    There is actually another game where you need to make spreadsheets to find out effects for example for cooking... it's called Wurm Online. But it will be hard to compare those two games, since MO2 is pretty action combat and large scale combat themed and Wurm is more about changing the land, building your place and crafting. And graphics are probably more in line with MO1.
    Anyway, great video! I enjoyed the summary.

    I've got less than a month in game. I haven't even left Haven yet. But some thoughts.
    1. I sucked at blocking. So I wanted to go into a direction where it didn't seem so necessary. So I was looking at magic. Haven does allow you to explore this, but the magic options are extremely limited. And with no access to Scribbing, you aren't going to add more spells to your spell book. Magic class in this game seems to be learn the basics and then head to the main land so you can actually do it. So if magic seeming to be so limited, I went with archery. Something so simple yet so complex. You have two types of bows Recurve or Decurve. Then three subtypes. Short Bow. Long bow. or Asymetric bow. You then have a choice to use one material or two materials to make the bow. All total I think I had to dump around 500 profession points just to make all the bows. And I've heard that there are some other books you have to learn to make some very intense bows.
    2. Crafting is insane. I made many cooking items and almost all of it was uneatable. I'm pretty sure there are probably entire Excel workbooks on recipes that have good results if you have the appropriate skills. But to be honest, you probably are better off putting those points into something else unless you really want to cook as a source of income.
    3. Leveling up skills is a true grind. Going back to bows, to level every category and subcategory of bow to 100 I had to craft close to 1200 bows.
    4. Think outside of the box when it comes to crafting. Resources you wouldn't expect to be used in crafting can be used. Just like raw food for your pets can be both obvious and not so obvious food sources.
    5. Skills are primary and secondary. Secondary skills are free to level up but tend to be roadblocked at whatever level the associated primary skill is set to. And primary skills do cost points to level. A one to one ratio. And you have a very finite number of points. And trust me when I say it seems like a lot, but once you start reading books you realize you don't have enough points for squat. Someone told me it is possible to be a jack of all trades in this game. You can dump just 30 points in all your primary skills to learn the bare minimum. But even if this is true I'd not recommend it. Otherwise nothing you will craft will be very good. Nobody will want to buy it and you sure as hell won't want to use it.
    6. Pets. I've got four pets. Two horses. A wolf. And a chicken. Yes, I tamed a chicken to see what the end result is. The chicken was surprisingly very tricky to tame. Even when the game states it is below my level and I'll gain no experience from the effort. But to use multiple animals you have to put some serious points into the domestication. To the point where you will be sacrificing other skills just to tame pets and use multiple animals. And yeah, I do suspect some animals are probably outside of the limits the average player has for "animal points" without dedicating skill points to the cause.
    7. Fishing, swimming, sprinting all primary skills. I had to literally ignore the first two because I needed points in other primary skills.
    8. The library is both your greatest friend and your worse enemy. And yes, there is a library in the town of Haven. The tutorial introduces you to reading a book for a skill you may never even use, but neglects to mention there is a whole library on the edge of town. Hell, the tutorial only takes you to two to show you where a quest giver is. Nothing more. Nothing less. They expect you to explore the town completely on your own. I was in game for two weeks before I discovered the library. And the more expensive the book, the longer it will take to read. I think the longest book to complete took me over 3 days give or take. And there are dozens of books. Some you really want aren't available in Haven.
    9. Your mic is hot by default. When you are in town, expect to hear random conversations from people near you. Just keep that in mind when you are playing.

      Regarding blocking, try click drag setting with lower sensitivity, 50% or lower. The sensitivity can be raised later as you become more comfortable. And remember that your mouse movement is suppose to be in right angles when changing blocking directions, not circular/oval. You may also try keybinding either the overhead/thrust or the right/left directions, instead of using mouse for all 4 directions.

    • @muddeer5383
      @muddeer5383 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As for skill books, most do not need to be read to finish. Only enough to unlock the child skill you want; remember that when you gain xp in a child skill, its parent skill also gains xp automatically.

    • @superdave8248
      @superdave8248 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@muddeer5383 Point made. I neglected to say this in my very long winded post. But unlock the parent skill, and then start reading a skill associated directly under the parent. Two for one. But be aware, some subskills do require a specific level to be reached on the parent to unlock the ability to read the book on the sub skill. Sometimes the parent skill has to be level 40. But I think the book warns you before purchase if you aren't high enough in skill to read it.

      @@TwoChinI just got into it, and yes you get griefed, but that's part of the game. And that appears to happen if you are new or not. • @ageoflove1980
      @ageoflove1980 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem, or blessing, depending how you look at it, is that the experience stands or falls on other players. Being social is super important because the game is dominated by well established groups of players. If you dont partake in this social circuit a very large part of the game simply wont be available to you. Like literally, there are a lot of things you cant do solo or with a small group. But also in terms of protection against grieving, simple knowledge of systems and gameplay and, well, content in general.
      The only game that currently out that is comparable is Eve Online in my opnion. Yes you can play Eve in the safe zone and grind missions and stuff, but you are experiencing an extremely watered down version of what null sec corps are doing. It is not like WoW where you can just spam Barrens chat with Tank LFG Wailing Caverns and have a good time with people you dont know and get some decent loot.
      The fact that you need to coordinate anything thats worth while doing with others can be great but it can also be extremely tedious. There is A LOT of downtime, simply waiting for everyone to get there. Usually guild activities are on a schedual, like you have to be somewhere at a specific time else you're out of luck. What im saying is that you have very little control over what you can actually do in the game. You cant just turn your PC on and start playing except very trivial things like gathering resources or hunting some monsters. And even that is hard and extremely risky. Remeber, everyone can just kill you and take your stuff if you just yolo it.
      So the best way to start Mortal Online 2 is not by starting to play Mortal Online 2. You start out by finding a guild, Discord is a must, and then hope these guys are active, patient with you and have good relations with other guilds. If your guild falls apart after a few weeks or managed to get itself in to trouble and you are pretty much kill on sight.... you are seriously f-ed. Now to someone unfamiliar to the game this might sound like its pretty exciting, but I guarantee you its not because, like I said, youll be excluded from like 90% of things to do. Youll end up like a peasant gathering stuff for others to do all the fun stuff with because there simply isnt anything else for you to do.

Also, your character in MO1 could only really specialize in being one thing; if you want to craft as well as fight, well that's a different character. When the desert expansion came out, I made an entirely new character to specialize in horse archery. I never got good at combat, but I only had some hundreds of hours when the majority of the big guilds quit.

    This game always seems so interesting but its held back by SUCH SLOW development and frustrating (not fun) gameplay. They make a big hype about 1 new dungeon and it comes SO far apart. Just way too slow in releasing new content. Also the servers mortal online 2 use are not that impressive. Its quite a poor refresh rate and it is only remotely stable because there are barely any players online at a time.... The steam user counts are quite low. Also a sub for this is insane lol.
    Then the actual gameplay. Its always cool to say "one world, no instances, fun guild systems" until you actually jump in and its a TOTAL zerg fest. You cant do ANYTHING without joining one of like 10 major guilds. You have to zerg everything, there is no "hop in with friends and do a dungeon". Doesn't exist. You need to bring 50 guys with you who all have max tier gear otherwise there is no hope.
    You will go out of the safe towns for 5 seconds to do a beginner mission and get ganked all the time. Its not fun. Its a cool concept, but its not fun. The only people who play are a very very very tiny hardcore fanboy base.

      @@soliitudegaming7275 can't argue with you on thoughts of development speed. I will say on the side of needing to 'zerg': yes the game will be far easier if you join a big guild and sit outside one dungeon, but it's not a necessity as you're implying. A majority of dungeon running itself is small scale, but you will have zergs sieging out out of areas. Regardless of this small scale is well and truly alive for experienced players, and newer players will have to build up their skill and bank if they want to small scale dungeons. This is all, obviously, in my very bias opinion so take that as you will.

      I have a small guild and the boys and I hop into do dungeons all the time. 3-5 guys. The new jungle dungeon, Mellisar's vault, sator dungeon etc... never had too many issues tbh.

    • @hola.5
      @hola.5 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Can't agree more with OP. this game is not fun for small/solo play, but the mobs (outside of dungeons) are small scale so it's dumb to farm with big groups.
      Also the time it takes to ready up and travel is brutal. So much time is spent just getting your group ready. And the fact you can't see your friends on a map or indicators ingame sucks, your buddy may be 50 feet away from you who got lost and it takes forever to find them. It would be great if every character could have a beacon skill that shoots a firework or something into the sky, enemies could also see it but at least you could regroup easily. I personally think you should be able to see your friends easier ingame, they should show up on the map. And so should you for that matter, would help new players out like crazy.
      Also make a teleport system back to town or your house for fucks sake, the travel is horrendous. make it so you cannot teleport with money and maybe half weight or something. Make portals in most to all cities and can port to other cities, where you can only port naked.
