agree, he makes it seem so effortless. His writing on tennis is fascinating. This was one of my first recordings and one of my favourites. Thanks for listening!

I'm sad and a little puzzled that there are no wishes for DFW to rest in peace, no expression of condolences. Why is this?

instead of wondering why the rest of humanity failed to meet your standards you could have just expressed these sentiments yourself. You are sad and puzzled for no reason whatsoever. Your comment is epic, though.
