Love this technique chat. The bike industry is SO into talking about the minute differences in geometry or parts, but so little attention is paid to how we actually ride the bikes in comparison. I’d love more stuff like this. Preston is super knowledgeable, I bet he’d make a super good coach.

for me personally as a hobby rider I found it's a huge benefit to finish braking early, like what's been said about Loic. Trying to think ahead a little and start and finishing braking a bit earlier that I was used to, and then open the brakes and commit fully. It makes riding technical sections so much smoother and faster apparently. You take your time to aim and then commit.

Rather informative and interesting while still being just natural communication. I'm a fan.

Fast in fast out is always fastest. But maybe as the track wears in, there’s consistently more traction in the early braking zone?

The craziest part of bruni I saw this year is that every rider who had the HR monitor shown on the live feed would go from around 100-180 bpm up and down and it would change section to section. Brunis was always like 151 bpm the entire time. Like he has his inner idea of how "hard" to go just perfectly at that pace exactly.

The heart rate data was wrong. They even stopped showing it later in the year because it was laughable how inaccurate it was

I remember that. I don’t think it was accurate. I thing Gwin said the same thing.
