I used several Productivity series pacs till our 1 control network was 10.20.26... Productivity ip address cannot begin with 10.20. WTF? Sure I could do some fancy routing but still couldn't send or receive explicit messages to other devices on the network. If the engineers for this product were cheap enough to reserve the whole 10.20 network what other corners did they cut? I will be extremely selective on where I install any more of these!

Contacting tech support is the first thing i did. Even he said he wishes this would be changed and had no advice except the routing mentioned above. Flexibility seems to be a popular buzz word in your sales. I agree, the user needs to be flexible, all jumping through hoops. If you need to restrict a whole B Class network, at least give the user the option of changing it. By the way, is it documented somewhere yet, that these addresses are restricted? I spent most of a day searching the manuals and found nothing. Please change this so I can leave the nice comment I wish to give.

How does the BRX change the landscape?

@Alex Powers, thanks for the commment. The BRX PLCs changed this landscape greatly. With the advanced features like Motion control, Stage programming, Pricing and many more, the BRX PLC has made a class all of it's own. The competition between our PLCs, helps each PLC line grow and you as a user gets to reap those benefits. If you are curious to compare and contrast our line, here is a informative overview; cdn.automationdirect.com/static/catalog/images/product-pdf/PSO-PLCSystems-Overview.pdf

I do love the pac3000 but it's so frustrating when you can't get something to work . For example i've got a SOLO temperature controller SL9696 series hooked up to the RS-485 connection on the P3-RS module. Using the Modbus read command I can see it working just fine. But for the life of me i can not get it to timeout . I used the RS485 HeartBeat Timeout Bit on an NO contact but I can't get it to turn true.

With the introduction of Win 10 the probability that i would base a control system on a pc is nearly 0. Hopfully big brother is not inside my pac like it is in windows. And pac doesnt need win update every 5 minutes.

You can, multiple times in fact. The Europeans are doing it on a daily basis. The only reason to stick with AB is because the old timers said so.
