Keep in mind, most of the time spirits don’t realize they are actually spirits. I find that addressing them as if they are still alive, “is anyone here with me/us” tends to work better. I avoid words like spirits, haunted, entities, etc. Anything that might cause them confusion in case they don’t know they are dead. Once you get a decent amount of activity, you can start asking what happened to them, kind of easing them into spirit talk. Otherwise y’all are killing it. Great video.

My theory: I think the reason the words during the esthes method didn't make sense is maybe because Joe may think he still needs to control the prisoners despite being dead. You know how all the documents and files were taken away or "burned", Joe might want to keep what he has done and what he let happen stay concealed. Mully and narrator said the words were cutting off, it mightve been Joe pulling away the ghosts, not letting them speak. It's like he's taunting them, letting them show themselves by replying to Charlie by saying hi to him when he asks them to, repeating words when he asks but when they start asking things like "what's your name?" "Can you tell us something about the prison?" The words don't make sense and start cutting off. It's like Joe is taunting them, giving them the chance to confirm they do exist but not letting them actually say anything that could confirm the horrible things that may or may not have happened at the prison. Also, you know how prisoners have very limited time when getting visitors to talk to them, there's so many prisoners they might all be taking turns talking and when things just start making sense they get pushed away like "times up!" And then another ghosts starts talking from scratch, making it confusing.
Honestly that does make a lot of sense because other ghosts probably really fear Joe!

Charlie is such a wholesome but also genuine character, we love him he’s the peak of content creation, never tells a lie and if so it’s a white lie, always on the right side of history and sticks up for those who deserve it, and humbles those who need it. Truly a man of integrity and many great qualities

I’m so glad Josh said that the Estes in the Warden’s room (43:40) sounded like conversations amongst themselves, think about it;
“Somedays I feel like I’m falling.”
“Late for work.”
“…Careers…”
They are right next to the residential where guards possibly came and clocked in and out and talked amongst themselves and the IN the Warden’s office where he would maybe talk promotions or other career choices inside the jail; they said the room feels HEAVY but it is not very active. Seems to me the residents are reliving their work days in that room forever, of course it is heavy but they are not “awake” from their loop so they can’t talk directly to you guys.
