Most 19 year olds are naive, we generally lose our naivety as we experience life, but the worrying thing is her self esteem is low she allows behaviour she’s not comfortable with. Crying to her Mum etc if he goes off and she is left behind. She’s clearly very enamoured and in lust with this guy, those emotions are often mistaken for love. The only way to protect our children is to encourage a well rounded self esteem.

@@Thelightning782 you can only do so much as a parent. She could've taught her all about this, raised her in all the right ways, in all the right things, that doesn't guarantee she'll listen. She might rebel, she might end up with different beliefs & views. You can show your child the path & walk with them some of the way but somewhere down it they'll need to continue on their own & all you can do at that point is hope they take your advice. There are some parents who did all the right things & were the "perfect" parent yet their children become awful people or make horrible mistakes. Some of it comes down to parenting but not all.

Unfortunately our society has moved far from our tribal traditions. In those times young would live with an Older Aunt, or uncle if male, or even generations would live together. who would respect and help care for the elder

This is Randy's wife commenting. I used to have a lot of gay friends, fun people, but they were always looking at straight men to "persuade them" to seduce them. Even married men. If he has many gay friends and constantly socializes with gay men, I absolutely believe he is "active" in the gay community. Why is this Mom letting him live free in her house making it easy for the relationship to flourish. If he has to work and pay bills and rent, it will be a true test of their commitment to each other. The Mom wants them under her roof to monitor everything , but needs to let go and let her daughter make her own mistakes.

So, what was the hesitation on not taking the drug test on Dr. Phil but ok privately with the mom & and daughter?!?! I've been there and done that. That girl gave him her urine. That's the only reason it came out negative. Period
I'm thinking that's probably not possible. But I do think he was worried the drugs were not out of his system!
@bec8595 That's definitely not the case. Drug attics know how long it takes for whatever drug to leave your system. They live plotting around these things. He just didn't expect for Dr. Phil to be prepared with a professional drug screening evaluation at his show. So, he didn't have time to prepare for a negative result. Either way, that girl should run as far away as she can from him. Most girls that turn into drug addicts were influenced by their boyfriend & used with them for their first time.
@bec8595 it could definitely happen, I was a drug counselor, people would take someone else's urine, put it in a waterbottle, keep a hotpack on, put it in between their legs so it would mimic body temperature. So it's a common method used to trick addiction specialists and addiction Dr's. There are other ways as well, I'm sure he knew it was a possibility and came prepared.
That never occurred to me, but it's very possible.
He was extremely reluctant and evasive around the issue, when if he was genuinely clean, he would have been completely confident of a clear result passing the test.

The second girl reminds me of a relationship I had when I was young . The boy would break up with me before birthdays or Christmas to avoid having to give me a gift. He went off for several weeks and I knew that he would break up with me so that he could see other girls so I finally came to my senses and made plans with a friend to go out that night even though we had a date during which he wanted to "talk". When he arrived, I was able to say. "Let's just get this over with, I've got plans tonight. " I never got back with him even though he expected that I would.

He's definitely having dirty little trips away and coming home living a sudo straight life with her. He probably only does drugs while on these weekends away being gay. Young people saying “I’m an adult and you can’t tell me what to do” while living at home are frustrating to me. If you want to treated as an adult, move out and support yourself. Independence is a 2 way street. Mom wouldn’t be nearly as involved in the relationship if they didn’t all live together.

I agree with you. The more you tell them no, the more they will do it. My daughter had two horrible relationships… lucky for circumstances she’s in the military so these boys didn’t have access to her 24/7. I used reverse psychology… the first schmuck even called me mom. I steered from the sidelines with gentleness and only in the end did I tell her, and only once, that she had to let him go. The second relationship was worse but at that point I trusted her to see the red flags and have self respect. She did. It’s hard, but it’s their life. The more you try to control, the less control you actually have.
My kids weren't even allowed to date until they were 18 😂 and they wouldn't dare ask for their boyfriends to live at my house! boys weren't ever allowed in our house if we weren't home, and were never allowed in bedrooms or behind closed doors..
