    >To Battery or Not To Battery....< that is the question.
    Right now: Installing a new, programmable thermostat, 5 wires (RC/R, W, Y, G, C).
    One: I understood blue wire goes to C. It wasn't wired in the th. I'm removing, which is not programmable.
    Two: So, do I put the batteries in, or not?
    Three: I don't know if I have a heat pump. We're in the hottest part of Florida. (probably not??)
    Thanks for your detailed videos, gentlemen.

    It is possible you might want to check the Cap see if it has the right amount of MFD and the contactor to see it is getting 24 volts. That's a startingpoint

    Hi Lauj Vwj, It sounds a bit more involved and might be possible your control board, Cant be sure on this one, would have to run a diagnostic. Hope you have sorted it out though.

    I just bought a focus pro6000 TH6110D and every time I install it I get hot air instead of cold. Tried it twice already and results are always the same. I have 5 wires from the wall and have them match with the thermostat. What am I doing wrong?

    I am finding that my new honeywell thermostat inside temp reading is off by 4-6 degrees. In general doesn't seem to read anything below 78 so at night it will be freezing as the AC is on nonstop. You ever run into this?

    • @Environc
      @Environc  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jon, The warranty is your best bet. Its likely out of calibration defective. The only thing you can check is your set backs. But if its the wrong temperature well its a good idea to return it.

    • @FourthRiverJoint
      @FourthRiverJoint 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Environc thanks for the fast reply. I actually picked up the same one at homedepot today and swapped out the console. Didn't touch the wiring and works great. Just going to return this defective one now as I have only had it for a month or so.. Was afraid I wired it wrong, but had cold air coming out and your video confirmed I didn't do anything odd with the wiring. thanks!

    I have (2005 year system) 4 incoming wires coming out of wall, White, Red, Yellow, Green (They are each marked 600V), the wires appears to be made into the back (haven't attempted to take it apart), on the front side are MUCH SMALLER wires being attached to terminals marked R, W, Y, so there is NO front terminal marked with G with a wire attached to it on the front side.
    It appears I need a "line voltage thermostat" is this correct??
    What programmable Honeywell will work with MY system?
    Is there the same mfg. that makes a wifi type I can change temps etc. from phone? Which model?
    HOW would I hook up such with my system?

    I have a conventional gas hot water boiler and separate central air unit. I want to replace my battery powered thermo with a new wifi thermo. My 5 wires go to W/Y/Rc/Rh/G. The wifi thermo requires power on term C. How do I do that with my existing setup?

    • @Environc
      @Environc  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have no common at your tstat. Check the wall for extra wire , attach to C terminal at tstat then the same has to be attached to common at boiler. This should do it. Like a jumper in tstat between rc/rh . good luck

    since I switch my thermostat it has never been the same I install a Honeywell thermostat I replace a very old one, I did the mistake to not code the wires before removing the old one and now the new ones trips all over the place, I only have 4 wires coming out of the wall:
    red wire: R letter
    white wire: B letter
    black wire: G letter
    blue wire: Y letter
    is a central non gas ac unit I switched the button on the thermostat where it asks if it,s gas or electric
    any info will be greatly appreciated

    I have been trying to diagnose our Tempstar unit and it's been killing me. For some reasons even if I disconnected the ORANGE wire from the thermostat and when I checked the unit outside there was power going through the ORANGE wire when it is in heat mode on the thermostat. It shouldn't have anything on heat mode. I measured the current and it was reading around 0.3A. This caused cooling to be on the whole time even if it was in heat mode for the thermostat, energizing the reversing valve solenoid. The reversing valve solenoid was only de-energized when I disconnected the ORANGE wire from the thermostat ORANGE wire where they meet outside. When I did continuity test AFTER disconnecting the unit from the thermostat cable there was no beep to indicate that there is a short between the ORANGE wire to any other wire. To me I see the ORANGE wire as an open circuit when I disconnect it from the thermostat, but yet there is current going through it in heat mode. My best guess is that something is wrong within the thermostat cable and not the thermostat itself or the unit outside, it's an 8 conductor cable. Any idea what could be wrong?
    One other thing is that Y2 and W2 are jumped together. Underneath Y2 is E(Emergency) and underneath W2 is AUX(Auxillary). Everything else is wired the same way you mentioned in the video.

      Hi Sheila, Look at this one Item number L41-489 JS or The Round® Mercury-Free Thermostat 1H+1C these are just for AC and Heat not a heat Pump. Non programmable. They are basic and reliable. or this large read out digital version. TopTech TT-N-801 1 HEAT + 1 COOL. You need to change your thermostat. This seems to be the bottom line.

    I have a 4 wire thermostat that i want to upgrade with a new Honeywell. I dont have a C wire at the thermostat and Honeywell states that you can substitute the C wire with the G wire and run a jumper from Y to G at the furnace control panel is that something that is common to do?

    • @Environc
      @Environc  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have a air conditioner? If you don't then its plausible. But if you have a central AC out side then there is more to this. I need more data. Honey well makes kits also that might apply in your situation also if you have a AC.

    • @joejones5653
      @joejones5653 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't recommend doing that. You could short out the transformer if you don't wire it properly. If you are not familiar with the wiring scheme of a control circuit then it could prove costly!
