All of them are great, but you don't necessarily need to watch every episode of each to get the gyst. I personally think the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited shows hold up the best. Which you should watch the finale to the Superman series at least as it's a direct follow up to those events.

If it wasn't for the existence of Return Of The Joker from earlier on, one would be entirely justified in believing that he had actually been rendered permanently catatonic by Ace. Not really, one guy who scared him was just an Average Joe that Joker was manipulating by threatening his family but that turned out to be a HUGE mistake because while working with Joker he was able to get a hold of a bomb and just like any parent worth their salt he was willing to die to keep his family safe. When Joker didn’t have a good means of escape the guy took the bomb out ready to blow them both up so his family would be safe! Joker ended up screaming for help from this mild mannered, overweight, middle aged man whose best plan was to become a suicide bomber! That must have been so embarrassing! 😂 I didn’t see the whole episode but I saw him take out the bomb, I saw Joker trip over a trash can and start frantically screaming for Batman and when Batman does show up the guy tells Batman to stay out of it because it’ll be better this way, Joker will be gone and his family will be safe.
Coincidentally it's also Princess Bubblegum. She's done some pretty weird stuff too, including creating and destroying life, but I wouldn't call her entirely creepy. Maybe her dark side is why she likes Marceline and why they mesh so well?

insanity doesnt necessarily protect someone from psychic intervention. Joker is very good at tricking people and avoiding these things, thats why he suddenly began to fear her when he realized she truly was not scared to hurt/kill him.
Joker always knew she could affect his mind, he kept the band just in case she turned on him. His insanity defense spiel is just hot air he spewed to convince himself and Ace that they could work together. Like Batman, Joker does have good mental defenses that are hard to navigate, but Ace wanted to believe she had a friend so badly she didn't really try to read his mind.

Then life finds a way to surprise you, over, and over again. This scene showed us that Joker here is not as insane as people know him. He has so much sanity in him left that he looks at himself and say "Oh. Ace is strong, I need to cover myself," but to be insane is simply disregarding that and embracing such madness. That's why he was terrified of Ace when Batman exposed him. Because with Ace knowing about what his mind is, she can bring sanity back to him.
In this specific universe, Ace, at least at full power, may be the 2nd most powerful being (1st is obviously golden AMAZO). So yeah, Joker is right to be afraid of her.

@@AdamBlack That band Batman was holding. It was meant to counter Ace, and Joker intended on using it on Ace if he didn't need her anymore or if she turned on him, which is why Batman showed it to her.
This scene showed us that Joker here is not as insane as people know him. He has so much sanity in him left that he looks at himself and say "Oh. Ace is strong, I need to cover myself," but to be insane is simply disregarding that and embracing such madness. That's why he was terrified of Ace when Batman exposed him. Because with Ace knowing about what his mind is, she can bring sanity back to him.
