Growing Ugu in colder climates is extremely challenging. I continue to experiment with growing Ugu (fluted pumpkin or okong obong) in the USA to figure out the best way to achieve success.

Another awesome video. I returned from home on the 24th, put mine in the refrigerator for 3 days. I was very tired, and jet lagged. I planted in a pot on Sunday the 27th of February and most of my seeds have already sprouted. The only concern I have is that I live on the East coast and the last frost is forecasted for May 1st. My plants would be miserable indoors because of short sun days by the window. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have been procrastinating to start this channel. I think you woke me up from my slumber and just inspired me. Kudos.

Wow I sowed mine on the 24th of February will be so good to compare both growths. With our different weather conditions. Mine have been on a heat mat and under grow lights.

Every other day will be fine too. It depends on the moisture retaining ability of your soil. If the soil looks wet, don’t water. Do the finger dip test. If you dip your finger into the soil and it is wet, then you don’t need to water.

Ugu seed is extremely hard to come across in the USA. I hesitate to recommend a place to buy as I’ve had some bad experiences in the past. Additionally, it’s kinda late to plant Ugu seeds now in most places in the USA/Canada as we are heading into the colder months. When I do find a trustworthy site around spring, I’d share. Thanks
