A war strategy in EU4 is hard to come by so I thought I'd make this brief list to help you become the next napoleon! With this, you can defeat eu4 coalitions and even the ottomans!

    Also don't forget to declare war on the first day of the month to get an easy stacking plus also scoop up a few mothballed forts if your quick!

      That's why army morale should recover every single day more like in HOI4, which would make more sense and make the game perform even slower.

      @@piotr1561 Even slower 😂😂 What would be better is being able to declare two kinds of wars, formal war with warning of a few months for your enemy to prepare. And surprise war that costs more AE. But it would be a huge change, so EU5 maybe.

      @Sam Wallace Truce breaking and no-cb isn't intended as a way to declare war, its just there as to not limit the player. The ai doesn't do it and doing it makes the player punished severely. Its not something an unexperienced player can do.

      And even if you were able to get them there, you’ll have split your forces and can’t easily consolidate them if the enemy attacks one of the armies. It would only really work if you outnumber the enemy greatly, and at that point why would you worry about terrain advantages?

    It is worth noting that shift-consolidate will slow down your overall replenishment rate for an army, so it is only situationally useful.
    In the most basic example - an army of 10 units with 100 casualties each if you shift consolidate the time to get back to 10,000 men in total changes from 1 month to 10 months (for 100% replenishment rate).
    Also - the second obvious piece of advice is - don't shit consolidate to less infantry than you have regiments of artillery in an army.
    If you've got 6,000 infantry in 10 regiments and 10k artillery in 10 regiments and you shift consolidate and go straight into a battle - you're going to lose 4000 artillery manpower from the units on either flank almost regardless of if you win the battle. You're better off having the infantry tank at 60% and letting all the artillery do their damage for longer in most situations.

    • @darkguild69
      @darkguild69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly not to mention it costs more money by having to keep recruiting new units to replace the ones that were consolidated which is almost impossible early game with many countries as their income is nonexistent. It's generally easier to just let your units replenish as needed instead of consolidating.

    One handy tip is that the AI can't coordinate with other AIs and is shockingly bad at coordinating with itself. It often won't merge its armies, so it won't attack big armies that you've got because your army is bigger than its little sub-armies, even if they overall outnumber you.

    • @classiclife7204
      @classiclife7204 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And that's it, really. A player with even a little experience will start noticing that the AI doesn't haul around in massive death-stacks looking for battles (well maybe late-game, but all stacks are death-stacks by that point).

    consolidating troops can sometimes be a bad idea: it reduces your reinforce speed, because reinforce speed is based on the number of soldiers in a given regiment, to a point, but also can hurt you in combat, if you end up having a significantly lower combat width.

    So are you saying that the defensive bonus transfers from the enemy country to you as long as your army controls the provinces adjacent to the fort, or are you simply instructing that one should fight on a province away from the fort so the enemy doesn't get any bonus?

    • @dr0g_Oakblood
      @dr0g_Oakblood 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      If the fort is on defensive terrain, the besiegers get the penalty for all combat on that fort, so what you want to do is force the enemy to not fight you on their own forts. A fun way to use this is that rebels are always the attacker on forts even if you are at war with their nation, so you can fight an enemy army on an enemy's fort and the rebels will get the penalties, and you can steal the siege of a fort from them.

    • @dvdpro3726

    • @IceNinja18
      @IceNinja18 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bring more cannon fodder or reduce the enemy number enough that they won't attack you. You may also try breaking an opening in the walls for 50 mil points for a quicker siege. If that is still not good enough you can make an opening in the fort and then assault the fort. Only do this if you have the numbers to spare as even a 1000 defenders will wipe out a ridiculous amount of your men. I personally only do this when the fort has a maximum of 400 men defending it. Also, only assault when the enemy isn't nearby as your morale and troop count will plummet very quickly depending on the number of men defending the fort.
