    Great show! Just fix Dr. Glen up a bunk in the new warehouse! We're gonna need him around! I want to thank him for educating me on "allelopathy" and "allelopathic relationships"! I knew of the certain benefits (positive allelopathy) and negative effects (negative alellopathy) that one plant's biochemicals can have on another, but I never knew the name. I feel better educated, and I thank y'all for that!

    Outstanding! Very happy to see him being rotated in. Enjoyable as he speaks to, rather than down to you.

    What some of us hope to learn from you is commercial scale produce farming. Travis got into some of that but you guys seem to be going to small gardening. Hoss tools videos are the only source that I know of for us backyard farmers to learn some commercial production secrets and methods. For example, how to keep seedlings from getting fungal diseases. Should we use Ridomil or Nuprid to soak seedlings when we’re setting them into the soil? Please don’t forget us.

    Try sauteing the radish greens with salt, pepper to taste, EV olive oil & crushed garlic. Serve as a side or over pasta. Maybe try some dried hot pepper flakes & a sight squeeze of lemon juice to kick it up if you choose.

    I'm in SE N. Carolina with nothing but black acid sand. I've worked it for 8 yrs on the soil and am finally getting healthy crops. I just started this fall with cover crops and hope it helps a lot. I also rake my neighbors leaves for free every fall and use it, shredded for mulch. turning it in after a crop is done.

    Great show as always!
    I grow a garden in 60+ 18 gallon containers, i blend black kow and granddaddy pete's garden compost and spahgnum pete moss with a small amount of black coastal plains top soil mixed in for my growing medium in each of the containers. Even with this heavy amount of organic matter, it is important to add green matter each year for regenerating the growing medium through a winter cover crop, i use crimson clover.

    Excellent timing! I Just got back a soil test, first time I paid extra for the Organic Material and Nitrogen test and I was trying to make sense of my numbers. We have 2.3 Organic Material in our no till garden, pre cover crop. We are trialing cover crops for the first time this year. I will be very interested to test again to see how the Organic Material (OM) and Nitrogen change in the spring test. But I am so happy to get an idea of what the OM number means. I have vetch and daikon planted but have since learned daikon may not actually hold Nitrogen after termination. Hoping the vetch is the winner if that is the case. Great info!

    Great show. This is my first season trying a cover crop. I planted broadleaf mustard in one of my plots last Saturday and got good germination. Thanks for all the great advice.

    Greg, you look trimmed down. Just look back at your old videos and see the transformation.
    Also, i miss travis on the show. All i want for Christmas is a row by row show with you and him, just like old times.
    Ps i have been a good boy this year

      It was addressed on a row by row show and a face book post. He resigned in April to pursue his own channel and dreams. He was unhappy working for the family company and our plans for the business goals did not align. Sometimes change is not good but for the best. It was he choice.

    I recently discovered Hoss seeds and love the germination rates (or maybe it's just me getting better at planting). Question about cover crops: I need something in certain bad areas of my yard. However, it seems that clover just attracts rabbits (which favor my veggies over the clover), and I'm afraid of other plants that may attract deer. So instead of crops, I've resorted to bark chips to build my soil. Trouble with that is it takes longer to decompose. Any thoughts (zone 7B here in Georgia).

      @gardeningwithhoss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not a fan of wood chips in the garden, good compost would be a better option. You could plant Mustard as a cover crop. The deer and rabbits will not bother it.

    GREG, i'm in 7B and this time of year I like to plan what preps I need to make for SUMMER cover crops preceding "FALL PLANTING". I understand better the cover crops for NITROGEN fixation, but I struggle with cover crops (particularly mixing in "cocktails") for PHOSPHORUS and POTASSIUM scavenging. I mostly have a 2 month window (June and July) for summer cover cropping and I know the fast growers like Buckwheat, Sorghum Sudan, Sunhemp, Millet, etc. DO YOU SUGGEST ANY COVER CROP COCKTAILS FOR "P" AND "K" purposes that can be grown and terminated in 60 days or less?

    • @gardeningwithhoss
      @gardeningwithhoss  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would stay with Buckwheat and Millet. Sunhemp and sudan grass would work if you had a longer window.

    So do you kremp, mulchup and till in, or what? I got a little confused on how to terminate the cover crop when ready.

WE DANG SURE cannot refrigerate it . but we got plenty of water.

    Greg, I miss Travis! He was their one day and gone the next, without anyone sayig anything! Wish He was still on your channel! I don't know what happened as neither your channel or His new channel has said! And really I guess it's none of our business! But whatever the situation, I am praying for you both! That God will bring about forgiveness and healing for your family!
